The Black Halo Cutout Jackie O Dress was very easily the most worn dress on the red carpet for 2008.

This maybe because the dress came in an array of colours from all black, to white green and black, to taupe white and black.

Judging from the pictures above, I will assume that Rachel Zoe got her boney hands onto Anne Hathaway from February 2008, when she dressed her for the 2008 Oscars, as this for me is when the transformation began.

OK her style was not that bad prior to this point, but is was just not quite polished and lacked direction. Her Oscars 2007 dress, with the big black bow was a clear indication that she needed help.

The pressure to live up to her stylish character Andy from The Devil Wears Prada, must have been huge, but the actress took it in her stride, stayed a smart, and grounded young lady.

Her most daring dress this year was the black Sophia Kokosalaki dress she wore to the MTV Movie Awards, which no one could have predicted. But your favourite dress of the year was her Atelier Versace gown, which she wore to the Rachel Getting Married premiere at the 65th Venice Film Festival.

Rihanna was last years winner.

I think the majority of us were surprised by the improvement of Beyonce Knowles this year style-wise. This I would like to attribute this to her getting married, and feeling more in control of her style.

Not only did she improve on the red carpet, but in her stage costumes and her day to day style.

She does take two steps forward with the occasional one step back, but will she continue to improve, or will she return to the bling?

Blake Lively was the one to watch in 2008, and we all know what a disaster that turned out to be.

Last year Victoria Beckham’s pob, was the hairstyle of the year.

This year retro waves was the look that was most used on the red carpet.

Retro waves are big loose curls that give the star an Old Hollywood look. The look is very glamourous, sophisticated and sassy.

We were very used to seeing this look on Dita von Teese, and her mini me Evan Rachel Wood, but we also saw this look on stars like Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.

The rise of British model Jourdan Dunn is nothing short of amazing. As iD magazine said “You owe it to yourself. Set the world on fire”, and she did.

She model was on the cover of the now historic Italian Vogue, British Vogue, Pop and i:D - she was the first Black model to walk in a Prada show for 10 years - previously it was Naomi Campbell who last walked in that show.

Jordan also was the face of many campaigns. Most notably Topshop, Benetton, and Gap.

It was reported that the model walked an amazing 92 shows at Spring 2009 Fashion Week.

Her biggest test for 2009 is to land a major contract.
