Front Row @ Mulberry Spring 2014

Mulberry-clad, front-row mavens all gathered on Sunday to see the label’s Spring 2014 collection at Claridges Hotel during London Fashion Week in England.

Alexa Chung: The DJ donned a conservative Mulberry dropped-waist, white button-down dress, accessorized with a black sweater of her shoulders, along with ‘Lizzie’ black wedges and an olive ‘Alexa’ bag, all from the Spring 2014 collection.

Brit Marling: A sporty-chic Brit posed in a black biker jacket, dotty blouse and the ‘Lizzie’ pencil skirt, matched with the same ‘Lizzie’ black shoes worn by Alexa, which all hailed from Spring 2014. The polished white ‘Suffolk’ handbag, also from Spring 2014, as well as long blonde waves, finished the look with an air of sophistication.

Lea Seydoux: The French actress was also decked in the Spring 2014 collection, with her black ‘Betsey’ coat, the ‘School’ ballet-pink printed shirt and ‘Lizzie’ ballet-pink skirt, paired with pumps and the oversized ‘Clemmie’ clutch in a matching blush-nude shade. Nearly nude makeup and a simple centre-parted bob completed the look.

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013

Christopher Bailey presented his Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 collection to a packed house at Kensington Gardens in London yesterday. As always, it was the hottest ticket for London Fashion Week.

Inspired by Burberry classics and Christine Keeler, the theme ‘Trench Kisses’ quickly made sense as models took to the runway wearing updated trench coats, some with sheer latex, and sweetheart prints.

It wasn’t all sweetness and light; there was an edgier side to the ‘Trench Kisses’ collection, with models wearing latex skirts with revealing panties, military-style coats, fringed leather skirts accented with grommets – which featured several times in this collection – python trench coats and plenty of animal-print pieces, which I’m sure we will see on the likes of Kate Moss.

After a selection of striped pieces, the collection moved on to eveningwear, something that Burberry doesn’t always present on the runway. We usually only get a glimpse of the brand’s eveningwear at major events, like the Met Gala or the BAFTAs.

Speaking of the BAFTAs, a white, shorter version of Anne Hathaway’s gown featured in this collection, alongside two black halter dresses with gold accents at the neckline. I hope to see full-length versions of both these dresses on the red carpet soon.

Key accessories included the ‘Crush’ bag, Kitten wedges, animal print sunglasses and gold band belts.

The show marked Burberry’s debut of Runway Made to Order, a service that offers custom-made outerwear and bags from the collection featuring personalised engraved nameplates. Runway coats and bags are now available for two weeks on Burberry.com, for delivery in just nine weeks.

Considering there were so many ladylike pieces on display, I was surprised that Christopher Kane sought Frankenstein as inspiration for his Spring 2013 collection.

Pretty pink, yellow, white dresses, cardigans, skirt suits and jackets took to the v-shaped mirrored runway on Monday afternoon.

The twist was several of these pieces were accented with plastic nuts and bolts or electrical tape for a typically surprising twist which will delight the likes of Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark, but for Christopher’s newest fan, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, there were über feminine pretty bow accents.

For those seeking something a lot tougher, Kane sent out models in floral-embossed biker jackets and for the daring the sheer dresses are sure to tantalise.

While there were no gowns, there were plenty of red carpet options. I see the fringed dress making an appearance on the red carpet along with several other pieces including the embellished finale pieces.

Models hair was slicked back into a high ponytail sporty a pale face with dark lower lid eye makeup.
