Best Dressed Of The Week – Emma Stone In Valentino, Lucy Liu In Proenza Schouler, Adam Lambert In Kris Van Assche & Dave Franco In Band of Outsiders

BDOTW 5 May

Emma Stone took home the prize for best dressed of the week for a second time in a row, this time for her red Valentino mini dress styled with Valentino ankle-strap shoes.

It’s early days yet, but Emma is surely in contention for best promo-tour star of 2014.

I had a really tough decision this week, between Ashley Madekwe in Lanvin and Lucy Liu in Proenza Schouler. No surprises that I ended up opting for the latter.

Lucy can adapt to just about any style. She doesn’t work an edgier angle often, so this look was a pleasant, well-styled and well-executed change.

Aura Garrido In Oscar de la Renta – ‘Carmina y Amen’ Malaga Film Festival Premiere

Aura Garrido in Oscar de la Renta - 'Carmina y Amen' Malaga Film Festival Premiere

Following the opening ceremony, Aura Garrido had a second chance to shine at the ‘Carmina y Amen’ premiere on Day 2 of the 17th Malaga Film Festival held at the Cervantes Theatre on Saturday (March 22) in Malaga, Spain.

The actress’s look was much improved, this time wearing an Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014 strapless indigo-and-white floral fil-coupé silk-gazar bubble-peplum dress that creates beautiful shape and silhouette.

Styled with a gold-trimmed Mascaró clutch, gold sandals and Anton Heunis jewels, with flowing glossy waves and a pink lip, this for me is a BDOTW-worthy look.

What an amazing turnaround from Day 1.

You can buy Aura’s Oscar de la Renta Floral Bustled-Peplum Dress from

Who Wore Vivienne Westwood MAN Better…Matthew McConaughey or Adam Lambert?

Who Wore Vivienne Westwood MAN Better Matthew McConaughey or Adam Lambert

On one of the first times Matthew McConaughey stepped out of his Dolce & Gabbana comfort zone, the actor attended a screening of his movie ‘Mud’ wearing a checked Vivienne Westwood Man suit back in April.

Styling the look almost exactly as it was worn on the runway, with the logo-engraved-button-accented chain closure, he completed his look with a white unbuttoned shirt and black shoes.

Adam Lambert wore the same suit to ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino late last year, opting to make the look his own deciding not to wear the blazer.

Even as someone who tends to favour three-piece suits, there is no denying that Adam’s look is much better. I almost feel like Matthew’s look has too much going on in comparison.

Adam Lambert In Vivienne Westwood MAN – ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ Opening Night

Adam Lambert In Vivienne Westwood MAN - ‘Britney Piece of Me’ Opening Night

Adam Lambert joined Miley Cryus and Katy Perry for the grand opening of Britney Spears’ two-year residency, ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Wednesday, December 27, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As you would expect, the singer didn’t play it safe opting for a blue-and-burgundy-checked Vivienne Westwood Man suit, accented with a safe pin brooch. A simple white shirt, black lace up shoes, a selection of jewels and a perfectly trimmed beard rounded out the look.

This is a great look, even if it feels slightly mute by Adam’s standards. I hope to see a lot more of him in 2014.

Having a case of déjà vu?

That’s because you may remember that Matthew McConaughey wore the same suit, with a waistcoat, to the ‘Mud’ screening back in April last year.

Menswear Roundup

Menswear roundup 9 decemberAn eclectic mix of men took to the red carpet today and over the weekend, where their looks ranged from regal to, well, a bit more wild. The unifying factor? All the guys worked some degree of facial scruff.

James McAvoy: To accept his ‘Best Actor’ Award at the 2013 British Independent Film Awards on Sunday in London, James wore a brown plaid Burberry suit, complemented by a baby-blue button-down shirt and brown silk tie. The tailoring could have been better, as the pants fell a bit long.

Adam Lambert: Always the sartorial show-off, the singer put his own flair on Sunday’s 15th annual Trevor Project Benefit, honouring Jane Lynch, in Hollywood, California. There was no missing his mulberry suit, swirled in an artsy, leafy abstracted pattern, which he paired with a charcoal-grey shirt. The heavy black loafers were a clunky contrast.

Christian Bale: Joining Bradley Cooper at the ‘American Hustle’ New York screening on Sunday, the actor walked on the dark side. He took a monochromatic, all-black approach in a Gucci notch-lapel, two button Brera suit, paired with a black dress shirt and black leather lace-up shoes.
