Blake Lively In Atelier Versace – 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Blake Lively started 2017 like she ended 2016. On top form.

The Golden Globes isn’t an event to play it safe or fade into the background; of which my girl did neither.

I loved the old school glamour oozing from this Atelier Versace custom gown. It was grown-up, without being ageing. Sexy, without being revealing and unpredictable which is always a bonus when it pays off.

Some objected to the pockets, but I feel this gown was richer as a result. They added to the overall drama for me.

Tracee Ellis Ross In Polite, Zuhair Murad Couture & Paule Ka – BAFTA Tea Party & 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Tracee Ellis Ross attended the BAFTA Tea Party at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles on January 7, 2017 before having a grand night at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards on January 8 that had her winning Best Actress in a TV Comedy for ‘Black-ish.’

BAFTA Tea Party: The actress marched to the beat of her own drum in this Polite floral-print mock neck pleated dress. From the waist down, the look was fine enough. Unfortunately, the long-sleeved top half proved to be unflattering and cumbersome with too much fabric coverage.

2017 Golden Globe Awards: It’s our first Zuhair Murad sighting of the year, as Tracee worked the sheer trend in this strapless, corset Spring 2016 Couture gown from the designer known for embellished, sexy statements. Her fingers were nearly more clothed than she, as she stacked on all manners of rings to round out the look.

Golden Globe Awards Party: Wearing a loose-fitted Paule Ka dress for the Globes parties, my feeling once again is just too much fabric. The colour is great, the ball clutch is a cute touch, but I feel like this dress is overwhelming Tracee.

Mandy Moore In Lela Rose, Naeem Khan, Marc Jacobs & RED Valentino – 2017 AFI Awards, W Magazine’s It Girls Party, 2017 Golden Globe Awards, 2017 ELLE’s Annual Women In Television Celebration & NBCUniversal Winter Press Tour

Mandy Moore has served up a many amazing – and typically girlie – looks so far this year.

2017 AFI Awards: Mandy’s first look was fresh and feminine with a feel-good factor. Gingham has always been synonymous with spring, so I love how Lela Rose reworked and enlivened this classic tea-length dress with a cut-out and colour-blocking effect to add some modernity.

Evan Rachel Wood In Alberta Ferretti, Jonathan Simkhai & Alturazza – W Magazine Party, BAFTA Tea Party & Golden Globe Awards

I’ve always loved Evan Rachel Wood’s style which often see her marching to the beat of her own drum. Lately she opted for tailored looks for the W Magazine party, the BAFTA Tea Party and the Golden Globe Awards.

W Magazine Party: This Alberta Ferretti look adds serious polish to Evan Rachel Wood’s already impressive suiting portfolio. Detailed with a geometric print and cut to a sharp silhouette, I love how she makes an added statement with the coordinating rouge lip and pumps.

BAFTA Tea Party: I love how this Jonathan Simkhai jumpsuit redefines the notion of ‘classic’, while presenting a contemporary sense of femininity. The draping and contrasting white detailing for added drama perfect this look for me. Jimmy Choo ‘Max’ sandals and a ‘Celeste’ clutch provided the finishing touches.

2017 Golden Globe Awards: When I saw this ultra sharp Alturazza three-piece tux on Evan, my first thought was Tilda Swinton would give this look an standing O; as did I. Not many could make such a strong statement while possessing an air of playful charm. I’m not sure she quite got the credit she was due for this look.

Sophie Turner In Louis Vuitton – BAFTA Tea Party, Golden Globe Awards & BAFTA Nominations

Sophie Turner joined the other stars at the BAFTA Tea Party on January 7, 2017 and the 2017 Golden Globe Awards the following evening before heading to the BAFTA nomination announcements on January 10 in London, England.

BAFTA Tea Party: The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress brought her own version of fashion armor in a Louis Vuitton ensemble highlighted by gold-embellished cropped pants and a bold-shoulder shirt topped off by a gold choker neckline. Paired with stylized booties, this was a striking look that few could pull off with the power and grace that Sophie did.

Golden Globe Awards: Sophie again used her statuesque height to her advantage with another Louis Vuitton look that was just as statement-making as her prior BAFTA Tea Party one. This asymmetric draped, sheer cutout gown, sprinkled with crystals, may not find favour among some who may fault its modernized version of ’80s excess and exposed shoulder pad, but she wore it well regardless.

BAFTA Nominations: From maximal to minimal, she switched fashion lanes to a simplified but incredibly chic Victoria Beckham forest green pant suit with a streamlined ponytail to match the straightforward style vibe.

Viola Davis In Christian Siriano & Michael Kors – Hollywood Walk of Fame & Golden Globe Awards

Viola Davis kicked off the New Year on the right foot, receiving her own star to add to the constellation that is the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 5, 2017 in Hollywood, California.

Then the starry honours only continued for Viola at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards on January 8 at The Beverly Hilton with her Best Supporting Actress win.

Hollywood Walk of Fame: Her smile was even more radiant than her bright-white Christian Siriano dress with embellished sleeves and collar, which provided a blank canvas for her to pose with her star.

Golden Globe Awards: Vibrant hues and a one-shoulder silhouette are a winning combination for the ‘Fences’ actress, so it was only natural that she struck fashion gold in this bold, canary-yellow Michael Kors sequin gown to accept her Golden Globe award.

Thandie Newton In Monse – BAFTA Tea Party & Golden Globe Awards

Thandie Newton also attended both the BAFTA Tea Party and the Golden Globe Awards in California on January 7 and January 8, respectively, where she debuted two looks from up-and-coming New York designer, Monse.

BAFTA Tea Party: I have to say it took me a little while to take in just where this polka-dot dress started and ended with its asymmetrical necklines, slits, and ties. The verdict? I like bits and pieces of it from various angles, but with the simple accessories I think she made it work.

Golden Globe Awards: The actress is quoted to have said that her Monse gown reminded her of a lit cigarette. There’s no doubt the white off-the-shoulder dress is on fire with the copper sequined flames crawling up the hem, which she accessorized with a diamond reverse necklace
