St. Vincent In Céline – 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

St Vincent In Céline - 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, joined Lorde on stage for the tribute to Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s history and legacy which saw them inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in a ceremony held at the Barclays Center on Thursday (April 10) in New York City.

Just yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that we don’t see enough Céline on the red carpet, and then, like buses, two came along at once.

As someone commented on the post, the key to making this look work is to break down the runway styling.

St. Vincent did just that, wearing the colourful brush-stroke mini dress without the sheer pleated skirt.

While I loved the additional skirt, St. Vincent’s look packs a mighty punch as a perfect rock chick performance piece.

Lorde In Vionnet – 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

Lorde In Vionnet - 29th Annual Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony

Lorde took the place of Nirvana’s late singer Kurt Cobain to perform on stage with the Seattle band, who reunited for their Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony held at the Barclays Center on April 10, 2014 in New York City.

Known for her love of all things black and a deep-berry lip, she kept the latter and switched up the former, wearing a bright-pink Vionnet suit.

Tailored for a loose, boxy fit, the Pre-Fall 2014 two-piece was styled with a black bralet top and black creepers.

Carrie Underwood In Georges Chakra Couture – ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Troops

Carrie Underwood In Georges Chakra Couture - ACM Presents An All-Star Salute To The Troops

Carrie Underwood attended the ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute To The Troops held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Monday (April 7) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I wanted her to give me some frou-frou at the ACM Awards, so she obliged – albeit a day later – performing at this event wearing a heavenly Georges Chakra Fall 2013 Couture cap-sleeved silver-beaded white cocktail dress with a full skirt which fits her style to a tee.

She added sparkling Jimmy Choo shoes and silver jewels to complement her look.

Should she have saved this for the ACM Awards?

Shakira In Zuhair Murad & Kristian Aadnevik – ACM Awards 2014

Shakira In Zuhair Murad & Kristian Aadnevik - ACM Awards 2014

With her Blake Shelton country connection, it was not a surprise to see Latin singer Shakira at the 49th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (April 6) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Red Carpet: She took to the red carpet looking uber sexy wearing a Zuhair Murad Fall 2014 teal silk-jersey long-sleeved gown featuring an embroidered bodice with a sheer nude silk detail and black laddered-tights effect, styled with signature wavy tresses. In the wrong hands this could’ve been incredibly tacky, but Shakira’s hips don’t lie.

Performance: For her emotional high-energy performance with fellow ‘The Voice’ judge Blake Shelton of their new song ‘Medicine’, Shakira changed into a fiery red number from Kristian Aadnevik’s Fall 2014 collection. She styled the corseted red lingerie-inspired mini dress with over-the-knee boots and flesh-coloured fishnet tights. This look I was less enamoured with. Even for a performance look, I found it a little cheesy.

Zhang Ziyi In Sass & Bide – ‘Entertainment Experience China’ Launch

Zhang Ziyi In Sass & Bide - 'Entertainment Experience China' Launch

Hollywood director John Woo and actress Zhang Ziyi announced their participation in the Emmy Award winning cross media project Entertainment Experience China which is planned to start in May 2014, at an event held at the Renaissance Hotel on Friday (April 4) in Beijing, China.

The actress wore a Sass & Bide Spring 2014 ensemble of two parts: a strapless dress featuring a vest-style top and flirty polka-dot skirt; styled with a black collarless blazer.

A part of me likes this look, especially when styled with the black-and-white Giuseppe Zanotti zig-zag pumps, because it’s has an edgy, yet sweet vibe going on, plus the structured tailoring, but the other takes me back to that Chloe disaster, which also featured a polka-dot skirt from last year.
