When
Herve Leger first had its revival everyone
jumped on the bandwagon. That was in 2007, a year later, and we are officially o.v.e.r the body-con dresses, mostly because they are everywhere and everyone from Catherine Zeta Jones to Heidi Montag is wearing them.
Despite the overload, there have been some great Herve Leger dresses on the red carpet this year.
My personal favourites were worn by Rachel Bilson and Kirsty Gallacher. Rachel’s dress gave her a fantastic figure we did not even know she had, and Kirsty’s for the bold colours, and how the dress showed off her athletic frame.

Just because it was the most worn brand of 2008, this did not make it a good thing. Some bodies are not made for
Herve dresses, Mischa Barton and Michelle Ryan proved that.
We also knew that we were over Herve dresses when The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Audrina Patridge started wearing them.

Rosettes, contrast straps, blocks of colour, high necklines, respected actresses jumping on the bandwagon a year too late
Herve Leger were all no no’s in my book.

Have a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
I am taking a break, but will be back soon, although I will be regularly checking your comments.
I can’t wait to bring you all the red carpet action in 2009, especially during award season.
Thanks for all your support during 2008.

The Spring 2008 runways were full of jumpsuit, as were the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 runways. So it would be safe to say that the jumpsuits trend will not be going away anytime soon.
My favourite jumpsuits this year were worn by Malin Akerman, Joy Bryant, Angie Harmon and Amy Adams.
Spring 2009 jumpsuit are so wide-legged, you would be forgiven for thinking that they were dresses, like the Missoni one’s both Joy Bryant and Kerry Washington wore.

Ladies Loved Lanvin on the red carpet this year. Celebrities could not get enough of Alber Elbaz designs.
Natalie Portman, who wore his signature tiered ruffle cocktail dresses many times on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival which kicked started the trend of wearing Lanvin on the red carpet this summer.
Padma Lakshmi and Natalie both wore 3 stunning Spring 2008 design’s, with Carine Roitfeld wore my favourite billowing dress, with a large patent belt to nip in her waist.
Lanvin fever did not die down when the Fall 2008 collections hit the runway. Quite the opposite. Even more stars walked the red carpet in the dark, mysterious designs.
Elbaz even managed to make what appears to be a bin liner -as worn by Brandy- look good.
Herve Leger was last years winner, before we had Herve Leger overload.

You could not swing a
Fendi handbag on the red carpet without bumping into a celebrity wearing a pair of
YSL Trib Two Platform Pumps in 2008.

Coco Rocha was the first to be seen wearing these gorgeous platform shoes back in July, and they soon became the red carpet staple.
Although these heels are very high at 5½”, they are surprisingly very comfortable to wear in comparison to Louboutin’s.

The shoes came in black leather and black patent leather, and the soles varied from blue, black and yellow.
Victoria Beckham was surprisingly one of the last to hop onto this trend.

I have said many times over the year that I love it when couples are well co-ordinated, and there was no couple more co-ordinated, nor more stylish than the Smiths.
Sometimes they were colour co-ordinated like in grey to the left. Or they just complimented each other well like in the other two pictures.
Whether it was premiere or attending Nelson Mendela’s birthday bash, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, stood head and shoulders above every other couple.
Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson, may have won this if it was not for Joshua. He has no style. He has a lot to learn from his girlfriend.
Brad and Angelina in their black on black ensembles did not even come close.

Love her or hate her, there is no denying that Victoria Beckham has the best sidewalk style
bar none. Kate Moss would be a distant runner up, but I can’t think of any others who can compete with Victoria.
When she moved to LA she was adamant that we would not see her in a Juicy Couture tracksuit and Ugg boots, and she stuck to her word.
Her style is very tailored, sleek, classic and most importantly timeless.
OK some would say she gets over-dressed for a 10 hour flight, or is ridiculous for wearing 6″ heels to go shopping at The Grove with 3 young sons, but this has always been the VB way, and I personally love her for it.
