Get The Look: Amber Heard at The Golden Globes

71st Annual Golden Globe Awards - ArrivalsA presenter at Sunday’s 2014 Golden Globe Awards, Amber Heard sparked in a midnight blue Atelier Versace gown. While the stunning actress wowed in the elegant frock, it was her romantic up-do and glamorous makeup that made the full exceptionally unique. Celebrity makeup artist Matthew VanLeewen collaborated with Amber to create a look accentuated her flawless features.

“Amber brought some of her own ideas to the mix, says Matthew. “She liked the idea of focusing on sultry chocolate eyes, creamy skin and soft nude lips.”

Here is how to recreate this glamorous look:

Face (complexion): Before priming the skin with Hourglass No.28 Primer Serum, Matthew moisturized Amber’s skin with Cle de Peau’s Gentle Nourishing Emulsion. “No. 28 hydrated beautifully but it also creates a magical finish,” he says. With skin prepped, Matthew concealed with Hourglass Hidden Corrective Conceal in Warm and followed with the Veil Fluid Makeup in Light Beige.

Eyes: The star of the look was Amber’s sultry, brown smoky eyes. To begin, Matthew chose the shell shade from the Hourglass Vol. 6 Eye Palette as a full lid shade (base). He continued to blend a bronze shimmery shade (Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy) into the crease and under the eyes. To intensify the bronze, apply the brown shade from the Vol. 6 palette in the same areas.

For unexpected touch of drama, line the eyes with a plum liner (MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella). “Amber brought some of her own ideas to the mix, says Matthew. “I also smudged the line with the black shadow from the palette,” he says. For added dimension, apply a high-shine pearl shadow to the inner corner of eyes.

Finally, top the eyes off with a coat of Hourglass Film Noir mascara. Allow the initial coat to dry prior to curling lashes. Add an extra layer of fun with individual lashes like Ardell Duralash Flare in Medium Black.

Cheeks: Matthew brought out the beauty of Amber’s face by applying the sheer rose shade from Hourglass Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to her cheeks. He followed with a sheer champagne highlighter (Hourglass Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Due in Bronze Light). To mimic a moonlit glow, Matthew recommends going over the initial highlight with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light.

Lips: To wrap the look up, Matthew chose a liner and lipstick combination. Start by lining lips with Hourglass Trace Liner in Bare and follow with a swipe of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Whisper.

The finally result was a glamorous yet understated look that encapsulated the best of bronze and gold-y tones. Skip the traditional dark smoky eye and try this updated look for you next night out.

Amber Heard In Atelier Versace – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Amber Heard In Versace - 2014 Golden Globes

Amber Heard graced the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 12).

The actress wore a stunning navy Atelier Versace gown with ruched neckline detailing and a daring, leg-baring slit.

Amber paired the dress Jimmy Choo ‘New Mariah’ black platforms and Graziela Gems ear cuffs for a ensemble that is elegant and youthful.

I’m not entirely sold on the ultra teased updo, but her smokey brown eyes, flawless skin and glossy nude lips are gorgeous.

Who Wore J. Mendel Better…Amber Heard or Kerry Washington?

Who Wore J Mendel Better Amber Heard or Kerry Washington

Back in August Amber Heard wore a summery white J. Mendel dress featuring sheer inserts to the press conference for ‘Paranoia’.

She styled her pretty dress with just nude pumps and a simple ponytail.

Kerry Washington wore the same dress a few months later for PaleyFest’s ‘She’s Making Media’ panel held in her honour.

I wasn’t fond of the length of the frock on Kerry, nor of her choice of accessories, especially that Hunting Season clutch, so Amber wins for me.

Amber Heard was also among the starlets-who-lunch at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Tuesday afternoon in California, where she stepped onstage at one point with actor Liam Hemsworth.

The ‘Paranoia’ actress took on the midriff trend in a refreshing way, wearing an Osman Resort 2014 embossed white, curved-hem crop top with an open back and matching asymmetric skirt.

She accessorized the classic-mod look with nude Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps and EF Collection jewels, including a wrist full of delicate gold bangles.

A wispy milkmaid braided updo and a bronzed smokey eye added a romantic tinge to the relaxed-chic styling.

Amber Heard In Vionnet – ‘Paranoia’ LA Premiere

Amber Heard In Vionnet - 'Paranoia' LA Premiere

As one of my faves, I was excited to see Amber Heard take to the red carpet for the ‘Paranoia’ premiere, which was held at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, California yesterday evening.

Maybe my expectations were way too high, but my immediate response to her in this Vionnet dress was disappointment.

Realising that I wasn’t giving the sky-blue-black-and-ivory draped dress with a navy skirt and ivory beaded embellishments a chance because the look didn’t scream va-va-voom, I tried to give it another shot, but after seeing it from every angle, especially the back, the only thing I like about the look is the mix of colours.

The silhouette doesn’t work for me as I don’t think it is doing anything for her.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this look, as I think I was far too expectant to see this look clearly.

Amber Heard In Michael Kors – Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Amber Heard In Michael Kors - Jimmy Kimmel Live!

After wearing a pretty frock for the ‘Paranoia’ press conference last week, it looks like Amber Heard got her sexy back while spotted making her way to a guest appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in West Hollywood, California yesterday afternoon.

The blonde beauty wore a tantalizing Michael Kors Resort 2014 look featuring a black scoop-neck top and a camel-and-black skirt with a risqué thigh-high slit. It’s the slit which places this look firmly in the sexy category, even though the actress just oozes sex appeal no matter what she wears.

Sporting beach waves, she completed the look with natural makeup, Dana Rebecca Designs and EF Collection jewels and Christian Louboutin pumps.

The premiere of ‘Paranoia’ takes place this evening in LA with the handsome Josh Holloway and Liam Hemsworth on the red carpet; however, I know when I wake up tomorrow morning, the first person I am going to be searching for is Amber.

Amber Heard In J. Mendel – ‘Paranoia’ Press Conference

Amber Heard In J Mendel - 'Paranoia' Press Conference

Amber Heard attended a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, California on Thursday for her latest movie, ‘Paranoia’.

The blonde beauty wore a J. Mendel Resort 2014 white off-the-shoulder boat-neck dress featuring sheer asymmetrical inserts throughout.

I love how this classic style is given a modern twist with the panels. It really is such a refreshing, clean look.

The summery frock was styled with nude patent-leather Christian Louboutin ‘ Batignolles’ pumps (which are a few sizes too big) and Dana Rebecca Designs ‘Nikki Joy’ diamond stud earrings.
