Katy Perry certainly knows how to put on a performance.

Hosting last night’s MTV EMA’s the singer made the event her own by showcasing a spectrum of crazy fashion finds.

Pictured in an alarming Viktor & Rolf Spring 2009 ball gown, Katy opted for shock tactics on the stage.

The strangely shaved netting and bullet-hole-style cavity is a bit too eerie for such a light-hearted event.

I loved the dramatics in Viktor & Rolf’s Spring presentation, however this dress screams ‘DANGER!’ Sorry Katy, car-crash couture.

This is more like it.

Sampling a Marchesa 2010 dress, Katy looks like something from a vamped-up version of a swan-lake production.

Feathers seem to be a favourite with Marchesa for Spring 2010.

Here they complement the lace body, adding movement and texture and give Katy the extra detail that she needs. This dress has already been worn by Camilla Belle.

I love the white on Katy. It’s clean, fresh and works with her dark hair and eyes radiantly.

This Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2009 gown has hints of both pin-up glamour and a 1930’s flapper dress.

Katy is captivating here, the sparkling blue sequins and pearls on the dress turn Katy from a loopy pop-star into a siren.

Showing off her figure, and quite rightly too, Katy sticks with a more mature look.

Katy wore a second look by Georges Chakra, this time from his Spring 2010 ready to wear Edition collection.

The Lebanese designer dedicates his work to a modern, self-confident woman, making Katy a worthy fit for his designs.

This dress is another of Katy’s more ‘wacky’ choices. Having modified the hem to make a structured skirt, it resembles the carousel dress that the singer wore at last years EMA’s.

Ultimately wearing this dress whilst swinging on a decorated seat doesn’t really do much for the singer except confirm what we already knew; slightly bonkers.

First Cheryl Cole wore a David Koma dress on Saturday’s X Factor, now Beyonce Knowles has fallen in love with David Koma’s Fall 2009 collection.

The dress has been dubbed “the dustbin lid” dress and the “hub caps” dress, or as Marvel said it looks like a dress which was created from running into a clock shop naked.

Whatever you want to call it David Koma must be very pleased that in a space of a week 2 major stars have worn pieces from his collection.

Beyonce collected her “Best Female” Award at the lacklustre MTV EMAs last night, wearing an off-the-shoulder David Koma Fall 2009 dress with black peep-toe platforms.

I’m not surprised Beyonce wore the black wool dress with the signature tube detailing on the bodice and on the skirt, because she had to follow up with something amazing after her Gareth Pugh looks of last year.

I think she looked pretty darn fantastic in the dress, and I’m glad she support an up and coming designer.

Before I get to fashion, Rachel Adedeji made a total fool of herself on Saturday night as she morphed into Stacey Solomon. I was so embarrassed for her and annoyed she wasn’t in the bottom two.

Back to fashion.

It was week 3 and Cheryl Cole wore her 3rd Atelier Versace look in a row.

This time she opted for a stunning Grecian style asymmetrical Atelier Versace Spring 2009 gown with a thigh-high split, which we’ve seen before on the red carpet.

The gown was stunning, but I wasn’t happy with the hair.

I understand that her stylist was going for a goddess look, but the part that dangled loosely just bothered me all night, plus the silver headpiece was a bit much with her big hair.

Had she simply pulled her hair back and let the gown do all the talking, I would’ve loved this look.

Once again I struggled to find Dannii Minogue’s gown, but I just had to feature her because she was DROP-DEAD-GORGEOUS on Saturday night.

She wore a breath-taking antique silver embellished gown with exquisite Boucheron jewels and YSL heels whilst sporting old Hollywood marcel waves.

Definitely up for BDOTW.

On Sunday’s result show Cheryl wore a silver paillette Julien Macdonald Spring 2010 mini dress with nude panels and bold shoulders.

The silver paillette’s gave the dress a fish-scale type of look, which she paired with Rupert Sanderson Plato sling back peep-toes.

It was a bold choice for Cheryl, but it wasn’t my favourite look on her. It worked better on the runway.

I really hope she wears Look 32 as that was my favourite from Macdonald’s Spring 2010 collection.

Dannii blew me away again wearing a nude dress with a peplum on one hip, with a dripping effect of embellished details on her dress.

I have a feeling this one is by her favourite designer J’Aton Couture.

I hate pitting them against each other, but it was Dannii’s week.

Update: Dannii confirmed via Twitter that both of her looks are by J’Aton Couture.

Def Jam’s 25th anniversary celebration brought out an all-star lineup of artists who performed at the recent Vh1’s Hip Hop Honors.

Ashanti had an on-stage reunion with Ja Rule as they performed a medley of their hits “Down For You” and “Always On Time”.

She took to the stage wearing lace skin-tight pants, Givenchy Western platform sandals and a Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 blazer.

The camel and black ruched blazer has a ruffle collar which stood up on the runway.

Unlike some crazy artists who are shaving one-side of their heads, Ashanti wisely decided to braid hers.

My hairstylist told me that many girls go to her salon asking for a Cassie do, and each time she refuses to do it.

I would do exactly the same. It’s a ridiculous trend.

Nelly Furtado wore another studded beige look from Elie Saab’s Spring 2010 collection.

To perform her single “Mi Plan” she wore a chic fitted jacket encrusted in metallic sequins and coordinating draped mini skirt.

She paired her second look with the same peep-toe shoes from the red carpet and fishnet tights.

Nelly’s 3rd Elie Saab look of the night was a navy chiffon dress, with a pixelated printed strips.

The looked was slightly modified as Nelly’s dress has a draped neckline.  The dress was haltered on the runway.

Keeping the fishnet tights, Nelly this time wears platform strappy sandals.

This was my favourite Nelly/Elie look of the night despite her red carpet look being my favourite from the runway out of the 3 looks she wore.

Kelly Rowland hit her second bum notes of the night.

This time wearing a hideous Pam Hogg Fall 2009 gold, black and silver spandex jumpsuit.

I don’t know how anyone can look at themselves in the mirror wearing this monstrosity and say to themselves, “I rock in this look. It’s perfectly acceptable to be seen in public wearing this jumpsuit”.

No Rowland. Hell no.  Not even on stage. * shudders*

There are many things that fit together perfectly.

Georgina Chapman and Marchesea, Renee Zellweger and Carolina Herrera, Victoria Beckham and Victoria Beckham Collection, Charlize Theron and Dior and Kylie Minogue and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Kylie was in San Francisco last night for the opening night of her US Tour at the Fox Oakland Theatre.

The pint-sized pop princess has worn Jean Paul Gaultier for many of her tours and her current “For You For Me US Tour” is no exception.

Her looks include a sexy silver corset paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels, jeweled cuffs and a globe headpiece.

Here she wears a Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 couture sparkling mini dress, a leather vest and Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre thigh-high boots.

This stunning shimmering Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2009 Couture silver halter-neck gown has an ombre gold hem.

A sparkling black leotard is paired with two-tone tights.

A white Jean Paul Gaultier gown was paired with a Sergent’s hats, followed by a sexy Madonna-esqe coned Jean Paul Gaultier bustier paired with leather gloves, a spikey headpiece and thigh-thigh Louboutin.

Each look is more dramatic than the previous. She knows how to dazzle the crowd.

The rest of her tour dates are as follows:

1st October Fox Theater Oakland, (San Francisco Bay Area)
3rd October The Pearl Palms Resort & Casino, Las Vegas
4th October Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles
7th October The Congress Theater, Chicago
9th October Air Canada Centre, Toronto
11th October Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC, NY
12th October Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC, NY

Last week Cheryl Cole and her Girls Aloud band mates put on a spellbinding show at London’s Wembley Stadium supporting Coldplay.

I thought Girls Aloud supporting Coldplay was a bit strange as their music couldn’t be more different, but Chris Martin had been speaking of his admiration for Girls Aloud in an interview with Q magazine back in July.

The girls set list included their mega hits ‘Sound of the Underground’, ‘Biology’, ‘Love Machine’ and my favourite ‘Something Kinda Ooooh’.

The girls all looks beautiful wearing gorgeous pastel Preen dresses which had been modified from the runway.

Only Kimberly Walsh’s (second from the left) dress has stayed true to it’s original colour scheme, and was no doubt the inspiration for the rest of the modifications.

Do you prefer the modified dresses or the originals?
