Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Carey Mulligan was spotted on her way to the Junior Spring Benefit wearing Yves Saint Laurent “Trib too” platform pumps.

These pumps weighed her Valentino dress down. She really could have used a splash of colour; especially since it’s summer.

Shoes Carey Should Have Worn:

Nicholas Kirkwood’s suede peep-toe platform pumps would have worked with Carey’s entire look – even her pink lip colour. The details in Kirkwood’s latest Fall 2011 collection are exquisite and this pump features a kiltie fringe.

I love the wooden platform on these bright orange Casadei suede open toe pumps. They’re completely different from the boring heels Carey wore.

Rupert Sanderson’s Fabia multi-colour python pumps are stunning! These heels are my favourite choice as they add both colour and excitement to her outfit.

Alaïa’s metallic pewter leather sandals complement Carey’s metallic clutch. Even though they’re heavily embellished with studs, they match the level of detail on her laser cut Valentino dress.

Spiderweb Heels

Recently several shoe designers have been inspired by spiderwebs.

Arachnophobia or not, these beautiful heels will ensnare major attention.

Christian Louboutin created a crystal embellished web d’Orsay pump in his latest Fall 2011 collection.

Mr Louboutin describes his fascination with spiderwebs in a video interview with CNN saying that his design was influenced by a scientific study on spiders.

Yves Saint Laurent has also been bitten by the spider trend and created a dramatic web wedge.

This heel features many thin suede straps, a metallic gold leather covered wedge and an adorable buckle charm.

Roger Vivier has designed a very original ‘Spider’ sandal in his Fall 2011 collection.

This satin heel is available in two color combinations; pink or black & gold.

Even though we will have to wait for the ‘Spider’ to be available in retail, model Jessica Stam has already worn these heel to the MET Gala.

Kirsten Dunst was spotted at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival wearing Jimmy Choo ‘Ontario’ strappy suede sandals. These sandals have web-like straps that wrap around the ankle.

Charlize Theron was also spotted recently wearing Dior Paradis sandals with a spiderweb-like detail.

Kirsten Dunst was spotted at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony wearing vintage Valentino black pumps.

Your response from Kirsten’s last post overwhelming agreed that she picked the wrong heels.

Kirsten’s dress already had enough going; her heels should have been minimal and/or metallic.

Shoes Kirsten Should Have Worn:

Jimmy Choo’s Lotus slingback sandals are perfection and they are my favorite choice. The Swarovski crystal appliqué compliments her dress and her jewels.

The metallic silver Jimmy Choo India sandals are the safest choice for Kirsten. They’re classic and simple. Blake Lively understands when a simple shoe is need; she paired a very similar Louboutin heel with her glamourous Chanel dress at the MET Gala.

Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi satin pumps are so decadent. These dark grey heels feature a crystal buckle and contrast beautifully with her outfit.

If Kirsten wanted to stay with a pump, these Brian Atwood Debra slingbacks are a much better option. Emma Roberts paired Atwood metallic pumps with her Chanel dress which kept her look young and fresh.

Cheryl Cole was spotted wearing Marc by Marc Jacobs polka dot t-strap wedges to the X-Factor auditions in Chicago.

I completely agree with the Fashion Critic; these wedges were major overkill.

Her attempt to connect the dots from head to toe distracted the attention away from her beautiful Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress.

Shoes Cheryl Should Have Worn:

Charlotte Olympia’s textured cotton Dolores platform pumps add the right pop of colour to Cheryl’s outfit. They also match the cuteness of her look and her red nail polish.

If Cheryl wanted to stick with a wedge, these black Chloé satin Amanda wooden wedges are a much better option. They’re beautiful and an unexpected choice.

I never thought these Yves Saint Laurent’s black suede and raffia heeled Gipsy sandals would make it on any of my posts. I personally have never been a huge fan of these heels; however, with Cheryl’s outfit they completely work.

Christian Louboutin’s Fine Bretelle slingbacks are a safe and easy fit for Cheryl. They’re a twist on the classic Mary Jane pump featuring a thin strap and slingback.

Astrid Berges-Frisbey was spotted at the “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” London Premiere wearing black Rupert Sanderson ’New’ Estelle platform sandals.

I agree with the majority of the readers’ comments from the earlier post that these heels look horrible with her outfit!

Astrid should get a new stylist.

Shoes Astrid Should Have Worn:

Alexandre Birman’s cut-out python sandals are a nice contrast to Astrid’s dress. The taupe leather trim ties the pink accent colours together.

A nude or pastel coloured heel would have worked best and these Versace patent leather sandals are my favourite choice for Astrid. They’re simple, beautiful and a perfect match.

Jimmy Choo’s metallic rose ’Lance’ sandals are another fabulous option. These sandals feature multiple straps but look delicate on the red carpet as displayed by Jennifer Lawrence.

If Astrid wanted to stick to a Rupert Sanderson shoe, the ’Seville’ pumps are a lovely pink shoe. These were the first pumps that came to mind when I saw her outfit.

Which shoes would you pick for Astrid?
