There are some who were magnificent for 6 months of the year then fell off towards the end of the year - Blake Lively and Olga Kurylenko.

There there were those who had some good weeks, some bad weeks - Juliette Lewis and Kristen Bell.

There were also those who look great, but sometimes have a touch of de ja vu about them - Dita von Teese

There were also those who stuck to one format - Jennifer Aniston, Lauren Conrad and Angelina Jolie.

Then there are those who mix it up, make the red carpet interesting, and always hit the red carpet looking fantastic. For me no one embodied that more than Kerry Washington.

She was the most consistent on the red carpet in 2008. She never took to many risks, I agree, but I never once said I disliked anything she wore, and I am a tough girl to please.

Hair, make-up and accessories all played an important part for the girl who quietly made an impact on the red carpet in 2008.

Last year I predicted that Blake Lively would be the one-to-watch in 2008. The beginning of the year started off well with a stunning Gucci Resort dresses, then by September it had all started to fall apart.

We looked at our Mac & PC screens in shock that one so beautiful and young, had got it so wrong time after time, after time.

For me the lowest point was at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event, were she wore a Vena Cava maxi.

I still cringe when I look at that picture.

Unlike her contemporaries Selena Gomez was always age appropriate whenever she hit the red carpet.

There was never any over-the-top pouting, no 20lbs of weave in her hair, no undesirable choices.

She wore not only cute sassy dresses, but also long flowing gowns, with peep-toes being her shoe of choice.

She was still young and fun, yet showed a sense of maturity on the red carpet. I hope this continues in 2009.

OK she looks awesome in black, especially at when she attended The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button LA premiere recently, but I am so over her in black.

When she was a goth it was OK, but she has so moved on from that era in her life.

Yes she considers herself a serious actress and not a clothes horse, but a colourful dress would enhance her beauty even more.

In an open letter to Jennifer Rade, Angelina’s stylist. PLEASE add some colour to her wardrobe. Her yellow Ungaro dress at the Ocean’s 13 at Cannes in 2007 was amazing.

With awards season starting early 2009, we will see Angelina many times on the red carpet. I pray not always in black.

Pray with me folks.

Yes I voted David Beckham as Man Of The Year in 2007, and yes you could argue that both Daniel Craig and Will Smith were more worthy of this title, but I would argue that no man, NO MAN wears a suit quite like David Beckham.

Whether it is a tux and a bow tie, a 3 piece Tom Ford suit, or a plaid shirt with a baseball cap, David completely owns his look.

Don’t insult him by saying Victoria dresses him, because this is not true. David is a very stylish man, even whilst carrying his two small sons in each arm.

He is also a caring dad. That picture of him and his son Cruz just melts my little black heart.

Rihanna went from sassy R&B singer, to edgy Rock Chick in a blink of an eye.

She started off the year wearing cute Betsey Johnson dresses with Jimmy Choo shoes, but the end of 2008 she was scaring the bejesus out of us, wearing studded and spikey ensembles from Phillipe and David Blond.

We -well I- was introduced to many new designers via Rihanna such as Peter Pilotto, Mara Hoffman, and the Blonds.

This kind of look would not appeal to everyone, but her courage to pull if off has to be admired.

As Andy rightfully said, Kim Kardashian deserves a lot of recognition for her efforts on the red carpet in 2008.

We will be hopeful she won’t return to her old ways in 2009.

Jennifer Rade is a genius stylist for turning Kim Kardashian from a reject on Flavor of Love, to a charming sophisticated woman.

My favourite dress was her red Gustavo Cadile gown, which she wore to the Los Premios MTV Latin America Awards.
