Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a quick look at the dapper gents attending New York and Toronto Film Festival premieres this week.

Douglas Booth: The handsome continues to prove why we often hand him a best dressed title each time he steps out on the red carpet. With navy being the colour of the moment in menswear, the actor sets his own pace opting for a green Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit styled with an Armani timepiece to the ‘Riot Club’ Toronto Film Festival premiere.

Rob Pattinson: The British actor was also staying true to his favourite brand: Gucci. I do love it when guys do something a bit different. Here Rob styles his navy notch-lapel two-button Marseille suit with a navy evening shirt and brown leather lace-ups while attending the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of ‘Maps Of The Stars’ on Tuesday (September 9). The colours couldn’t be more perfect as we slowly move towards autumn and the suit, as always, was a perfect fit. The usual dishevelment gave way to sleeker grooming, so this gets a thumbs up all round from me.

With Canada’s 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and New York City’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 in full swing, the men were out in force for a host of appearances over the past few days.

Andrew Garfield
: The actor attended the TIFF ’99 Homes’ premiere in a Burberry Tailoring three-piece charcoal suit with a traditional dark tie and dove-grey button-down. The suit was immaculate; the scruff was mountain man.

David Beckham: The soccer stud always cuts an impressive profile, and such was the case while he was out in New York City following wife Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Week show. He wore a black Dior Homme wool slim-shawl-collar tuxedo and white cotton shirt. The tux had nothing on him, as he looked every bit the cool customer with the relaxed fit and tie-less styling.

Eddie Redmayne In Alexander McQueen & Burberry – HFPA & InStyle’s 2014 TIFF Celebration & ‘Theory of Everything’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Eddie Redmayne In Alexander McQueen & Burberry - HFPA & InStyle's 2014 TIFF Celebration & 'Theory of Everything' Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Eddie Redmayne attended the HFPA & InStyle’s 2014 TIFF Celebration on September 6 and the premiere of the film ‘The Theory of Everything’ on September 7 at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

Party: An Alexander McQueen black and cream Prince of Wales check suit worn with a navy tie is a handsome, classic look, and the addition of the grey suede tassel slippers offers the perfect dash of fashion-forward whimsy.

Premiere: A teal, double-breasted Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 suit with a navy tie and pocket square is a sharp color combination, and classic patent shoes complete the modern look. I love how much fun Eddie has with fashion–he knows fashion isn’t only a woman’s game.

A group of guys grabbed some stares recently with their sartorial statements at a variety of events. Here, a look at the handsome offerings over the past few days—I couldn’t be more elated to not see a basic black suit in sight.

Channing Tatum: Looking hot and polished, the actor was at the HFPA & InStyle’s 2014 TIFF celebration during the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival at the Windsor Arms Hotel. He definitely made that dark, midnight-blue three-piece suit look good.

Josh Lucas: Cutting a sharp profile at the ‘Boychoir’ premiere during the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival at Roy Thomson Hall, Josh suited up in a Salvatore Ferragamo dark navy, two-button peak lapel suit, paired with a white button-down shirt, a navy patterned pocket square and brown calf shoes. Here, his decision to go tie-less worked in his favour—as did this stunning blue hue.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards Menswear Roundup

GQ Men1

Even though the girls grabbed plenty of stares at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted in association with Hugo Boss at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 2), the evening was about the guys, after all. Many in the handsome bunch were naturally dressed to impress.

Douglas Booth: Rather appropriately attired in a bespoke BOSS Made to Measure suit to accept his Hugo Boss Most Stylish Man award, the actor didn’t leave anyone guessing as to his sartorial cred. He was as charming as ever in this navy-blue number. The perfect bow tie was my favourite part—the icing on the cake.

Dan Stevens: The British actor and one of the evening’s presenters wore a Dior Homme Prussian blue slim, shawl-collar tuxedo with a white cotton wing-tip tuxedo shirt and black patent leather derbies. The colour of the suit was obviously selected to bring out his intense baby-blue gaze, which helped detract from the fact that the black satin bow tie was rather oversized.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The Actor of the Year winner took a monochromatic approach in an all-black three-piece Spencer Hart suit and tie. He could have done better for his big night.

2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

2014 Emmy Awards Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

While the constellation of actresses on the scene at the 2014 Emmy Awards had all of us focused on the range of red-carpet gowns and glam, there was plenty more eye candy to be had with the men in the mix at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday night (August 25).

Matthew McConaughey: Not one to ever be a shrinking violet, the ‘True Detective’ actor and nominee suited up in a bold blue Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit with contrasting black lapels, paired with Christian Louboutin ‘New Orleans’ flats, and a Bulgari watch and cufflinks. Was it my favourite look of his? Perhaps not. It even drew ‘A Night at the Roxbury’ comparisons among the Twitter-verse. But, with that handsome gaze, he can pull off anything.

Aaron Paul: The ‘Breaking Bad’ Emmy winner couldn’t have accepted his trophy in more classic fashion. He wore top-to-toe Prada in a black kid-mohair tuxedo, with a two-button notch-lapel design and velvet trim on the collar. A white smoking silk shirt, black bowtie and black spazzolato lace-up shoes, plus a Bulgari timepiece, completed the look.

Ty Burrell: Channeling his own blue mood, the ‘Modern Family’ Emmy winner wore a custom Todd Snyder tuxedo that was made especially for his big night. The Italian wool design was a collaborative effort between Ty, his stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, and the designer and boasts a unique shade of blue called ‘dusk,’ which nicely updates the tux from the more standard colourways of black and navy.
