Red Carpet Fashion Awards

I knew we’d see Alex Curran at Aintree this weekend.

The WAG joined a host of other WAGs – including Coleen Rooney – at the Grand National on Saturday.

Alex who’s known for her love of Balmain surprised me by wearing an Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2009 Couture mini dress.

I was surprised because I assumed she was only aware of mainstream/popular/of the moment labels.

I must admit I do love her in this dress which shows off her amazingly long legs.

She could’ve easily over accesorized, but she kept her taupe Couture dress with batwing sleeves and bold shoulders simple.

The look was paired with matching platform heels and a matching studded clutch.

Looking good for a mother-of-two who’s not wearing spanx.

Yep, it’s Alex Curran again.

That takes her Balmain shopping total to around £40,000.

The WAG was seen shopping in Liverpool recently wearing her latest addition to go shopping.

I much admit I do love this Balmain tweed jacket which she pairs with Topshop panelled zip leggings and studded ankle boots.

She may have horrible dress sense, but she sure knows how to shop, but being a WAG it’s part of her job description.

Some of you didn’t understand why I called Alex Curran a hypocrite for stating that she thinks Balmain prices are ridiculous, yet she spent approximately £27,000 on several pieces.

Well she took her hypocrisy to £33,000 last night when she attended the launch party of a new Hilton Hotel in Liverpool wearing a Balmain leather motorcyle jacket with the Balmain buckle-embellished suede boots.

This jacket cost £6,360.

Balmain have said, “‘Balmain has a very strict policy on celebrity dressing and only works with celebrities that correspond with the brand’s image. We have never worked with Mrs Curran so I assume she has purchased the samples”.”

So was not a loaned to her by Balmain, nor was she given it for free, she – or as someone rightly pointed out earlier this week, her £100k per week earning footballer husband Stevie G – paid for it.

My problem is not with her purchasing the jacket, it’s the ridiculous statement she made in Vogue prior to being seen head-to-toe in Balmain on several occasions.

With all that being said it’s an ace jacket.

“Balmain’s prices are absolutely ridiculous”.

What a hypocrite.

We saw many look from looks from Rihanna during Paris Fashion Week back in October.

On her way to Balmain’s Spring 2010 presentation she was spotted wearing a Balmain ensemble which included a blazer, lace bustier and satin harem pants.

This ensemble looks like it was made for Rihanna, given that she channels “edgy chic” so well.

I like the way that Rihanna has worn her trousers higher and gone without a belt, which the harem pants don’t need.

WAG Alex Curran wore the same look earlier this month to the “Cricket’s Christmas Party” in Liverpool.

How does she always manage to turn everything she wears from Chic to Cheap?

The black lace just looks tacky on her.

The fake tan doesn’t do her any favours either.

Alex was quoted in the January 2010 edition of UK Vogue saying Balmain’s prices are “absolutely ridiculous”.

Funny then that this was the second Balmain look she’d worn in that same week.

For me this is a clear Rihanna victory.
