Red Carpet Fashion Awards

It’s no surprise that Alexa Chung was also in attendance at the Burberry Paris Boutique Opening at the British Embassy in Paris on Thursday evening.

The style icon, according to the British Fashion Council, wore a cropped Burberry trench belted over a black chiffon dress, which boasted a very high slit for the usually quite modest Ms. Chung.

The belted outerwear over such a sexy skirt is a fun and unexpected, but can we please focus on what really matters here: those gold Celine Resort 2012 platforms.

Excuse me whilst I go update my holiday wishlist.

Signature messy hair (with bangs slightly trimmed since last RC appearance, fortunately) and a black clutch complete the look.

Alexa Chung won the British Style Award at the 2011 British Fashion Awards which were held at the Savoy Hotel in London last night.

I think the person sitting next to me summed up a few people’s feelings when he said, “Again? Is there no one else they can pick?”

The TV personality accepted her award wearing a Christopher Kane Spring 2012 dress – our first look at this collection on the red carpet.

The ivory silk satin dress with an embellished overlay was teamed with a bejewelled Christopher Kane clutch.

Keeping to her signature laidback style, she added Charlotte Olympia ‘Kitty’ embroidered velvet pumps. We’ve seen her wear the velvet flats several times before.

She debuted longer bangs which were too long in my opinion.

Minimal (if any) makeup completed her look.

Jessica Chastain was the first to don this black lace-sleeved velvet Emilio Pucci Fall 2011 dress with a white collar for the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Costume Institute Gala which took place at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City back in May.

The actress teamed the long-sleeve frock with a pair of simple black slingback Christian Louboutin heels and diamond drop earrings.

She styled her hair in a side swept updo, kohl rimmed eyes and a nude lip completed her look.

On Tuesday night, Alexa Chung wore the same dress to the Emilio Pucci new boutique launch at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.

While the dress fits the gal’s personality (and style) more, she teamed the frock with chunky T-strap pumps that made her ensemble look too gothic.

As always, her barely there makeup and casual tresses completed her look.

This time around Jessica’s simple styling wins it for me.

This Fall 2011 Rebecca Taylor ‘Black Ghost’ cut-out dress is so popular it has already been worn three times on the red carpet.

Alexa Chung was the first to wear this chiffon floral print with Miu Miu glitter and suede ankle boots when she attended Cynthia Rowley’s Fall 2011 presentation during New York Fashion Week.

Her pretty dress was accessorized with a black shoulder bag.

Ivanka Trump launched her footwear collection at Bloomingdale’s wearing the same dress, which is a huge departure from her signature uptown New Yorker looks.

Her accessories included black pumps and a black chain-strap bag, plus her chic updo hinted at her uptown New Yorker status.

Kirsten Dunst teamed her dress with a black blazer whilst out in downtown New York with friends earlier last month.

With an iced coffee in one hand and a Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton duffle bag in the other, her off-duty look was perfected with suede ankle boots.

Kirsten is the epitome of downtown cool, so she wins for me.

The dress doesn’t suit Ivanka’s style and, even with her chic accessories, Alexa still looks homeless.

You can buy Alexa’s, Ivanka’s and Kirsten’s Rebecca Taylor dress from
Net-A-Porter US and Net-A-Porter International.

Alexa Chung attended the 2nd Annual Capsule Collection for Vogue Eyewear launch held at Sunglasses Hut’s flagship store in New York on Tuesday.

The TV personality wore a Mary Katrantzou Lily Pond floral print dress from the Fall 2011 collection.

This is the second time this a week that a Mary Katrantzou dress has fallen foul to less than impressive footwear, but that is very much Alexa’s trademark so one should not be surprised.

Her multi-coloured floral-print silk dress was paired with a black Chanel shoulder bag.

This is a really nice dress, but Alexa doesn’t have the chops to pull it off. It’s totally overwhelming her.

Barely-there makeup and trademark messy tresses completed her look.

These girls need to start reading Street Style blogs because Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia and co would be able to show them which shoes work with these tricky prints.

Sarah Jessica Parker turned heads when she wore this gorgeous Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 dress whilst being interviewed for Access Hollywood in Central Park back in May 2010.

The actress looked unbelievably stylish in the baby blue V-neck, bubble hem dress which features a black and white paint print scattered over the dress.

Sarah added a pink blazer with contrasting black lapels and cuffs to her look, as well as killer blue and fuchsia lace up Nicholas Kirkwood suede platforms, a white bag and silver necklaces.

Alexa Chung attended Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2012 presentation in New York on Wednesday wearing the same dress.

The TV presenter added black accessories to her look including pointed toe, bow-adorned Louis Vuitton heels and a tasseled clutch.

A cameo necklace, dark red lips and tousled hair completed her ensemble.

SJP easily wins for me on her gorgeous shoes alone.

I love the addition of the pink blazer and think her pieces all work well together to create one super stylish ensemble.

Alexa’s basic black accessories fall flat in comparison.
