Lily Collins for Lancôme

Maybe it was her hypnotic eyebrows (which have their own Twitter page), her flawless skin, her love of bold lip colours, or a combination of the three which enticed Lancôme to snap up Lily Collins as a new rose (an English rose) to represent their brand amongst their already blossoming English actress hall of fame, which already includes Emma Watson and Kate Winslet.

The 24-year-old actress and daughter of 80s pop icon Phil Collins will be kicking off her brand ambassadorship in January with their spring makeup collection ‘Ballerine’.

“With her charm, gracefulness, modernity and lively wit, Lily Collins is the perfect embodiment of femininity according to Lancôme,” stated Françoise Lehmann, general manager of Lancôme International.

Beauty

The next generation of Hollywood elite were out in full force at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood Party, and while the beauty looks were as diverse as the career trajectories, ‘look-at-me’ eyes were certainly on display.

Hailee Steinfeld and her makeup artist Jenn Streicher kept with her grunge-themed look by tight-lining her eyes with black liner, going heavy on the mascara and finishing off the edgy look with a thick silvery gray liner right below the bottom lashes–a version of a long-standing beauty trend.

Makeup artist Grace Phillips made Holland Roden’s eyes pop by giving her a fresh take on the cat eye: After tight-lining the star’s eyes with black liner, she then added a heavier line from the center of each eyelid toward the outer corners. Finally, a shimmery gray shadow was applied and given a subtle wing to create that modern cat eye effect.

And proving that sometimes the eyelashes can do all the talking, Victoria Justice hit the red carpet with eyelashes for miles, for a timelessly gorgeous look.

Rihanna Mac

While we already know what to expect from Rihanna’s partnership with M.A.C. after the release of her summer collection, next week marks the launch of the RiRi Hearts MAC Fall collection, and it’s much more expansive than its predecessor.

The collection will include two eye shadow quads–one with warm browns and nudes, and the other with cool blues and grays–four lipsticks–a nude, orange and deep plum, along with the RiRi Woo matte red shade that was previously released, along with blush, two brushes, mascara, eyebrow pencils, liquid eyeliner, two lip pencils, a lip gloss and more.

And just as we’ve seen before, the collection will be packaged in beautiful rose gold and marked with Rihanna’s signature (which also happens to be pressed into the lipsticks and the powder blush duo).

The collection will be available in M.A.C. stores in the U.S. on September 26, online September 30, and in international stores in October.

Are you a fan of M.A.C.’s celebrity collaborations, and will you be checking out this one?

Beauty 1

After seven days of high fashion and stunning beauty, we’ve compiled a list of the spring beauty trends from New York Fashion Week that we think celebrities will be rocking on the red carpet soon.

Nails: The ‘Floating Moon’ Mani
Nail art isn’t going anywhere, but it is taking a minimalistic turn for spring. At Milly by Michelle, butterLONDON manicurist Katie Jane Hughes painted just the moon of the fingernails in the shade Cotton Buds and then filled in the rest of the nail with a nude shade.

Eyes: The Rose Gold Smokey Eye
If you don’t know that rose gold is all the rage, then you definitely haven’t been paying attention! And at Jason Wu, the shade was used to create a thoroughly modern smokey eye. Makeup artist Diane Kendal used the shimmery caramel colour from Lancome Color Design Eye Brightening All-in-One 5 Pan Shadow & Liner Palette in Bronze Amour to lay a lovely bronze cat-eye shape base, and then applied rose gold coloured glitter over the top. This would be such a high impact look at the Academy Awards in March!

Lips: Vibrant violet
This past spring and summer, stars had lots of fun with bright pink and even orange lips, and next up, they’ll be experimenting with violet. At Prabal Gurung, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury created an eye-catching violet lip by mixing M.A.C. Lipmix in white and burgundy for her own custom shade. Emma Rossum loves to play with colour, so I’d love to see her try this out first.

Hair: Sleek Ponytails
It may not be a new trend, but the perfectly sleek ponytail, loved by supermodels and actresses alike, is going to be a huge trend this spring. The look was seen on the runways of designers such as Victoria Beckham, Altuzarra and Jason Wu. At Altuzarra, hairstylist Odile Gilbert began by making a center part and then blow-drying the hair with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante and sealing the ends with Kérastase Fibre Architecte. The hair was then pulled back into a low, sleek ponytail and finished with Kérastase Laque Dentelle.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY

Charlotte Tilbury is one of the beauty industry’s experts, with over two decades of A-list experience having worked with top photographers including Mario Testino and Mert and Marcus; supermodels such as Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen; and magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, LOVE and V Magazine.

Her portfolio also includes high-profile fashion shows and campaigns such as Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Rachel Zoe and Missoni.

Sharing her expertise via her YouTube channel providing makeup tutorial videos, it was only a matter of time before a makeup line was the next step.

This month she launched her revolutionary new makeup collection, including signature products such as ‘Charlotte’s Magic Cream’; she has been mixing this cream for years and is well-known in the industry for its use backstage on models and celebrities alike.

You can also recreate her signature smoky-eye look with the much-hyped ‘Full Fat’ mascara.

What I love most about this collection – as someone who isn’t particularly au fait with makeup application – is that each product is packaged with expert tips for effortless application and transformative results.

You can buy the Charlotte Tilbury Make-up Collection from Net-A-Porter International and Selfridges.
