Entertainer of 2011 – Florence Welch

I was sure you were going to vote Lady Gaga as your favourite entertainer of the year, but that honour went to Florence Welch.

Ever since she burst onto the scene we haven’t been able to get enough of Florence’s style.

Whether she’s on stage or off duty, her bold choices have captivated not only us, but also Frida Giannini of Gucci, who designed Florence’s summer tour wardrobe.

We love how Florence effortlessly combines 70s style with a quaint simplicity.

On stage she is electric, opting for floaty, dramatic pieces which very much become part of her performance.

Aside fro Gucci, Florence has favoured designers such as Naeem Khan, Elie Saab and YSL this year.

Best New Red Carpet Designer of 2011 – Mary Katrantzou

The designer Mary Katrantzou isn’t new by any means, but the newfound love she’s receiving from celebrities is.

She was a well-kept secret by fashion insiders like Anna Dello Russo, but the secret is out now and popping up all over the red carpet.

Keira Knightley donned one of her signature print dresses during Venice Film Festival and demand for Katrantzou dresses have sky rocketed ever since.

Whilst some celebs found it tricky to find a complementary heel for the vivid prints and therefore stuck to plain black pumps, others like Gillian Jacobs opted for an interesting chartreuse hue, whilst Danielle Lineker and Keira Knightley opted for nude.

Most Popular Shoe of 2011 – Christian Louboutin Daffodile Pumps

It is strange how we did not get the appeal of the Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodile’ pumps, yet celebrities adored them.

We often referred to them as stripper shoes, but these popular pumps have treaded red carpets around the world and the streets of London, New York and LA.

Stars such as Victoria Beckham, Fan Bingbing and Alicia Keys have used the stacked platform to add a few precious inches to their petite frames.

Even supermodel Heidi Klum opted for the sky-high heels which gave her 5ft 9in frame an extra 6.5 inches.

Ones To Watch In 2012

2012 is set to be an even more electric red carpet than 2011. So who are the ones to watch next year?

Juno Temple: The British actress has a major movie coming out next year: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. This should propel her into becoming a household name and hopefully we will see many amazing red carpet looks from her as she promos this movie. The actress also has three other movies coming out next year: ‘The Brass Teapot’, ‘Small Apartments’ and ‘Jack and Diane’.

Jennifer Lawrence: After awards season, Jennifer Lawrence disappeared from the red carpet. I don’t even recall her promoting ‘X-Men: First Class’ as I was surprised to see her in the movie. Next year she has three movies coming out so we should see her tread the red carpet many times for ‘House at the End of the Street’, ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’.

Rooney Mara: Since the actress has had such a dramatic transformation, and with many more movies within the ‘Dragon Tattoo’ franchise to come, it will be interesting to see how Rooney continues to evolve. Many of you are already tired of her wearing black or white; will she give us some more colour in 2012?

Celebrities Loved…The Dolce & Gabbana Star Print

Back in February, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana sent models down the runway decked out in star prints ranging from fitted bustier dresses to floaty maxis.

Who knew that by the summer it would be the hottest trend around, with everyone donning that galactic print on red carpets around the world.

Asian actress Wei Tang was the first to start the obsession during Cannes Film Festival back in May.

Lily Allen and Jessica Alba dressed their baby bumps in the star print, Evan Rachel Wood and Solange opted for star-print pants, and, just this weekend, Helen Mirren (much to your displeasure) wore the now-famous Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 star print dress on the red carpet.

The trend wasn’t just confined to the red carpet, either: magazines around the world caught the fever with supermodels and actresses wearing the Dolce & Gabbana star print in their editorials.

Most Consistent 2011 – Diane Kruger

The one thing we admire most about Diane Kruger is that her style is all her own.

She never fails to deliver each time she hits the red carpet.

The German actress is rarely on any ‘Who Wore It Better?’ poll because she makes an effort to stand out from the Hollywood clones.

She continues to be experimental by bringing new designers to the red carpet like Alessandra Rich and No.21, whilst staying true to her favourites, Chanel and Jason Wu.

My personal Diane Kruger highlights this year were her Jason Wu Met Gala dress and short suit.
