Runway To The Neighborhood Inaugural Ball РAlicia Keys In Gianfranco Ferr̩

Alicia Keys was one of the many celebrities to perform at the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball last night.

The R&B singer belted out her hit single No One, to the pack gathering wearing Gianfranco Ferré Spring 2009 black dress.

She wore her sleeveless dress with a black thinner belt, to the one that was presented on the runway, but it took nothing away from the stunning dress.

I particularly love the detail on the skirt. Alicia wore with black heels.

In the video you can see Kate Walsh introducing Alica Keys to the crowd. The actress is wearing a Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2009 strapless gown. Unfortunately I can not find a still picture of her in it.

2008 American Music Awards – Best Dressed

Best Rock Chick/Best Dressed Award
Pink stood out the most on the red carpet last night, and I absolutely love the cut of her strapless, curve-hugging Vivienne Westwood Fall 2007 gown, which is covered in sequins to give it a kind of reptile feel.

Her accessories were kept to a minimum, and soft curls help give her that feminine touch.

It was dramatic, bold, daring and perfect for her. It gave her an edge, without making her look too butch.

Best Co-ordination/Best Group Award
Pussycat Dolls all wore pieces from the Christian Siriano Spring 2009 collection.

This is what I mean about looking cohesive. They are not all necessarily wearing the same colours, but they compliment each other so well.

From left to right; Melody Thorton wore a lime green halter-neck dress, with pewter strappy sandals.

My favourite Doll, Jessica Sutta, wore a charcoal grey skirt, with a lime green strapless top and over-the-knee black boots.

Nicole Scherzinger wore a gorgeous strapless grey mini dress with a purple ombre hem. She completed her look with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

Ashley Roberts also wore a strapless mini, but hers was nude with a black overlay, which she paired with black strappy sandals.

Kimberly Wyatt wore the most colourful dress, and probably the most recognizable since Heidi Klum wore the full length version to the 2008 Emmy’s.

Best Strapless Award
This dress was one of my favourites from the Marchesa Spring 2009 collection.

I did not quite have it earmarked for any particular celebrity, but Miley Cyrus definitely did not spring to mind. Miley wore this dress so well, and she did not pout on the red carpet. A first I think.

It was her 16th birthday at this event, so she no doubt wanted to feel grown up by wearing this Marchesa gold embellished strapless dress with a black draped chiffon overlay.

She completed her look with Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

I know a lot of you will say that this dress is not age appropriate, but I loved it on her.

Nice Dress, Shame About The Earrings Award
Alicia Keys is a vision of pure loveliness in this Armani Privé royal blue one shoulder gown with Swarovski crystal trim, but unfortunately she did not get Best Dressed because I really disliked her earrings.

They are way too much for such an understated gown, but the tikka was a nice touch.

Most Improved Award
OK the lips are still very rouge, but there is no denying that Christina Aguilera was an absolute knock-out on the red carpet last night.

She wore an amazing Elie Saab Fall 2007 Couture gown, which many would say is hard to go wrong with. But this does not apply to Christina, because she is likely to kill any dress with too much make-up, or over posing on the red carpet, but she did neither last night, much to her credit and no doubt resistant.

Her long silver, embellished gown had a looked old Hollywood, which she wore with Stephen Webster earrings and Garrard bracelet and rings.

Best Embellishments Award
Taylor Swift rarely puts a foot wrong on the big occasions, and this was no exception as the country star shone in a Collette Dinnigan Spring 2009 asymmetric embellished silver mini dress.

She completed her look with pewter Christian Louboutin peep-toes.

Best Legs Award
Carrie Ann Inaba showed off her stunning lean legs wearing an Alberto Makali bronze sequined mini dress.

Best White Award
Demi Lovato looked stunning in the white tiered lace Gustavo Cadile dress, with a black sash.

Best Use Of Colour Award
Jordin Sparks shone so brightly in her canary yellow Dolce & Gabbana Pre-Fall 2008 dress, with a contrasting sash.

She completed her look with silver metallic sandals, and those darn red extensions.

Best Brit Award
Whilst Natasha Bedingfield let us Brits down in an ill-fitting suit, Leona Lewis did us proud by walking the red carpet in a mauve sequin and tufted chiffon Jenny Packham dress.

The dress had a butterfly detail on the bodice, which only adds more beauty to this girlie dress, which the singers tends to opt for.

Her silver sandals and Swarovski clutch compliment her dress beautifully.

Best Black/Best At Not Over Doing It Award
Like Christina, Mariah Carey has a tendency to over do it on the big stage, but I think since her marriage to Nick Cannon, the attention seeking, OTT, bum skimming outfits have gone, and a more sophisticated look has emerged.

This black Dolce & Gabbana gown is sexy, without being slutty, which is a fine line Mariah has walked in the past.

The dress gives her an amazing silhouette.

Big, Bold and Beautiful Award
If I told you Queen Latifah was going to wear a stretched metallic dress, you would have struggled to see how it would work, but the Queen does make it work, and how.

She is beyond stunning in her dress, with gorgeous Jimmy Choo pewter shoes to match.

Sexy Siren Award
There is always one who adds a touch of sex appeal to the red carpet, surprisingly it was Sarah Chalke.

The actress took the the red carpet wearing a bust enhancing, corseted Zac Posen Stingray satin dress, that just oozed sex appeal.

She completed her look with Christian Louboutin heels.

Most Shocking Improvement Award
I guess like me you never thought you would see the day that Phoebe Price would end up on any Best Dressed list, but despite the shock, she really does deserve this award.

The dress is surprisingly nice, one tone, not over-the-top, nor garish, not in your face, nor vomit inducing.

It’s actually respectable, but I do not expect this to last.

Someone check Phoebe’s temperature, I think she is coming down with something.

Best Gold Award
Say what you want about Paris Hilton, but she is looking much better these days. And although this dress is the size of a postage stamp, it is the perfect dress for Paris.

The gold chain mail dress compliments her sun-kissed skin perfectly.

Best Shoes Award
Actress Shailene Woodley also wore a grey dress from the Christian Siriano Spring 2009, I loved the layers and the neckline, but more importantly I loved the shoes, with the chiffon ruffled details.

2008 World Music Awards Red Carpet

Alicia Keys was definitely the bell of this ball tonight, wearing a lilac strapless column Moschino gown, with a stand out pink Zufi Alexander clutch.

She is beyond gorgeous here.

This is another good effort by Solange Knowles. She wore a light grey Jenny Packham Fall 2008 mini dress, which had ruffles, feathers and a sheer panel.

But she really lets herself down with the black pumps. Silver strappy sandals would have been my preference here.

The hands by the face pose, is very Beyonce at the EMAs, don’t cha think?

Estelle always shows supports for London based designers.

The British R&B queen walked the red carper wearing an electric blue Ashley Isham Spring 2009 one shouldered draped dress, with burgundy platforms.

Anastacia went for something cute and playful Marc by Marc Jacobs Torn print prom dress, which very much suits her shorter ‘do.

The belted dress has a pleated bodice, tulle skirt with drape and gathered detail. This really was a great choice, but I would have loved to have seen her in a gown.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor also opted for a London based designer, wearing a lime green Temperley London Elfin tunic dress with a black trim, which delicately concealed her baby bump.

The gorgeous dress had a beaded lace detail at ballerina neckline, and cap sleeves. She completed her look with nude pumps, but I was not crazy about her choice of carrying a bright pink clutch.

Michelle Williams is gorgeous in this emerald green chiffon Malandrino Fall 2008 dress with rock beaded neckline.

I am really preferring the shorter hairstyle.

2008 Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet

“Rachel Getting Married” Premiere

With her incredibly fierce heels, Anne Hathaway showed off her long legs to perfection wearing a vintage Jean Louis Scherrer tulle ballerina dress, with white and silver rosettes.

The actress looked glamorous, chic and extremely feminine in her playful dress. She complete with a sweet silver clutch.

“The Duchess” Premiere

After Keira’s stunning Alexis Mabille Couture dress last week, this grey shapeless bandeau dress, falls a lot flat for me.

Love the hair though.

“Blindness” Premiere

Julianne Moore wore a bold cobalt blue floor-length YSL gown with gold accents. The red haired actress carried the most exquisite gold clutch I have ever seen.

Sandra Oh loves to make bold choices on the red carpet, and does not disappoint here wearing a taupe long sleeved Fendi Feather swing dress dress with a feathered hem.

Evangeline Lilly is picture perfect in her strapless black and white strapless dress.

Burn After Reading Premiere

From couture she wore the the Venice Film Festival Tilda Swinton decided for a milder look to the Toronto Film Festival wearing a oversized white shirt and a long black skirt.

She adds multiple necklaces for added flair.

“The Secret Life Of Bees” Premiere

Alicia Keys wears a stunning pair of Jimmy Choo snake patchwork sandals, that have touches of purple, which perfectly compliment her spectacular purple strapless charmeuse dress by Nicole Miller.

As always Dakota Fanning is cute and age appropriate in her black full-skirted Zac Posen Zibeline Poof Mini Dress dress.

Jennifer Hudson wow the crowds in her olive green Lanvin Pre-Fall 2008 gown with a black bow.

She also wowed the crowds, when a big gush of wind blew up open her dress to reveal her black spanx under her dress.

Poor thing. How very embarrassing.

Queen Latifah asymmetric dress, matched her asymmetric hairstyle.

Sophie Okonedo’s blue ruched strapless dress, showed off her sexy silhouette.

“Middle of Nowhere” Premiere

No wonder we have not seen Sophia Bush at Fashion Week.

The One Tree Hill star kept it simple in a strapless LBD.

Willa Holland also opted for a strapless LBD, but her was layered with chiffon and had a cut bow on the bust line.

The actress wore her dress with a pair of eggplant Christian Louboutin Orniron Ankle Boots

Sir Richard Branson Unite Party

Kate Hudson was the guest of honour at Sir Richard Branson’s party.

The actress with her trademark wild hair wore a strapless red knotted dress with gold heels.

2008 BET Awards Red Carpet

After looking at these pictures last night, I had one disturbing thought. I miss Beyonce Knowles.

Even with her over the top sequins, and her mother’s vomit inducing designs, at least there was a talking point.

Not many attempted to steal her crown.

Best Dressed

Best Dressed Award
The only shining light was Rihanna, and she was was literally a shining light in this neon-yellow Giambattista Valli Spring 2008 multi-tiered gown.

The only downside for me was the lip colour as it for me is too harsh for this dress.

Best Embellishments Award
Ashanti looked just OK in this jeweled embellished Marchesa Fall 2007 gown. Not to over the top and in your face.

Best Veteran Award
Nia Long has been attending these events for as long as I can remember, and she ALWAYS looks great. I love her this grape draped mini dress.

Best Booties Award
Despite not being able to crack a smile, Lauren London looks cute in her French Connection wizard cotton mini strapless grey dress, which she wears with the ever popular Givenchy Shoes Strappy Open Toe Ankle Booties.

Best Shoes Award
I was not crazy about Alicia Keys fuchsia strapless David Meister dress, nor her choice of jewelry, but I do love her patent paint drip Sergio Rossi heels.

Best White Award
Gabrielle Union is an absolute vision in this white draped Celine gown with a metal halter and her mega-watt smile.

Best Clutch/Lady In Red Award
Jordin Sparks of course wore red, to match those red streaks in her hair, which she has been sporting for a while.

Although the dress looks like it needs to be pulled down, I do love the colour and fold details on the front.

Her multi-coloured shimmering snake-skin clutch is to die for.

Just OK Award
After spending all that time in the presence of Patricia Field whilst working on Sex And The City movie, Jennifer Hudson really did not pick up many tips. She is still opting for the same brown/bronze colour she always seems to wear on the big occasions.

Her dress is again by Peter Soronen and her shoes are Miu Miu.

Most Improved Award
Tocarra Jones is usually falling out of her dress, so she wins many points for keeping her puppies under control and under her dress.

Worst Dressed

Worst Dressed Award
If you need to ask why, you need to go to your local opticians immediately.

Keyshia Cole is squinting, such is the brightness of her hideous bubble dress.

As Gizmo from the Gremlins would say “Bright light. Bright light”.

Worst Red Award
Lil Mama for a time sported Chanel and Betsey Johnson, so I thought she was on her way to change direction like Rihanna. Then this a complete 180.

That poor kid much be so embarrassed.

Worst Hair Award
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, it’s 2008, when are you going to change that hairstyle?

It was cool when it was original back in 1994, but now it is just plain tired.

T Boz arrived with her home girl Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, who’s ensemble was just as hideous as her band mate.

Worst Veteran Award

Cindy Herron is still the prettiest member of En Vogue, and was by far the best dressed in this line-up. The rest look like the are going to a S&M convention.

Did You Not Learn From Your Sister’s Mistakes? Award
Big sister Beyonce passed the baton onto Solange Knowles, but she fumbled, dropped the baton and left the house looking like this.

The dress has Tina Knowles stench all over it, and her hair looks like the comb-over that men who are balding adopt, to cover a shiny thinning spot and when, OH when, is she going to lose the two tone nail varnish?

The only saving grace are her cut-out wedged sandals.

Worst Creases Award
As small as this dress is, it would have taken Cassie no more than 2 minutes to iron it.

Worst Make-Up Award
Either someone punched Lil Kim in the face, or that big purple thing on the side of her face is make-up.

Her hideous lace wig looks like it came from the same shop as Tyra Banks.

Worst Embellishments Award
What are those embellishments on Alicia Keys’ Pollini Fall 2008 dress, fans or hair colour swatches?

Other than that, this would have been a stunning dress, as I adore the colour on her.

Music Junkie has all the coverage from the BET Awards including winners and performances.

2008 Grammy Awards Worst Dressed

Worst Statement Dress Award
I know Kelis is promoting her husband’s album, but I do not approve of using this word for self promotion or use of this word in any context.

So trashy.

Worst Hair Award
Alicia Keys was not the worst dressed, in fact I loved the colour on her amazing custom-made Giorgio Armani Privé halter-neck gown.

What I did not like was the hair. She just ruined everything with the hair. Why a mohawk for such a pretty dress?

Worst Dressed Award
No I am not a Beyonce hater. This dress just did not work for me at all and I love Elie Saab.

The asymmetrical bodice and the dripping metallic detail was over-kill, without that this dress may have worked.

I am surprised that from all the dresses in Elie Saab Spring 2008 Couture collection that she choose this one.

I also did not like the hair. I know she was channeling Tina Turner, but I hated it.

Worst Black Award
Aren’t trains supposed to be on the back of dresses?

Fantasia dress was just too much for her. She tried to go Hollywood glam, when she should have stuck to her edgy roots and opted for something a little more funkier.

Worst Floral Award
Lil Mama should have saved her Chanel dress for this occasion.

Least Flattering Award
Unfortunately for Nelly Furtaro this cerulean strapless Arthur Mendonca gown made her look very wide at the hips.

Worst Pageant Fancy Dress/Bridesmaid Award
Urgh…just hideous. This dress that Taylor Swift wore was just to sickly sweet for me and the leaf-embellished skirt was too much.

Worst On Stage Outfit
Good girl gone bad for Rihanna in this Zac Posen Spring 2008 dress. She looks like the straw-man from the Wizard of Oz.

oOpS Award
Debbie Matenopolous announced to the world that the designer of Carrie Underwood’s dress was Badgley Mischka, which was incorrect. To make matters worst she then went onto say that she had seen the floral dress at their recent Fall 2008 New York Fashion Week show.

The fact of the matter was that the dress Carrie was wearing, was by the same designer – Zuhair Murad – that she was wearing. Once informed she desperately tried to make a retracting but the damage was already done. Zuhair Murad has dressed Debbie for other occasions, but I guess this will be her last.
