Get the Look: Kate Bosworth’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party Old Hollywood Charm

One of Kate Bosworth’s finest red carpet moments came at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party where she wore a stunning green fairy princess J. Mendel gown.

We love how her her gorgeous gown was complimented by absolutely flawless makeup.

Celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo for Marc Jacobs created a romantic and timeless look for the actress that can only be categorized as old Hollywood meets modern day vamp.

Here is how he created her look.

To prep Kate’s skin before makeup application, Vanngo used Olehenriksen Truth Serum and Marc Jacobs Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer.

He then mixed Marc Jacobs Beauty Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation in Bisque Medium 26 with Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter and buffed a thin layer over Kate’s entire face, blending a bit down her neck for the ultimate glow on the red carpet.

He then brightened the center of her face with Marc Jacobs Beauty Remedy Concealer Pen Rendezvous 1. In areas that required extra coverage he applied Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(marc)able full cover concealer Alive 2.

For added warmth and dimension he patted Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator to the high points of her face and then dusted Marc Jacobs Beauty O!mega Bronzer Perfect Tan along her temples and cheekbones.

To get her eyes to compliment her gown Vanngo applied Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Intro(vert) 52, onto Kate’s eyelids and under her lower lashes. He then used a brush to blend the liner to further define her eyes.

Vanngo then smudged Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyelinerin (brown)ie 53, into her lashes on the outer part of her eyes. He then sealed the deal a few coats of Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara on her top and bottom lashes.

To fill in Kate’s brows he used Marc Jacobs Beauty Brow Wow Defining Longwear Eyebrow Pencil Taupe 2 and brushed them up using Marc Jacobs Beauty Brow Tamer Grooming Gel.

To pull attention to her lips he defined them in a colour similar to her complexion and chose Marc Jacobs Beauty (P)outliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil Currant Mood 308 and used a brush to on Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick Blow 210.

He complemented her lips by using Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in 500 Lush & Libido – petal pink/orchid pink duo, on her cheeks.

He finished her look off with Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfection Powder– Featherweight Foundation Ivory Bisque 200 and set it all with Marc Jacobs Beauty Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist.

Get The Look: Hailee Steinfeld’s Oscar Double Ballerina Buns

Hailee Steinfeld was one of our favourites at the 2017 Oscars. Though her look was simple it also had an air of elegance and maturity beyond her 20 years.

Her Ralph & Russo Couture gown was sheer elegance, and when she turned we were entreated to two ballerina buns down the back of her head that sat atop each other. They mirrored the two rosettes on the back of her gown.

Celeb stylist Chris Appleton said that he took inspiration from her frock in order to create this sleek updo style. “We went for a bold style to compliment the mixture of classic and modern vibe given from her gown.”

Here’s how to create the look.

Prep clean wet hair with TONI & GUY Prep Heat Protection Mist. Section your hair and blow dry it backwards and away from your face using a paddle brush.

Once dry, section off the top half of the hair and gather the lower half into a ponytail at the back of the head.

Then apply TONI & GUY Style Spray Wax throughout the top section for a high-shine effect and begin curling hair using a 1-inch curling iron.
Once your hair is cooled, gently brush the curls out and join to the existing ponytail.

Wrap sections of hair from the pony tail in a clockwise motion above and below, twisting into a flower shape. Secure with pins.

Set the look with TONI & GUY Medium Hold Hairspray.

Get The Look: Dakota Johnson’s ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ Fifty Shades Darker Braid

Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend created Dakota Johnson’s amazing hairstyle at for the LA premiere of ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ last night.

He said, “For the Fifty Shades Darker premiere, we really wanted the focus to be on Dakota’s gorgeous dress. We decided to keep her hair out of her face by doing a long, textured braid in the back.”

“I started by spraying TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boosting Spray to her damp roots and then blew her hair out with my mixed bristle round brush.”

“Once her hair was dry, I set the top mohawk section with duck bill clips to create volume. I then sprayed my paddle brush with Dove Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo and vigorously brushed all of her hair in the back for volume and texture.

“Once her hair had the perfect texture, I went in and twisted uneven sections of her locks into braids and twists. As I went along, I used dark bobby pins to keep the loose bits secured.”

“When I was happy with the plait, I secured it with a few Blax elastics. I then released the mohawk section from the duck bill clips and used a bit of Dove Absolute Curls Crème Serum to get a bit of shine on the front.”

“I topped this look off by pulling her front pieces back and securing it with dark scunci bobby pins. The result is a perfectly imperfect play on a plaited textured look.”

Get The Look: Emmy Rossum’s Gotham Awards Makeup

Emmy RossumCelebrity makeup artist Quinn Murphy worked with Emmy Rossum for the Gotham Independent Film Awards on Monday (November 30) in New York City.

“Emmy was wearing a black and brown Simone Rocha mini dress to the Gotham Awards. I wanted to do something sexy and to bring out her beautiful eyes. I used black, chocolate brown and camel hues to give the smoky eye effect,” said Quinn.

Here’s how to get the look.

He started by using a very tiny amount of Armani Luminous Silk Foundation #4. Emmy has amazing porcelain skin, so very little is needed. He then lightly filled in her brows with M.A.C. Pencil in Lingering, focusing on the outer third of the brow.

For the eyes, he lined the top lash line with his favourite Votre Vu Pencil in black. It stays put basically forever, so it’s great for long wear at events. He increased the thickness on the outer ends of the eyes and gave them a mini cat like shape. Next he used a duo of NARS Shadows on top of the black liner to create the ‘smoky’ effect.

First, a deep chocolate brown – Bengali – and then a warm taupe called Blondie that he blended past her crease. Next, he linked the bottom lash line with a Kevyn Aucoin brown Pencil Liner. Brown on the bottom isn’t as heavy and one-dimensional as black. He finished with black mascara on top and bottom lashes.

He bypassed blush and instead used a bronzer to keep the look cool and tough. He used NARS in Casino on the edges of her face and slightly towards the apples of the cheek.

For the lip, he didn’t want to do anything too ‘makeupy’ – something resembling her natural lip tone to keep it cool and unfussy. He lined the lip with Kevyn Aucoin Medium Lip Pencil and filled in the entire lip. He topped with basicChapstick for moisture and touchups.

Get The Look: Kate Bosworth’s ‘The Art Of More’ Grecian-Inspired Braid

Kate Bosworth's 'The Art Of More' Grecian-Inspired Braid

Celebrity hairstylist Bridget Brager worked with Kate Bosworth for SAG Foundation’s Conversation on ‘The Art of More’ in Los Angeles last week.

“For Kate’s look, we wanted to do a ‘cool girl’ braid. Something a bit different, but not too flashy,” said Bridget.

Here’s how to get the look.

Bridget started by giving Kate a wavy, ‘bed head’ look. She added a little Sachajuan Ocean Mist, gave it a rough blow-dry, and curl-wanded with a T3 Whirl Trio. That’s all you need for lived-in waves.

She started by creating a deep side part, then Dutch-braided the hair down the side of her head, following her hairline. The idea was to have the braid continuing its way down, just behind the ear and then wrapping around the nape. She secured the braid with a bobby pin.

To finish the look, she used Kevin Murphy Powder Puff to create some volume and texture in the braid as she pulled it apart for a more lived-in feel.

Get The Look: Nina Dobrev’s Elle Women in Hollywood Awards Makeup

Nina Dobrev Elle MakeupCelebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder worked with Nina Dobrev for the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday (October 19).

“Nina was wearing a nude Calvin Klein dress, so I wanted to add a pop of color with her makeup. I decided to go with a burgundy lip paired with a really well blended taupe eye,” said Monika.
Here’s how to get the look.

Monika started by applying Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in shade 255 all over Nina’s face, using a foundation brush to applying in the center of the face, then blending outward using a Beauty Blender.

To brighten her under eye area, she applied M.A.C. Select Moisture cover in NW20 in the socket of her under eye area.

She then filled in the brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Chocolate to give her more defined, fuller arches.

Using the Golden Goddess Palette by Charlotte Tilbury, she applied the Smoke Shade with a M.A.C. 217 brush, washing the colour backwards and forward along the socket. She also applied a little on the outer corners to create a reverse V.

She then applied the Enhance shade along the brow bone to give Nina a highlight, then, using the Dolce Vita palette, she applied the Pop shade on the lid under her socket with using a M.A.C. 239 Brush.

Taking a thin brush, she applied the Smoke shade of the Golden Goddess Palette lightly along her upper lash line, like eyeliner.

Monika curled Nina’s lashes using Kevyn Aucoin Lash Curler, then applied three coats of the Dior Addict It-Lash. She also used a few Ardell Individual Lashes on the outer corners of her eyes.

To warm up her complexion, she applied M.A.C. Golden Refined Bronzer using a fluffy bronzing brush along her cheekbones in a circular motion, then lightly brushed along her jaw line, temples and forehead.

On the apples of Nina’s cheeks, Monika applied Kevyn Aucoin Blush in Ariana, and for a little bit of highlight, she used the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, mixing Incandescent and Radiant light and applying on the upper cheekbone and dusting underneath the eyes.

On her lips, she started by applying Tom Ford Bruised Plum Lipstick straight from the bullet, and to clean up the edges and define the lip shape, she used the Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Vamp.

Get The Look: Lady Gaga’s ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Countess Look

gagaCelebrity makeup artist Sarah Tanno worked with Lady Gaga for the premiere of ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ on Saturday (October 3) in Los Angeles.

Here’s how to get the look.

Sarah started by bleaching her natural brows and used Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to brush them up and keep in place.

For her skin, Sarah wanted a soft, velvety glow so she used Armani Maestro Foundation and Luminous Silk Powder only on the T-zone.

One of Sarah’s go to products is Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate to contour and highlight the skin. It’s a cream which she loves because it keeps the skin so smooth. Armani Fluid Sheer in #8 blush was then applied.

To get the Countess shaded winged eye, Sarah used Armani Smooth Silk Eye Pencil in #2 only on the outer half of the lash line (top and bottom) and blended up into a wing shape.

She sculpted the inside of the eye with Bobbi Brown’s Eye Shadow in Warm Taupe; adding Lilly Lashes in Miami and Sisley Mascara to create an old Hollywood feel.

Sarah finished off Gaga’s eyes with a touch of gloss at the center of the lid.

Gaga’s timeless red pout was created using M.A.C. Cherry liner with Bésame Red Hot Red Lipstick.
