Poppy Delevingne & Alexa Chung for THE EDIT

unnamed

À la Thelma & Louise, Poppy Delevingne and Alexa Chung appear in NET-A-PORTER.COM weekly fashion glossy, THE EDIT on a girls-only road trip.

Poppy Delevingne writes about her kinship with Alexa, their wild nights, what bonds them together, the meaning of friendship and importance of encouraging each other.

On first meeting Alexa 10 years ago at a casting call: “I remember thinking she was very beautiful, almost cat-like, but definitely a bit of a bloke. She was wearing skinny jeans that I wanted/needed in my life immediately – a feeling I had no idea would resonate every time I saw her.”

On their shared fondness for spontaneous times: “The real turning point was when we went moonlit skinny-dipping in the sea at Cannes. It was spectacular. At 4:00 a.m., rummaging through bushes for our stray couture, I realized it wasn’t just another friendship.”

On her relationship with sister and model-of-the-moment, Cara Delevingne: “When it comes to work, I’m not competitive at all. Having Cara as my baby, I had to learn quite quickly that I couldn’t be competitive because I had a sister who meant more to me. And I know she was going to be brilliant, so I had to become very aware of not comparing.”

On sisterhood: “I don’t understand women who don’t encourage each other. I think compliments and showing affection are really important, too. Women don’t do that enough and it’s so essential, because even if you’re shy about giving a compliment, it’s good energy, it’s uplifting.”

Alexa Chung In Erdem – The Serpentine Gallery Summer Party

Alexa Chung In Erdem - The Serpentine Gallery Summer Party

Alexa Chung attended the annual Serpentine Gallery Summer Party held at The Serpentine Gallery on Tuesday (July 1) in London, England.

The presenter has been on a run which has been quite impressive; however, I have some quibbles with regards to her Erdem Fall 2014 strapless dress on this occasion.

While not everyone was wearing summery dresses to this event, this is as Fall as you can get, with the velvet material and heavy woven detailing.

Some lively accessories à la Donna Air would’ve perked up the look, but for me this is not really event appropriate, plus I had hoped to see this on Rooney Mara.

Flat-footed black shoes and a red lip colour completed her look.

Alexa Chung In Max Mara – Glastonbury Festival

Alexa Chung In Max Mara - Glastonbury Festival

Alexa Chung attended the Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm on Sunday (June 29) in Glastonbury, England.

The weather wasn’t that great in England over the weekend, but that didn’t stop the presenter donning this Max Mara Spring 2014 metallic-silver romper.

While it may be a bit d.i.s.c.o. for the mud fest which is Glastonbury, it was one of the few looks from this festival that I really liked.

Styled with a grey cardi wrapped around her waist and Glasto staples such as Hunter wellies and a Barbour jacket, was her romper too glitzy for the festival?

Alexa Chung In Carven – Out In New York City

Alexa Chung In Carven - Out In New York City

Alexa Chung was back stateside where she was spotted taking a stroll in New York City on Wednesday (June 18) afternoon.

The brunette TV personality wore a thigh-skimming dress featuring striped blouse-like sleeves and side panelling, plus an maroon lace body from Carven’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection.

Alexa is a huge fan of Guillaume Henry’s flirty feminine designs, so while this is a transitional Pre-Fall 2014 dress, the stripes give the look a height-of-summer wear-right-now appeal.

Bionda Castana ‘Nicole’ ankle strap pumps completed her look.

Alexa Chung In Saint Laurent – MyTheresa.com and Anya Hindmarch Dinner

Alexa Chung In Saint Laurent - MyTheresacom and Anya Hindmarch Dinner

MyTheresa.com and Anya Hindmarch hosted a dinner in London on Tuesday (June 10) at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Alexa Chung was in attendance wearing an impeccably tailored Saint Laurent Pre-Fall 2014 red velvet sharp-lapel suit paired with a no-fuss co-ordinating mini pencil skirt.

Keeping the look effortlessly cool, she wore her fiery suit with a simple black tee.

Not one to opt for too much jewelry, she did add some bling to her look via her Tabitha Simmons ‘Heart’ black flats with a contrasting embellished front panel and T-bar fastening plus a Anya Hindmarch shoulder bag.

Barely there makeup and a simple updo completed her look.

I must be coming down with something. I like this look too. Especially the shoes. I am having a moment with flats right now.
