Most Worn Brand 2013 – Dior

Most Worn Brand 2013 – Dior

This past year, the most ubiquitous brand on the backs of red carpet beauties was none other than Christian Dior. Few celebs could deny trotting out the ultra-famous French label, which has long enchanted with its elegance and, now, its edge, too—especially with designer Raf Simons injecting his experimental and slightly surrealist spin on the latest collections.

A style staple during awards season and a fixture at major to-dos—from the Cannes Film Festival to the Met Gala and countless movie premieres—Dior indeed dominated.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt having three ‘it’ girls as Lady Dior and Miss Dior ambassadors, with Marion Cotillard, Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lawrence unsurprisingly showing off the designer on a continual basis.

Throughout the year, Natalie paraded out a wardrobe full of Dior, especially during the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ promo circuit, remedying any fashion fatigue some may have felt towards her partnership with the brand.

French actress Marion also did Dior proud (well, at least during the first part of the year), as she put her personal touch of elegant panache on her designer exits.

And despite much debate, Jennifer still delivered on some positively memorable Dior moments. She nearly exclusively wore the label throughout the year and at ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ premiere tour.

Other Dior darlings include Cate Blanchett, Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Natalia Vodianova, Nicole Kidman and Zhang Ziyi, with even more starlets seated on the front row at the label’s couture and ready-to-wear shows.

Even the guys got in on the action, with handsome fellas including Idris Elba, Liam Hemsworth and Bruce Willis each wearing Dior Homme.

Most Consistent 2013 – Diane Kruger

Most Consistent 2013 – Diane Kruger

The reigning queen of consistency is none other than Diane Kruger—for the second year in a row. After impressing in 2012, the German actress and former model, who is a designer’s dream girl, has continued her unwaveringly reliable chic streak.

No matter the event or gala she’s gracing, she can be counted on to deliver dynamic looks that hardly ever miss the mark.

The unique thing about Diane is that she doesn’t really have a defining style—nor is she afraid to smartly push the boundaries in the most elegant way possible.

She can just as easily transition from the classic splendor of Chanel, Marchesa and Valentino to edgier, fashion-forward exits from labels including Cushnie et Ochs, Jonathan Saunders, Mary Katrantzou and Prabal Gurung.

When it comes to Diane, consistency takes on a bold attitude that is most certainly not boring.

Best Dressed Man of The Year 2013 – Eddie Redmayne

Best Dressed Man of The Year 2013 - Eddie Redmayne

Eddie Redmayne continued to steal plenty of hearts this year, as he once again dominated the polls and secured the style prize of Best Dressed Man for 2013, continuing his winning streak from 2012.

It’s not hard to understand why.

The British charmer has a look that’s equal parts boyish cutie and handsome hottie—which is only increased by a wardrobe that favours fashionably tailored, yet still trendy ensembles from designers such as Burberry, Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford, along with AllSaints.

He’s a shoo-in when it comes to trim tuxes and swoon-worthy, sharp suits—many in colourful shades. But he can just as easily saunter out casual, sometimes quirky looks that run the gamut from rugged to rock-star cool.

Not afraid to step outside the style box, he rarely misses a sartorial beat, striking a pose with those piercing baby blues, chiseled cheekbones, and a quiff that won’t quit. What’s not to adore?

Best Newcomer & Breakout Star 2013 – Lupita Nyong’o

Best Newcomer & Breakout Star 2013 - Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o came out of nowhere and took the red carpet by storm this year and her reign has only been 4 short months, yet she’s standing shoulder to shoulder alongside veterans like Diane Kruger and Cate Blanchett as, like them, she is very consistent, possesses great style and has an elegant grace about her that has made her so fascinating to watch.

From her very first look in Prada back in September during the Toronto Film Festival, which gave me goosebumps, I knew she was going to be something special; how special I could never have predicted, but you voting her your Best Newcomer of 2013 proves you believe it too.

She has since gone on to give us many memorable moments in Rodarte, Miu Miu, Lanvin, Prabal Gurung and, most recently, my favourite, Elie Saab.

Lupita is a refreshing beauty with great style, but let’s not forget her credentials as a talented actress and filmmaker.

With SAG, Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Awards nominations for Best Supporting Actress in ’12 Years A Slave’ under her belt so far, we can look forward to many more impressive red carpet moments from Lupita during awards season in 2014.

Promo Tour Star 2013 – Elizabeth Banks for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

Promo Tour Star 2013 – Elizabeth Banks for 'The Hunger Games Catching Fire'

For most outlets, ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ promo tour was all about Jennifer Lawrence, but here we were in awe of Elizabeth Banks.

While some thought her overdressed, considering she wasn’t the lead actress, others like me are glad she stepped up to the plate, taking this promo tour by the scuff of the neck and making it one of the most impressive promo-tour runs in memory.

With Elie Saab and Alexander McQueen her go-to designers, she kicked things off in grand style wearing a Jason Wu custom gown worthy of a world premiere.

Just when we thought she may have peaked too soon, she floored us with an Elie Saab Couture gown, which was one of your favourites of 2013 and was her best look of the tour.

The only other person who came close to Elizabeth this year for me was Kerry Washington for ‘Django Unchained’, who was my favourite to take this award until Elizabeth picked us up and swept us off our feets.

Best Dressed Teen 2013 – Kiernan Shipka

Best Dressed Teen 2013 - Kiernan Shipka

Kiernan Shipka was voted your best-dressed teen star of 2013.

The ‘Mad Men’ actress, who narrowly lost out to Elle Fanning last year, was stylish, event appropriate and totally adorable for each of her red carpet appearances.

Going from cutesy dresses to single-handedly putting Spanish brand Delpozo on the fashion map, I still feel that there is more greatness to come from this young fashionista.

She had many great looks this year, but if I had to narrow down my favourite it would have to be her Oscar de la Renta SAG Awards dress followed by her Delpozo Emmys dress.

The best thing about Kiernan is that she doesn’t appear to be in any hurry to dress too maturely, a la Miley Cyrus during her Hannah Montana latter years.
