Celebrities_Love_White_Pumps

The white elephant in the room that’s stomping around all the red carpets of late? White pumps.

Like it or not, these alabaster soles are a shoe-in for celebrities who are seeking a chic, clean finish to their seasonal exits.

The heels weren’t always so white-haute, though. In the UK, the pasty pumps used to conjure images of ‘80s gaudiness, or even Essex-girl connotations of poor taste, which is why I had such a hard time getting behind them—until recently.

With the chic set strutting them out at every turn, it’s not hard to acquire a taste for this trend that’s taking over wardrobes everywhere.

The shoes show off their highly versatile flair—from funny-girl Mindy Kaling getting style-serious at Guy Oseary’s July 4th party with her white pair, to singer Jordin Sparks pumping up her colourful 2013 BET Awards ensemble with a boost of bleach-white.

Even the conspicuously provocative Miley Cyrus tempered her sexy-sophisticated Emilio Pucci-outfitted trip to New York City’s SiriusXM Studios with her snow-white Celine pumps which she opted to wear again twice this week.

And showing us yet another way to wear the white-out pumps, Krysten Ritter brought a bright edge to her grey Christian Dior tuxedo dress with Jimmy Choo ‘Lilt’ heels at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival.

White-hot or white-not?

Celebrities Love Giuseppe Zanotti 'Alien' Sandals

Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti always produces sexy shoes; however, one style has become a favourite for celebs who love statement-making, vertiginous heels.

The Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Alien’ suede sandals were first presented for Fall 2012 and instantly became a red carpet hit.

Stars like Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Brittany Snow, Naomie Harris, Kim Kardashian, NeNe Leakes, and many more have made the black suede sandals with a serpent-like gold-metal appliqué and back zipper so popular that they have been reissued for Fall 2013.

Celebrities Love Miss Wu

Jason Wu’s diffusion line Miss Wu may be only in its second season, but it’s already a hit with celebrities on the red carpet.

Krysten Ritter, Kerry Washington, Jessica Alba, Katie Chang and AnnaSophia Robb have all worn the wallet-friendly pieces, which are casual and playful with graphic prints and quirky, flirty touches with a strong nod to 60s cool.

The collection may have been aimed at a much younger audience, but as you can see from above, it has a wide appeal.

You can now buy the Fall 2013 collection exclusively from Nordstrom.com.

Celebrities Love Printed Maxi Skirts copy

Forget the ‘X’ factor, and make way for the ‘maxi’ factor.

A trend that will never fall short, the printed maxi skirt has breezed back with a vengeance. Boldly patterned versions of the floor-grazing looks are sweeping through the chic set, going to great lengths to prove that minis aren’t the only must for summer.

Model Miranda Kerr recently floored us in an Isabel Marant sidewalk-scraping silhouette, as she floated through New York City with her son, Flynn. Who would have thought sheer, leopard-print could be so cool.

With a more boho bent, Katie Holmes dressed down in a multi-coloured Tsumori Chisato pleated skirt, splashed with an artsy, illustrated print and a zig-zag panel at the waistband. A loose white tee, Coach sunglasses and red Chloé ‘Lauren’ scalloped-edge, ballet flats completed her casual outing.

Singer-starlet Selena Gomez took her look to the max with a hippie-luxe Free People ‘Maracana’ silk skirt with lace detail at the top, paired with a simple black tank. Free People’s distressed, brown ‘Spellbound’ ankle boots and the label’s round ‘Pladium’ metallic-tinted, tortoise sunnies brought some funky festival-inspired flair to her street style. Dolce & Gabbana’s white ‘Sicily’ tote was a sleek finish.

Also skirting the issue, Jessica Alba embraced the longer hemline and the fine print with her off-duty look. Awash in blue-green hues, tempered by a beige jumper, this effortless exit could easily have taken the actress-mom from the playground to a backyard party.

Celebrities Love Sophia Webster Shoes

Style-obsessed sole-searchers have found solace with punchy pairs of shoes by Sophia Webster, Nicholas Kirkwood’s protégé, who has us seeing spots with her festive take on footwear.

The trendsetting, young British designer has been churning out smile-inducing looks, such as her ‘Yayoi’ leather and patent dot sandals with metal bead-effect heels. They’re a graphic statement piece, just like visionary artist Yayoi Kusama’s spotted oeuvre, to which they pay tribute.

Last fall, young starlet Chloe Moretz first connected the dots with her black-and-white ‘Yayois,’ proving yet again she’s equal parts fun and fashion-forward—and a style-girl in the making.

Kourtney Kardashian flirted with the spunkier, candy-coloured variety of the sandals, wearing the bright pink, orange and yellow circle cutouts with a sherbet Saunder frock.

Our reigning princess of prints, Solange Knowles, showed that her love of pattern extends to her feet, as she looked spot-on in the monochromatic shoes just last week at Art Basel.

Meanwhile, on Monday, an overalls-clad Rihanna didn’t walk the dotted line. But she did debut her own namesake pair of Sophia Webster’s ‘Riri’ pastel and black leather sandals with a similarly beaded heel. Don’t let the sorbet shades fool you—just like the boundaries-pushing songstress, these edgy, geometric lace-up shoes are equal parts playful and provocative.

Are you ready to step into Sophia’s circle?
