Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Who Wore Simone Rocha Better Alexa Chung or Chloe Moretz

Alexa Chung gave the Simone Rocha Spring 2013 collection its debut at the 2012 British Fashion Awards back in November.

I’m not surprised that Alexa was drawn to this sheer organza daisy-embroidered dress with a nipped-in waist as it has a schoolgirl vibe to it, which we have observed on several occasions as being her red carpet MO.

She styled the look with Nicholas Kirkwood ankle boots and a black Anya Hindmarch ‘Bathurst’ bag.

A few months later, young Chloe Moretz wore the same dress to the 2013 People’s Choice Awards, this time in a bright neon-yellow hue.

As much as I applaud her going for the more daring option, I was severely let down by Chloe when it came to her shoe choice, especially as she’s known for picking fancy footwear.

Alexa wins: I prefer her overall look from head to toe.

Alexa Chung In Carven - The Big British Invite

Alexa Chung attended The Big British Invite at 78 Mercer Street in New York City yesterday evening in her ongoing efforts to champion all things great about Britain overseas, which is her ambassadorial role.

However, she was feeling very Parisian when it came to her look, wearing a Carven Spring 2013 ensemble.

The look consisted of a tailored cotton-faille jacket with a notched collar and heart-shaped cut-out midsection, which she styled with a matching A-line skirt and a simple white shirt.

It’s not often we see Alexa in something so tailored; her looks often have a looser-fitting schoolgirl vibe to them.

She styled the look with black accessories, including pointy pumps and a pineapple brooch.

This brooch could be something of a good luck charm as she has been spotted wearing it a few times before.

Alexa Chung In Valentino - 2013 Brit Awards

Alexa Chung was also spotted on the red carpet at the 2013 Brit Awards, held at the O2 Arena in London this evening.

Temperatures have been slowing rising in the capital this week, which may have inspired the star to wear this Valentino embroidered belted ivory short set.

Much like Alexa’s Grammys look, its right for her style but feels wrong for the occasion – let alone the season. Plus I’m slightly baffled by the summery ensemble paired with her black Jimmy Choo ‘Agnes’ suede pumps.

Cropped pants would’ve been preferred.

Hair and makeup wise Alexa looks beautiful. I love that orange lip colour.

In a sea of sultry sparkle and sass, Alexa Chung made a ladylike statement on the red carpet the 2013 Grammy Awards, hosted at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night.

The British DJ and TV presenter, who is sometimes known to prefer edgy, androgynous looks, was altogether girly in a Valentino Red tea-length dress.

The flirty, daisy-printed frock was paired with a grey pump, but without the flash of any jewels.

The look was undeniably pretty, but it actually seemed better suited for a spring luncheon.

Alexa kept the casual, effortless vibe going with her loosely swept-back locks. Her bold lip, painted the same colour as the red carpet, was the biggest attention-grabber here.

Marni Fragrance LaunchA trendy list turned out to support the first Marni fragrance at an exclusive party on Tuesday, presented by Consuelo Castiglioni, at Marni Edition in New York City. British TV presenter and model Alexa Chung even had a DJ set in store for all those Marni mavens, who dressed for the occasion with bold and brave exits from the designer that ranged in style from cool-girl (and cool-boy) to sassy schoolgirl.

Alexa Chung: Along with her party playlist, Alexa delivered a prepster, winter-casual look with her top-to-toe Marni ensemble. She wore a toggle coat over a green printed shirt and high-waisted skinny jeans along with a blocky pair of metallic, Pilgrim-like loafers. It shouldn’t all work, but somehow she rocks it in her own way.

Christina Ricci: The actress didn’t get the casual memo like Alexa, instead donning a flirty Marni outfit with her girly green skirt and embellished blouse. She paired it with a beige zipper bag and plain black sandals that looked, well, a bit cold.

Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol: The two DJs from The Misshapes hit some interesting fashion chords. Sporting a new blonde do, Leigh’s candy-apple-red Chanel Spring 2013 overcoat and white shirt dress got an extra shot of quirk with those knee socks and red flats. Geordon played her cool companion, mixing things up with his blue and green micro-prints, matched with a black beanie and patent black shoes.

Were any of these looks ‘scent’-sational for you?

Alexa Chung In Chanel - amfAR New York Gala To Kick Off Fall 2013 Fashion Week

Alexa Chung joined Sarah Jessica Parker on the red carpet at Cipriani Wall Street for the amfAR New York Gala to kick off Fall 2013 Fashion Week.

The British TV host donned a head-to-toe girlie Chanel Spring 2013 look.

I find myself, much to my surprise, loving her black-and-white tweed dress, which is accented with pearls.

This is the right amount of girliness for Alexa without being too sickly sweet.

She styled her look with a Chanel shoulder bag and the same black toe-cap PVC pumps which took to the runway with her dress.

Simple, flawless makeup and an even simpler low, purposely messy ponytail completed her look.
