Olivia Munn In J. Mendel – 2015 Met Gala

Olivia Munn In J Mendel - 2015 Met Gala

Olivia Munn made a high drama statement on the red carpet of the 2015 Met Gala in New York City tonight (May 4).

The actress wore an intricately pleated J. Mendel gown with drape-away sleeves and bold colors, and while Olivia often has an appealing ‘everygirl’ quality about her, that is nowhere to be found tonight. She looks as glamorous as I’ve ever seen her, and I love every aspect of it.

Despite how much is going on with the draping and color-fading of the dress, Olivia continued to editorialize the look with huge diamond jewels and red and black nail art, and while it was a risk, I think that risk totally paid off.

Word on the street is that Olivia was invited to sit at Anna Wintour’s head table tonight, and hopefully she’ll make as good of an impression on the Anna as she has on me.

Chloë Sevigny In J.W. Anderson – 2015 Met Gala

Chloë Sevigny In J.W. Anderson - 2015 Met Gala

Chloë Sevigny was also in attendance at the 2015 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

The actress wore a custom J.W. Anderson front-slit gown notable for its mixed embroidery and tapestry influences that were no doubt selected for the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme.

The richness of the fabrication was compromised by the styling, though.

There were simply one (or several) too many accessories cluttering the look—from the double bracelets and rings to the choker necklace and earrings. Yet even with their removal, I don’t know that I would be on board with this look.

Kate Hudson In Michael Kors – 2015 Met Gala

Kate Hudson In Michael Kors - 2015 Met Gala

Kate Hudson made a shimmery turn on the red carpet of the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City tonight (May 4).

Her custom Michael Kors gown is intrinsically Chinese in shape, and the gold leaf overlay creates a glamorous, gilded effect.

I’m not going to lie, from far away, I was very disappointed in this look, but once I saw the gown up-close, I was immediately swayed. Kate literally looks like she is dripping in gold, and the gown, though understated, could be a museum-piece.

I am take it or leave it with the loose updo and beaded hairpiece, but her glowing makeup, flawless brows and matte raspberry lipstick are stunning.

Elizabeth Banks In Michael Kors – 2015 Met Gala

Elizabeth Banks In Michael Kors - 2015 Met Gala

Elizabeth Banks attended the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

I saw little of the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme in her Michael Kors cutout gown that needed a good steam for the wrinkles, although it was rendered in a glorious shade of teal blue.

Her architectural updo, along with a Lee Savage ‘Infinite Space’ clutch and Kara Ross ring, served to create a futuristic flair.

Perhaps I am overly disappointed as I was expecting so much more from the actress.

Sienna Miller In Thakoon – 2015 Met Gala

Sienna Miller In Thakoon - 2015 Met Gala

Sienna Miller was also at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Also eschewing a gown, the actress wore Thakoon separates rendered in a rich, ruby red hue and embellished with all-over beaded sparkle.

There is something of a matador aesthetic intertwined with the cropped jacked and black tasseled obi sash here.

She accessorized with matching black tassel earrings and a complementary Rauwolf clutch, with a sleek bun completing the look.

I wish the gaping plunge had tapered to a v-shape for more flattering appeal.

Selena Gomez In Vera Wang – 2015 Met Gala

Selena Gomez In Vera Wang - 2015 Met Gala

Selena Gomez attended the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Playing to the theme, the singer-actress wore a custom Vera Wang white cutout gown with black tassels at the back and a long train that provided a beautiful streamlined effect.

A floral headpiece atop her slicked-back updo along with a China-doll red lip completed the look.

This likely won’t be one of the more memorable looks of the evening, but what do you make of her effort?
