Adele In Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci – 2017 Grammy Performances

While Adele was glorious in a green Givenchy gown on the 2017 Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday (February 12) in LA, she also offered up two additional performance looks that were just as compelling for her big night that saw her taking home five trophies.

Look 1: Her first performance gown was a custom Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci piece featuring multi-coloured Swarovski crystals and a plisse skirt. I love how the stained glass pattern, formed by the crystals, illuminated this look and only further increased Adele’s radiance on stage.

Look 2: As her second performance was a tribute to the late George Michael, she wore a more sombre custom Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown inspired by the Fall 2012 Couture collection. Darker in form, the look gained its richness from the embossed velvet and cape of fringe that still delivered high on subtle drama.

The first look was my favourite for its vibrant hues. Which did you prefer?

Adele In Givenchy Couture – 2017 Grammy Awards

Adele made a striking appearance on the red carpet of the 2017 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12).

The singer wore a long-sleeved, embellished olive green Givenchy gown from the Fall 2016 Couture collection.

There is so much ‘win’ to this look that I don’t even know where to begin. The color is unique and stunning with Adele’s hair color. And since everyone knows I am crazy about long-sleeved red carpet looks, it’s needless to say that I’m loving the modifications made from the runway version.

The polka dot and lace detailing on the sleeves add even more interest to the already dramatic look, but even with so much detail, everything is in perfect union.

Her signature dramatic makeup and a softly upswept chignon complete this stunning look.

Adele In Stella McCartney – Investitures Ceremony

Adele In Stella McCartney - Investitures CeremonyAdele was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to music, presented to her by Prince Charles, during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London, England on Thursday (December 19).

The British singer-songwriter was decked out in a dress from Stella McCartney’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection, which had been modified from the lookbook version.

On Adele, the navy and green, feather jacquard printed frock was fitted into a more streamlined, elegant silhouette, replacing the exaggerated flutter sleeve with long sleeves and removing the dropped waist silhouette in exchange for a below-the-knee hemline.

In addition to her medal of honour, she accessorized with a netted headband Philip Treacy fascinator, accented with a jewelled brooch. Of course, her embellished, blue talon manicure was perfectly designed for the occasion.

Adele For Elle US May 2013

Adele Elle US May 2013

UK singer-superstar Adele covers the May 2013 issue of Elle US for their Women In Music issue, which also features Alicia Keys and Rita Ora.

The Golden Globe, Academy Award and Grammy winner was shot by Thomas Whiteside at L.A.’s EastWest Studios – the studio made famous by icons like Frank Sinatra – wearing a black lace vintage Alberta Ferretti dress and sporting a beehive ‘do and smoky eyes.

The music issue includes a tribute to Adele and the thoughts of fellow musicians – including Katy Perry, Britney Spears, John Mayer and legend Barbra Streisand – on her meteoric rise to fame.

Adele talks to Elle about taking her time with her third album, the highest point of her career, the worst show she ever performed and the song which always gets her on the dance floor.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

On her third album: “I’m writing the songs now, and then I’ll want to rehearse them for a while. As much as I love my first album, there are still things that I wish I had done differently. So I don’t want to rush anything. You’re only as good as your last record, so if I put out something that’s shit, nobody’s going to buy it. If it’s crap, people will be like, “Why was she ever such a big deal?” So I have to take my time. I mean, if it takes me three years, I imagine people will start getting a bit nervy… but I’ll do my best to avoid that.”

On the high point in her career: “Winning the Grammys! To be nominated for a Grammy would have been a highlight, but winning just blew my mind.”

On the worst show she ever played: “One of my first gigs, in 2006, in a dinky little pub in East London. I didn’t realize that I was headlining: I thought I was on at 8 p.m., but it turned out that I wasn’t on until about 2 a.m. It was a Friday night, so I had invited all my friends and my family, and there were probably another 300 people there who had heard about me and come to watch me. Anyway, I got so drunk between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. I played three songs, I forgot the words, and I fell off my chair. It was a free show, thankfully. Can you imagine paying to see someone forget their own lyrics and fall off their chair? Worst thing ever. That’s why I stopped drinking”.

On her go-to party song: “When I want to party, I play “Crazy in Love.” That’s always been the song that my friends and I get ready to; or before I go on a first date, I play it to feel sexy.”

The publication will be hosting it’s annual ELLE Women In Music event in New York City this evening with Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Mia Moretti, and Jourdan Dunn all expected to attend.

Elle’s May 2013 issue hits newsstands April 23.

Adele In Burberry – 2013 Oscars Performance

Adele In Burberry - 2013 Oscars Performance

Adele continued to wave the flag for British fashion at the 2013 Oscars when she took to the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles yesterday evening, for the performance of her Oscar winning song, ‘Skyfall’.

Having worn Jenny Packham on the red carpet, Adele donned a Burberry frock on this occasion, in her favoured colour black.

I love the shape of her black silk dress with degradé embroidered crystals, as it nipped her in at the waist giving her a beautiful silhouette.

Wearing her second pair of custom Christian Louboutin ‘Bibi’ strass pumps – this time in silver – Adele completed her look with a glorious voluminous bouffant.
