Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A couple of premieres have brought the men to the red carpet yesterday.

Donald Glover: For FX’s premiere of ‘Atlanta Robbin’ Season’ on Monday (February 19), the actor impressed in a Salvatore Ferragamo Spring 2018 ensemble that was a handsome alternative to the standard suit. I especially love the buttery, dark-mustard leather jacket here, as it looks so richly suave on Donald.

Joel Edgerton: Joining Jennifer Lawrence, Tallia Storm and Joely Richardson at the ‘Red Sparrow’ London premiere on Monday (February 19), Joel held his own in a Brunello Cucinelli pinstripe suit. However, I did question the length of the pants with his heavy-handed, lace-up shoes, as they seemed such a departure from the more classic, sophisticated tones of the suit.

Lakeith Stanfield: In contrast to Donald’s preppy-sleek look, Lakeith went for a tough-punk vibe at the ‘Atlanta Robbin’ Season’ premiere. The heavy-duty, studded Julien Macdonald Spring 2017 vest was the star attraction, but I have to think that the mask seen around his neck was paying even more direct homage to the crime-filled premise of the show.

Joely Richardson In Temperley London – ‘Red Sparrow’ London Premiere

Joely Richardson struck a pose at the ‘Red Sparrow’ London premiere on Monday (February 19), joining Tallia Storm and Jennifer Lawrence.

The English actress played into the red theme with a Temperley London Resort 2018 dress.

The style gave floral prints an unconventional treatment as it was flecked with red and gold flowers inspired by antique scientific drawings.

The look was previously worn by Bellamy Young, but the former ‘Nip/Tuck’ actress made it her own by contrasting the feminine overtones of the style with a sculptural Roksanda ‘Eartha’ bag.

Tallia Storm In Gucci – ‘Red Sparrow’ London Premiere

After Jennifer Lawrence‘s magnetic look at the ‘Red Sparrow’ London premiere on Monday (February 19), I was intrigued to see what other celebrities would bring to the table. Tallia Storm certainly turned heads.

Whereas Jennifer went for smoldering bohemian allure, the Scottish singer embraced the eclectic styling of Gucci in a Resort 2018 ensemble.

She is not one to shy away from a bold look, but I was pleased that she didn’t overcook the striking separates with accessories. Silver sandals allowed the dynamic mix of patterns to come forward.

Sometimes her looks can veer into costume territory, but she pulled off the joyful pieces by keeping the finish polished.

Valeria Golino In Prada – ‘Daughter of Mine’ Berlinale International Premiere

Valeria Golino was a beauty in blue at the ‘Daughter of Mine’ Berlinale International premiere on Sunday (February 18) in Berlin, Germany where she joined Alba Rohrwacher.

The Italian actress and director’s Prada gown had a parred-back elegance which projected a regal air.

Many of the Prada dresses on the red carpet of late have had a girlish femininity with details aplenty, but the refined elegance of this gown allows her natural beauty to shine.

The deep blue hue enhances her eyes while the gold accents play up her hair and complexion.

The low V-neckline adds a sensual undercurrent while creating a flattering lengthening effect.

Jennifer Lawrence In Christian Dior Couture – ‘Red Sparrow’ London Premiere

Jennifer Lawrence was back on the red carpet following the BAFTAs, for the London premiere of ‘Red Sparrow’ at Vue West End this evening (February 19).

I was enchanted by her previous Dior Spring 2018 Couture look, but this one blew me away.

Her organza Couture ball gown embroidered with pale gold sequins might just be my favourite look from Jennifer since her ‘The Hunger Games’ LA premiere Prabal Gurung gown.

I adore the mix of colours, the vibrancy and the carefree boho feel amped up by the curls. She very much looked like she was in her element here.

Rose gold Sara Weinstock Isadora hexagon drop earrings completed her look.

Alba Rohrwacher In Valentino, Prada & Valentino Couture – Berlinale International Film Festival

Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher is currently in Germany, where she is promoting ‘Daughter of Mine’ (Figlia Mia) and ‘3 Days in Quiberon’ during the Berlinale International Film Festival.

‘Daughter of Mine’ Photocall:  Cut to a boyfriend fit, this Pre-Fall 2018 look takes her tailored style to the next level, oozing simple elegance. Valentino has always been one of her go-to brands, and the union continues to be a fruitful one.

‘Daughter of Mine’ Premiere: You maybe surprise to learn that this custom leather blue gown is by Prada, as their recent red carpet gowns tend to veer on the uber girlie side with embellishments and feather appliqués. I love how this feels daring for Alba. The long silhouette enhances her statuesque frame, while the cut and open back keeps the look razor-sharp and modern. Delfina Delettrez jewels completed the look.

‘3 Days in Quiberon’ Premiere: Returning to her first love: Valentino, the actress opted to borrow from the boys again, this time opting for a look from the Spring 2018 Couture collection. While the look was perfectly suited to her minimalist style, I was longing for a bit more in the makeup department on this occasion.

Rosamund Pike In Givenchy & Givenchy Couture – ‘7 Days in Entebbe’ Berlinale International Film Festival Photocall & Premiere

Sporting a fresh new hairdo’, Rosamund Pike made her first red carpet appearance of 2018 for the photocall and premiere of ‘7 Days in Entebbe’ (7 Tage in Entebbe) during the Berlinale International Film Festival this evening (February 19) in Germany.

Photocall: I love how the square-shaped shoulder pads bring ’80s confidence to this effortlessly glamorous Givenchy Spring 2018 number. With so little detail, the brooch detail prevents the dress from sliding into, “just another LBD” territory.
