Katy Perry In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Katy Perry In Giambattista Valli Couture - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

Katy Perry was on her best fashion behavior at last night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.

She wore a conservative (for her!) Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture silk draped gown.

Recently embarking on a blue-infused ‘The Smurfs 2’ promo circuit, the chameleon-like songstress changed her colours with this moss-green dress, which was a gorgeous hue with her jet-black locks.

I barely recognized the stripped-down version of this design from its runway predecessor, so covered it was in an embarrassment of flora and fauna.

She did keep one element of Katy-like quirk in the look in homage to the runway’s theatrical forest—the branch-inspired bronze belt. But it only whispered of the dress’s original garden state.

I could actually see the more free-spirited fashion side of Katy wearing the butterfly headpiece, but I’m glad she didn’t on this occasion.

Even her makeup, a classic winged eye and pink lip, was on the subdued side.

Michelle Dockery In Elie Saab – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Michelle Dockery In Elie Saab - 2013 White House Correspondents' Association

Michelle Dockery brought some British flair to the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night in Washington, D.C.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress showed us our highly anticipated second glance at Elie Saab’s Fall 2013 collection, after Jessica Biel debuted it at the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Ball.

This violet-purple peplum gown with sheer chiffon inlay is another example of a sequin- and bead-free moment from the bling-loving designer. Not that the look was completely shine-free, as metallic bangles and a clutch played nicely with the sculpted belt.

Michelle wore the dress well, although this is a look that’s made for walking, as I missed the magic of the gown’s runway movement.

A glam updo and a hot-fuchsia glossed pout finished the story, although with this ultra-violet colour, I would have liked to have seen a slightly more neutral lippie.

Natalie Dormer In Marios Schwab – 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner

Natalie Dormer In Marios Schwab - 2013 White House Correspondents' AssociationOur ‘Game of Thrones’ girl, Natalie Dormer, walked the red carpet with ‘Cosmopolitan’ editor-in-chief Joanna Coles at the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton last night in Washington, D.C.

The British actress wore a Marios Schwab Fall 2011 gown that featured pearl-studded, geometric embellishment at the bodice.

Since she removed the runway’s waist-cinching, harness-inspired belt, the most interesting part of this look actually came to me in the gorgeous emerald Elahn bauble on her finger.

She accessorized further with a black and silver Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch and a simple pair of earring studs.

A nude lippie and half-up, half-down hair completed the look, although on this occasion, I wish she had worn her hair all up for a more polished, edgy effect.

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – Tadashi Shoji Beijing Boutique Opening

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji - Tadashi Shoji Beijing Store Opening

Octavia Spencer looked radiant on the red carpet at the opening of the Tadashi Shoji Beiing boutique in China this evening.

It’s been an honour to watch the partnership (and no doubt friendship) blossom from the start of her 2012 awards season run to-date.

The designer has created some gorgeous gowns for the beautiful actress, but this custom black, neoprene, cap sleeve gown featuring a pale pink lace overlay detail at the waist and a leather belt is definitely in their hall-of-fame.

As you can see the gown is a custom variation from a look which took to the runway for Tadashi Shoji’s Fall 2013 collection. She styled with a half-up, half-down hairstyle and a black clutch.

At the launch the actress said, “I am so honoured to be in Beijing to celebrate this landmark in Tadashi’s prolific career. His designs are timeless, elegant and as unique as his personality. I am thrilled to call him a friend.”

Rita Ora In Chanel – The Little Black Jacket Exhibition: Dubai

Rita Ora In Chanel - The Little Black Jacket Exhibition Dubai

Chanel’s ‘The Little Black Jacket’ exhibition is currently residing in Dubai, where Rita Ora was the guest performer at the opening event yesterday evening.

The British singer wore a Chanel red top and matching skirt from the Spring 2013 collection which she styled with the very popular Chanel ‘Lego’ clutch, a silver bracelet from the Paris Edinburgh Pre-Fall 2013 collection, a Chanel watch and gold Louboutin pumps.

Lets address the elephant in the room; her hair.

It’s clearly a wig, or a weave, but the cut doesn’t flatter her face, plus the colour just goes to prove when it comes to colour she needs to rethink the blonde.
