Get The Look: Dascha Polanco’s Emmy Awards Ethereal Beauty Look

66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - ArrivalsUnlike her character on ‘Orange Is The New Black,’ Dascha Polanco sparkled on the Emmy Awards red carpet. While her goddess-like Johanna Johnson flowing gown was an inspiration for celebrity makeup artist, Lucky Smyler, the look was all about highlighting Dascha’s natural features.

Luminous skin, cool iridescent tones and highlights were essential characteristics in Dascha’s ethereal Emmy’s beauty look. Lucky took the opportunity to accentuate Dascha’s beautiful eyes and skin and used unexpected tones of light mint.

Here’s how you can achieve this glamorous and whimsical look yourself:

SKIN
Prep: To achieve that radiant creamy canvas, Lucky prepped Dascha’s skin with SheaMoisture Misting Toner and followed with SheaMoisture Primer, evenly applying it with a foundation brush.

Foundation: The goal was to create a smooth and creamy even finish. Lucky achieved that by applying SheaMoisture Sheer Liquid Foundation in Yasuni Honey with a dampened sponge and gently stippled the product along the skin. He proceeded by sweeping SheaMoisture Concealer in Snowdonia Fawn along her under eyes with his ring finger.

Set: He continued by sculpting the face with Color Correcting Contouring and Highlighting Palette in Medium Light, neatly contouring the face along the hairline, cheekbones and jaw area. To lock in the freshness and dewy quality of the skin, Lucky applied Yala Golden Pressed Powder to skin.

Finish (Glow): To achieve that glowing ethereal look, Lucky illuminated the skin with SheaMoisture Illuminating Powder in Cinnamon Ceylon and Mandalay Dusk. He enhanced the previous contouring and applied a final dusting of SheaMoisture Annecy Maroon Mineral Blush along the apples of the cheeks.

EYES
Prep: To prep the lids, Lucky dusted SheaMosture Eyeshadow in Cecilia on the lid and brow bone. The pale tone of eye shadow served as a highlight and framing shade for the additional colors.

Color: Lucky used a damp shadow brush to apply a mixture of the base shade and Deysi Eyeshadow to the lids. Due to the iridescent quality of the shadows, a dampened brush allowed for a more intense pigment upon application.

Finish: He framed Dascha’s eyes with a swipe of black liquid liner and followed with generous layers of a volumizing and lengthening mascara to her lashes.

LIPS
Prep: To achieve a pillow soft lip, Lucky exfoliated, moisturized and primed Dascha’s lips with SheaMoisture Lip Exfoliator.

Color: Once the lips were primed, Lucky applied SheaMoisture Roberta Lipstick Crayon and blotted. This allowed the color to set as more of a stain rather than flat color and followed with a final coat of the same product.

Finish: To further highlight her lips, Lucky finished with a layer of SheaMoisture Lipgloss in Rosie.

Get The Look: Lena Dunham’s Emmy Awards Pink Metallic Manicure

Get The Look Lena Dunham’s Emmy Awards Pink Metallic Manicure

Lena Dunham isn’t one to play it safe when it comes to red carpet style and the 2014 Emmy Awards was no exception. The vibrant ‘Girls’ star stepped out in a daring Giambattista Valli Couture gown and equally statement making manicure.

While her whimsical tulle layered dress featured a gradient of pink hues, nail superstar, Deborah Lippmann dressed Lena’s nails in a metallic magenta that perfectly set off her full look.

Here’s how you can recreate this luxe chrome manicure yourself:

Prep: Deborah prepped Lena’s nails using her signature 5-step manicure technique: cleanse, shape, exfoliate and hydrate (hands/nails). Starting with Deborah Lippmann The Stripper, she removed any polish and impurities from Lena’s nails and proceeded to shape them using Deborah Lippmann Smooth Operator, a 4-way multi nail buffer.

Once nails were clean, Deborah used her Cuticle Remover and hydrated the nails and surrounding skin with Deborah Lippmann Cuticle Oil. She finished by generously coating Lena’s hands in Deborah Lippmann Rich Girl SPF 2 Hand Cream and massaging it into the skin.

Foundation: To insure a clean and even base on the nails, Deborah applied a layer of her Ridge Filler Base Coat to nails. Not only does this fill in any bumps, ridges and inconsistencies in the nail bed, but this vital product acts as a concealer on the nail.

Colour: Once dry, she applied two even coats of 12th Street Rag, a metallic magenta luxe chrome nail colour. This ultra-rich shade is a new polish from her Fall 2014 collection, New York Marquee.

Finish: To further enhance Lena’s metallic manicure, Deborah followed with a coat of her Gel Lab Top Coat, leaving her nails dressed in a high gloss finish.

Halle Berry was the picture of true elegance at the 2014 Emmy Awards (August 25th). Gliding along the red carpet in a stunning Elie Saab gown, celebrity makeup artist, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, was deeply inspired by the soft dusty rose tones of the dress.

Keeping with its fluidity and soft nature, Kara created a look that highlighted these stunning aspects. She emphasizes that choosing a proper shadow tone is crucial in achieving a specific look.

Emmy Awards Beauty Trend Spotting: The New Nude Lip

Emmy Awards Beauty Trend Spotting The New Nude Lip

This isn’t the traditional nude that camouflages your lips, making them unnoticeable. The new nude lips actually accentuate the natural tones of your skin allowing lips to pop in the subtlest way. Take cue from Julia Roberts, Kerry Washington, Lizzy Caplan, and Natalie Dorimer who were amongst the many celebs that flaunted the updated au naturel trend on the red carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Carole Gonzalez balanced Kerry Washington’s navy smokey eye with an updated nude lip. Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel was used to make her neutral pout pop. The shimmering shade provides sheer wash of color and is ideal for complexions with warm undertones. When choosing a nude it’s important to pay attention to your skin’s undertones.

Los Angeles based celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey played up the flesh tones on Natalie Dorimer. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide- On Lip Pencil in Naked was used to line her lips. You can even make more room in your clutch and leave this one at home. This waterproof liner will get you through the entire evening. It also doubles as a primer to prep lips for lipstick or a gloss.

Bailey topped off Dorimer’s look with L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Pink Perseverance. This shade works well on those who have cool undertones and it won’t leave lips feeling dry like other stains.

Get The Look: Natalie Dormer’s Emmy Award Defined Eyes

66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - ArrivalsCelebrity Makeup Artist Jake Bailey created Natalie Dormer’s beauty look for the 2014 Emmy Awards.

Talking about his beauty inspiration, Jake said “The focus of Natalie’s look was most definitely her eyes. She has such gorgeous blue almond-shaped eyes and I really wanted to showcase them.”

Here’s how to get the look.

When doing this much eye makeup, Jake always begins with the eyes so that any eyeshadow that falls on the face during application can be cleaned up afterwards, before applying foundation or blush.

He began by lining her top lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion and blending it softly with his fingertip. Then he applied a warm shimmery brown shade, Lancome Color Design Shadow in Pose, all over her lids and into the crease. He lined her lower lash line with Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in Smog, blending it with his fingertip to soften. Then he applied a pair of mink lashes from Velour called ‘Are Those Real?’ and coated them with Urban Decay Mascara in Perversion.

Once the eyes were finished, Jake buffed a small amount of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Creamy Vanilla over her skin using a soft flat-tipped kabuki brush.

Warming her cheeks using a combo of equal parts Le Blush Crème de Chanel blush in Affinite and NARS Luminizer in Copacabana, he mixed the two on the back of his hand to create a custom glowy blush.

He then dusted her face with a touch of Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder in Ivory. Once powdered he used NARS Contour Blush in Olympia to accentuate her cheekbones by blending a small amount into the hollows of her cheeks.

Jake finished the look by lining her lips with Urban Decay 24/7 lip liner in Naked and topping it with L’Oreal Color Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Pink Perseverance.

Get The Look: Zooey Deschanel’s Feminine and Fierce Emmy Awards Makeup

66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - ArrivalsCelebrity makeup artist Jorjee Douglass created Zooey Deschanel’s feminine and fierce look for the Emmy Awards, giving her a fun, youthful makeup look created by using Charlotte Tilbury products.

“Normally for Zooey I use a coral-coloured blush,” says Jorjee about how Zooey’s bright Oscar De La Renta gown encouraged her to try something new. “Charlotte Tilbury blush in Love Is The Drug gave Zooey just that subtle pop of pink that she needed!”

Here’s how to create the look.

Jorjee started by hydrating her skin to reduce any signs of dullness before hitting the red carpet with Charlotte’s Magic Cream – a product that helps treat and transform tired skin.
Then, she prepped her face and eyes with The Retoucher Conceal & Treat Stick, which helped Zooey’s eyeshadow glide on smoothly and easily when applied to the lids.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow was mixed together with foundation and lightly applied all over the face to create just the right amount of low-lit glimmer to what was otherwise a youthful, matte look made possible with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder which helped to control shine.

Mixing-and-matching copper colours from two Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palettes in The Dolce Vita and The Golden Goddess ensured a pearly, beautifully radiant accentuated eye.

To make Zooey’s eyes pop, Jorjee first dusted the lash line with a liquid liner then used Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Colour Morphing Eyeshadow in Champagne Diamonds, with a Dark Pearl shade being used to accentuate the lash line by smudging the liner slightly.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher in Love Is The Drug was applied to create a youthful flush with a fresh finish.

Finally, Charlotte Tilbury Lip Lustre in Ibiza Nights was applied for a brilliant mirror-shine finish that helped to create a 3-dimensional, voluminous pout.
