Sofia Vergara In Marchesa – 2015 Met Gala

Sofia Vergara In Marchesa - 2015 Met Gala

Sofia Vergara also made her way around the red carpet of the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Not even a magnifying glass could help locate any measure of the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme in the ‘Modern Family’ actress’s ballet-pink Marchesa strapless confection.

This was a Sofia gown through and through with all the trademarks of her signature style. The same goes for her beauty look consisting of long waves and sultry makeup tones.

Ethereal with its angelic chiffon layers and sparkling embellishment, the dress was beautiful yet oh so expected and rather uninspired for this occasion.

Taraji P. Henson In Balenciaga – 2015 Met Gala

Taraji P. Henson attended the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

The ‘Empire’ actress was dressed in a Balenciaga column gown, fully beaded in a black floral motif in homage to the theme.

She styled the dress with Fred Leighton jewels, including a whimsically twisted pair of earrings.

While the look felt safe and was clearly not as intriguing or excessive as some of the other power gowns on the red carpet, it still resonated with the strikingly stark black-and-white contrast and the clear workmanship behind all that beading.

FKA Twigs In Christopher Kane – 2015 Met Gala

FKA Twigs In Christopher Kane - 2015 Met Gala

FKA twigs was also in the mix at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Marching to the beat of her own style drum, as she does, the British singer-songwriter veered strongly left of the evening’s theme.

Donning the so-called “lovers lace” from Christopher Kane’s Fall 2015 collection, her suggestive patchwork dress was more along the lines of peering behind closed doors rather than through the looking glass.

Provocatively putting the human anatomy on display, the design’s figures lent an overt sexual note. Further edge came with her faux-hawk-inspired ’do.

Perhaps the graphic look could be imagined as suitable for another occasion, but do you say yay or nay on the nakedness?

Jessica Alba In Kenzo – 2015 Met Gala

Jessica Alba In Kenzo - 2015 Met Gala

Jessica Alba was one of the many fashionable stars to attend the 2015 Met Gala in New York City tonight (May 4).

For the grand affair, Jessica wore a Kenzo gown, paired with a Kenzo tiger paw clutch and Kenzo sandals.

While I certainly see how this gown fits into the night’s theme, unfortunately it just doesn’t seem to fit Jessica’s body. It really feels a bit too big for her petite frame, and I feel some alterations might completely change my feelings about this look–because right now, it’s pretty ‘meh’.

I do love the editorial nature of the paw clutch, and as usual, Jessica’s makeup is perfectly bronzed and totally on-point. I also love that she’s gone a bit left field from her norm with a shimmery pastel eyeshadow.
