Celebrities Love…The Vampire’s Wife

If you’re anything like a certain crush of stylish beauties, then you’ve likely also been bewitched by The Vampire’s Wife. The label from Susie Cave—her husband is Nick Cave AKA rock’s one-time Prince of Darkness—has captivated a seemingly endless number of celebrities with its telltale brand of feminine mystique.

Elisabeth Moss wore a more gothic variation of the brand in a shimmery, elegant green ruffle dress, while Sienna Miller played up her ruffles in a more girlish light. Meanwhile, Salma Hayek was seen celebrating Victorian florals in a modern, vintage-inspired gown.

But, it was The Vampire’s Wife pink lamé ‘Cate’ dress that has really but starlets under its spell. The dark and moody romanticism of its floral print has been seen in short and long variations on Sienna Miller, Ruth Negga, and January Jones who have each put their personalized spin on the design.

However, these girls aren’t the only ones showing off the distinct, broody allure of The Vampire’s Wife. Alexa Chung wore the brand in Paris, Dakota Johnson was on ‘The Today Show’ with her TVW look, and Birdy took to the red carpet in a velvet gown at the BFI Luminous Fundraising Gala.

The bohemian tinges of Florence Welch’s style likewise made her a glorious wearer of the brand in Ireland, while Maggie Gyllenhaal carried the TVW torch with a glittery look on Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live.’ At the ‘Baby Driver’ Kuala Lumpur premiere, Lily James was also dressed in the label.

With such a roster thus far, and the rush of fall’s seasonal flair in the air, we can only surmise that there will be plenty more vampy Vampire’s Wife moments to come.

Paris Fashion Week ‘All-Denim’ Trend

Denim—in its many forms—is an eternally classic trend. But, Paris Fashion Week saw a number of darlings take their blues to the next level with head-to-toe looks.

And, what can we say, they certainly have good jeans, with this trio of unique Canadian tuxedos serving as proof.

At the Irving Penn exhibition private viewing, Charlotte Le Bon put her Christian Dior Fall 2017 denim to work for her with a work-wear aesthetic that took on casual-chic proportions.

Speaking of proportions, Bianca Brandolini d’Adda maximized hers at the Valentino Spring 2018 show with her Valentino Resort 2018 two-tone denim outfit. Though it also capitalized on the baggy and distressed trends, the end result was a cool-girl look done right.

When Erika Boldrin hit the streets of Paris, all eyes were on her in this oversized Balenciaga asymmetrical denim jacket that was so artfully askance that it even drew attention away from her vibrant accessories including a Loewe ‘Puzzle’ bag. I love how she partially tucked in the jacket to heighten the effect.

Selena Gomez Loves…Rouje

There is something about the insouciant cool of French style that captivates us—celebrities included. That’s why French label Rouje has quickly gained a popular following despite it only launching in 2016.

One fan is Selena Gomez who has happily embraced the line by French It-girl Jeanne Damas. The label reinterprets iconic Parisian basics like floral dresses, camisoles and miniskirts into effortless clothes that slot easily into a modern wardrobe. In Selena’s case, it is Rouje’s dresses that have enchanted her.

First up, the singer donned an inky Rouje ‘Gabin’ dress. The navy dress was speckled with dainty dots and a white button closure on the side. Oval sunglasses enhanced the vintage feel of the frock while box-fresh white sneakers added a thoroughly modern twist.

Keeping the white shoes, Selena stepped out in a Rouje ‘Matis’ dress. The above-the-knee style had plenty of feminine charm thanks to the white and pale blue print, buttons, and gathered seams along the bust line. She once again made it her own with a mix of hoop earrings, aviator sunglasses and a structured off-white handbag.

Lastly, Selena returned to the Rouje ‘Gabin’ dress, but this time in Bordeaux red. She elevated it for evening with rose gold sandals. In keeping with the effortless feel of the brand, she didn’t over-accessorise, choosing instead to let the silhouette of the dress shine.

Celebrities Love…Vinyl Trousers

Vinyl has been having a revival of sorts—and not just of the record type.

Trousers of the vinyl variety have been popping up during Fashion Weeks—from New York to London and Paris—capturing the affection of trendy celebrities as they transition their wardrobes into fall.

The glossy PVC pants bring a whole new layer of edginess mixed with stylish rebellion, providing an updated twist on the traditional leather trouser. And, they are way more than a one-trick-pony, as this recent trio of stars proves just how sartorially versatile they can be.

If you immediately associate vinyl with the colour black, Sara Sampaio’s look during London Fashion Week will quickly change your perception of PVC. I love the intense teal hue of her cropped pants. Styled with matching Chloe Gosselin sandals along with a cropped shirt and a Chanel bag, it was a timelessly modern look that radiated with cool-girl appeal.

Larsen Thompson continues to impress with her directional looks, and this street-style 3.1 Phillip Lim head-to-toe statement from New York Fashion Week was no different. The shiny, sky-blue pants with a mock paper bag waist showed that tight, spray-on vinyl isn’t the only way to wear the trend.

As for Kourtney Kardashian, she also hopped on the vinyl bandwagon with her look just yesterday (September 26) during Paris Fashion Week. Offering a tough-girl-chic variation, she paired slick, army-green Acne Tugi vinyl trousers with a T by Alexander Wang chunky asymmetrical sweater, an Alexander Wang ‘Attica Soft Mini Cross Body Bag, and Dr. Martens boots.

Celebrities Love…Dolce & Gabbana’s ‘Ortensia’ Collection

Bursting forth with blossoming hydrangeas, Dolce & Gabbana’s ‘Ortensia’ collection is what summer dreams are made of. And, celebrities are fully embracing the Italian design duo’s bouquet of ready to wear and accessories that instantly brighten the day—and any look.

Evoking a romantic English garden in Sicily, the lush floral print in green, pale blue, and lilac colours creates an endearingly charming perspective in every piece to embody a girly, sophisticated flair.

And, despite the strongly vibrant ‘Ortensia’ spirit, there is much versatility to be had in the collection.

Kendall Jenner, Charlotte Casiraghi, Blue Ivy and Beyonce Knowles, and Sofia Vergara have all been seen embracing their inner flower child while showing just how differently those hydrangeas can be interpreted.

From Kendall’s youthful edge, to Charlotte’s elegant styling, to the off-the-charts adorable quotient of mother-daughter dressing, not to mention Sofia’s flirty fun—the collection blooms brightly.

Take your next style cue from actress and style savant Elizabeth Olsen, who stunned on the Cannes red carpet in a pretty pink Miu Miu metallic dress. Rather than going for a floor-length gown, kick up the length in a saccharine pink mini dress fit for a night out. Keep the accessories to a minimum and add a pair of strappy sandals in a coordinating color so the emphasis is on the dress.

Supermodels, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid always know how to make an entrance, no matter the occasion. If a glittering strapless silver gown is right up your alley look no further than Bella Hadid as your style inspiration—just add a simple metallic clutch and heels for any occasion. For Kendall Jenner’s gleaming gunmetal dress, take the length up a few notches and opt for a sparkling mini-dress fully fitted with cutouts, ankle-wrap stilettos and dainty earrings for a girl’s night out.

Marion Cotillard is the reigning queen of style and never makes an appearance without being outfitted in the finest fashion. For her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the actress and style star wore a dazzling multicolored sequin gown—designed by newcomer Michael Halpern—that evoked high glamour and came fully equipped with a long train.
