Giorgio Armani Fall 2012 Press Preview

Recently I attended the Giorgio Armani Fall 2012 press preview.

Armani are known for their subdued colour palette, but I was welcomed by bright pops of orange, pink and lavender.

The beauty, as always, is in the detail.

Hand-embroidered red-carpet-worthy dresses hung from the racks alongside bow-accented colour-block dresses, sleek black dresses and an orange fur coat.

Below are close ups of the accessories, which we don’t get to see so clearly on the runway.

I fell in love with the embroidered clutches, the beaded necklaces and the colourful totes.

Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012 Press Preview

During Paris Fashion Week I visited the London Show Rooms to see the Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012 collection up close.

There were plenty of oohs and ahhs as the models showcased the gorgeous lighter-than-air chiffon dresses.

What was fascinating for me was seeing the amazing difference between the runway dresses and the commercial pieces.

The pencil dress, which I’m mildly obsessed with, was presented alongside a print version and ‘pencil’ skirt which will both go into production.

Mary agreed that the runway version needs a red-carpet moment.

The couture-like detailing which embellished each piece was breathtaking. I couldn’t even imagine how long it would take to create just one look.Read More…

Jimmy Choo Fall 2012

During Milan Fashion Week I previewed the Jimmy Choo Fall 2012 collection.

Jimi Hendrix and Kate Moss’ imaginary love-child served as inspiration for this collection, so cue painted python, tassel accents, studded leather and patchwork pieces.

A motif of Jimi actually appears on two of the acrylic clutches.

Celebrities can choose from the gorgeous bejewelled clutches and, hopefully, colourful pumps.

I can see the Jimmy Choo ‘Tame’ pump being a huge hit with celebs. The ankle-strap suede heel, which comes in blue and pink, has a diamante-encrusted heel, sole and toe-cap which will dazzle on the red carpet.Read More…

MiH Jeans Fall 2012 Preview

Since I was first introduced to MiH Jeans by Emily of Fashion Foie Gras, I haven’t looked back.

Having two pairs, my favourite are the MiH Marrakesh ‘Kick Flare’ Jeans which I wear pretty much everywhere. They are comfortable, they make my legs look even longer than they already are, the medium wash means they work with just about everything and the fact that they are a British brand with a strong, authentic denim heritage helps deepen the love too.

It appears that I’m not alone in my obsession. Everyone from Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Holmes, Jessica Alba, January Jones, Ali Larter and most recently Jennifer Lawrence have all fallen in love with MiH jeans.

At the press day in London this week, Founder and Creative Director Chloe Lonsdale shared that she was very excited to see girl-of-the-moment Jennifer Lawrence wearing her jeans, as she has the perfect figure to showcase jeans with her gorgeous curves.

For Fall 2012 we can look forward to more styles of jeans, in a variety of washes, cuts and colours ranging from coffee to forest green.

MiH is built on denim, but they also have a strong ready-to-wear collection featuring stripe tees, denim shirts, printed blouses, sweaters, blazers, Mongolian fur gilets, ponchos, leather jackets with denim sleeves with the hero piece being the silver biker jacket.

MiH jeans are available to purchase from Net-A-Porter.com, my-wardrobe.com, Matches Fashion, Shopbop.com, farfetch.com and their own ecommerce store mih-jeans.com

My-Wardrobe.com Fall 2012 Press Preview

This week I attended the my-wardrobe.com Fall 2012 press day.

Following my Dubai adventure it was great to see the team again and see what new brands they will be adding to the site around July.

I was super excited to learn that 10 Crosby by Derek Lam will be added to their site. This is a brand that Diane Kruger first brought to the red carpet. The collection has a mix of easy separates and dresses that can take you from the office to a night out with friends.

With D&G no longer, my-wardrobe.com had a gap on their virtual shelves just begging to be filled by another Italian designer who designs bold, bright, sexy pieces with an edge and the occasional animal print; that void was filled by Just Cavalli, of course.

Other new designers to look forward to are Raoul (a favourite of Oscar nominee Viola Davis), Versus, Faith Connexion, Burberry Brit footwear MSGM (a favourite of many style bloggers), Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Victoria Beckham Denim, Francis Leon, who make amazing leather jackets, and Math, who I hadn’t heard of before, but I love their colour-block dress which also features different textures such as leather and tweed.

One of my favourite pieces from the Fall 2012 collection were the Ugg ear muff, which double up as ear phones. Genius.

I fell in love with a bag collection by Aila. These colourful neon bags and clutches with gold studded details will add a delightful pop of colour to any outfit.Read More…

McQ Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 Press Preview

Yesterday I attended the McQ Alexander McQueen press preview in London.

Much like the mainline collection, the press preview consisted of both runway and commercial pieces.

Before the Fall 2012 presentation the McQ customer would not have shopped at Alexander McQueen and vice versa, so the aim of this current McQ collection is to bring McQ and Alexander McQueen closer together.

McQ will be the daywear to Alexander McQueen’s special-occasion pieces.

On display were the adorable colourful tutu dresses which are even more impressive up close with velvet, tulle and silk accented floral details.

I also love the moss-green dresses, skirts and coats with the textured embroidered details.

Cable-knit dresses, python bags, over-the-knee lace-up boots, leather opera gloves, leather jackets, skull-mofit sweaters, bird-print dresses and shorts plus military coats were on display.

Some of the commercial pieces were so close to the runway looks that the only way I could spot the difference was by touching the pieces, as slightly lighter fabrics are used for the commercial looks.

One of the first things I always ask PRs is who’s been requesting and who are they reaching out to. I don’t want to jinx anything so I won’t spill, but one person from my wish list has requested. Yay.

Those of you dying to get your hands on McQ will be delighted to know that a new stand-alone store will be opening on Dover Street sometime in July, with 4 storeys and 273 square metres of retail space offering womenswear, menswear and accessories.

For those who don’t live in London, you will be able to purchase the McQ Fall 2012 collection when it goes online at AlexanderMcQueen.com.
