Derek Lam Spring 2011

Derek Lam’s Spring 2011 started off with smart denims followed by clean crisp spring looks.

I thought about Celine whilst watching this presentation, because this collection had that same minimal, ultra refined elegance.

I found myself being quite blown away by this presentation.

We were presented with A-line suede skirts, poplin blouses, cashmere sweaters, ponchos, pleated skirt, chic dresses and fabulous outerwear, including a canvas trench with a swingy ruffled drape in the back.

The show ended with cool breezy maxi print dresses. It was like you could feel the sea breeze gently swirling around the tents.

Models sported voluminous 60s hair. Their make-up was clean and simple with a flash of bright red liner added to the upper eye lids.

Favourites: Printed halter maxi dress, the black sateen top paired with the embellished skirt and the khaki trench dress

Front Row: Leighton Meester, Deborah Cox and Rashida Jones

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Leighton Meeter, Rashida Jones, Thandie Newton, Robin Wright Penn, Maria Sharapova and Sarah Jessica Parker

Z Spoke by Zac Posen Spring 2011

There was so much energy at the Z Spoke by Zac Posen Spring 2011 presentation yesterday.

It’s what we all needed at 7pm after a full day of shows.

The models were having so much fun on the runway, smiling dancing and twirling. One model fell after her twirl but got up smiling pumping her fist as she received a big cheer from the crowd.

Zac Posen created a fabulous fun, young and sexy collection with peek-a-boo cut-outs and plunging necklines.

It wasn’t all sexy. There were many wearable pieces from spring coats, knits, suits, tunics and T-shirts which were layered with other pieces.

Ruffles tend to be really girlie, but Zac made them more punk by teaming the ruffles with a lacey bra.

Key accessories included sunglasses which were colourful or had a sparkling frame.

The platform heels were created in collaboration with Steven Madden.

I loved the models make-up. The slashes of bright eye shadow really added to the punk vibe.

Favourites: The face print top and tapered pants above and the keyhole detail dress with fringed detailing

Front row: Claire Danes, Carmen Electra, Estelle, Shenae Grimes, Kristin Cavallari, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kimora Lee Simmons, Russell Simmons and Jamie King

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Shenae Grimes, Ashley Tisdale, Kristin Cavallari, Miranda Cosgrove, Zooey Deschanel, Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe, Kristen Bell, Pixie Lott, Ginnifer Goodwin, Chloe Sevigny, Jamie Chung, Kate Mara, Keke Palmer,

Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Spring 2011

The first thing I noticed when I arrived at the Philosophy Spring 2011 presentation was the brightly coloured carpet.

For some reason I didn’t think it would be connected to the presentation, but it was.

The Asian inspired collection was very beautiful with bolds colours which was in total contrast to the Fall 2010 presentation I attended last season.

We were presented with a fusion of Eastern and Western fashion with jackets, playsuits, cheongsam dresses, Qipao dress, micro shorts, bra tops and tunics.

The dragon prints, floral and psychedelic prints would be great for spring. jewel tone fabrics adorned with floral and graphic designs.

The stand out piece amongst all the looks was a trench coat because it seems out of place with the rest of the collection.

Key accessories included conical hats and brocade bags.

Favourites: The first look above with vibrant yellow print and blue shorts with the paper bag waist paired with a jacket emblazoned with a red dragon print

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Miranda Cosgrove, Abigail Breslin, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Cheryl Cole

Prabal Gurung Spring 2011

When look one took the runway at Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2011 collection I cooed with delight.

As I looked over at Rachel Zoe, she was doing the same thing. I could tell we were in for a treat.

The colour palette was so refreshing from the beiges and nudes I’ve seen this season.

I loved the colour blocking with bold striking yellows, oranges and blues.

This collection was very feminine for a strong woman in control. This woman wants to show off her sexy side in these figure hugging looks which accentuate all that beautiful about the female form.

Models walked the runway in Prabal Gurung for Nicholas Kirkwood super sexy heels.

Favourites: The black dress with Swarovski details on the shoulder and the sky blue draped blouse with the saffron pencil skirt

Front Row: Elettra Wiederman, Poppy Delevingne and Barbara Bush

Who I See Wearing This Collection: Olivia Palermo, Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Leighton Meester, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Scherzinger, Natalia Vodianova, Marion Cotillard, Kate Waterhouse, Jennifer Aniston

Cynthia Rowley Spring 2011

Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2011 collection was all about circles.

Swiss-cheese-like perforation were artfully placed on dresses, skirts, pockets, pants and tops. It was like the designer had taken a giant hole punch to the pieces.

Those pieces that weren’t perforated were decorated with pyramids of cabochons.

Apart from the circles Rowley also gave us sheer stripes and colour blocking.

The collection had a 70?s mod feel to it, with boxy shift dresses and slim fitting pants.

The colour palette was mostly neutral with loud pops of pink, mustard and coral which seem to be the colours of the season.

Key accessories included patterned ankle strap heels which were worn over sheer socks. Large statement necklaces and bags ranging from lady-like to slouchy clutches.

Favourites: The mustard perforated skirt and the grey cabochon top paired with the perforated tiered skirt

Front Row: Rebecca Romijn, Nigel Barker, Katie Lee and Lauren Bush

Maria Sharapova, Parker Posey, Rebecca Romijn, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Rutherford
