Hailey Baldwin In HUGO – Out In London

Hailey Baldwin has been making fashion statements on and off the runway during London Fashion Week, turning heads on Saturday (September 16) with a sunny yellow ensemble.

Injecting some joy, the model sported a HUGO Spring 2018 crinkle suit. Updating the traditional suiting silhouette, the jacket featured statement shoulders while above-the-knee shorts replaced the typical trousers. A whisper of a transparent silk top was just seen underneath.

Some might balk at the 1980s styling, but I’m in favour of the statement hoops and chunky black sunglasses. And I like the way she tucked in the sheer top.

I’m still not completely sold on the boots and I wish that the jacket sleeves were tailored to be the proper length. Thoughts?

Sylvia Hoeks In Preen – ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Berlin & Rome Photocall

Sylvia Hoeks brought some feminine flair to the ‘Blade Runner 2049’ press tour, first at the Berlin photocall on Sunday (September 17) then on Tuesday (September 19) at the Rome photocall.

Berlin Photocall: The inky fabric of her Preen ensemble toughened up the delicate ruffles and gathers. Cinched with a studded belt and accented with black pointed-toe pumps, the outfit was in keeping with the film’s futuristic theme without veering into clichés or becoming costume-y. This was in total contrast to her co-star Ana de Armas’ glittery affair.

Rome Photocall: Adding some blooms to her black colour palette, the Dutch actress wore a Preen Fall 2017 dress which brought a moody elegance. The Pierre Hardy ‘Eyes’ sandals added a surrealist element to the outfit.

‘Woodshock’ LA Premiere

The ‘Woodshock’ premiere on Monday (September 18) in LA was a fantastical affair with attendees supporting designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s directorial debut in Rodarte.

Tessa Thompson: A frequent wearer of Rodarte, the actress-musician stayed true to form in a Rodarte Fall 2017 lace dress. The whimsical factor was enhanced with Yael Sonia jewels and Charlotte Olympia ‘Wild At Heart’ platform sandals. The finishing touch was a crown of blue flowers nestled in her updo.

Kirsten Dunst: Naturally, the longtime Rodarte devotee and ‘Woodshock’ star, donned Rodarte for the premiere. Some might have issues with the sheer dress from Spring 2018, but I find the diaphanous fabric helps tame the sweetness of the ruffles and sparkles. I also love the way Kirsten nodded to the runway version with a floral sprig in her blonde waves. Forevermark jewels completed her look.

Rowan Blanchard: Finishing the Rodarte trifecta, the young actress wore a shimmering Fall 2017 dress. If I had to nitpick, I find that the Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Gwyneth’ sandals distract slightly from the shimmering dress because of the black, whereas the coordinating clutch was more successful. Still, it was another successful look for the Rodarte fan.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Although many fellows were at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17), a few others were hopping about to their own respective premieres and events.

Pedro Pascal: Pedro walked the line in his Ermenegildo Zegna Couture felt suit that offered a linear twist on tradition at the London premiere of ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ on Monday (September 18).

Dave Franco: Dave had me at hello at the ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ premiere in Carlsbad, California on Saturday (September 16). With a nod to retro inspiration gone modern, he looked sharp in his Salvatore Ferragamo suit styled with a playful, bear-print shirt and Christian Louboutin ‘Cousin Greg’ shoes.

Colin Firth: Also at the ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ premiere, Colin carried the classic torch in his Tom Ford suit that fit him like a glove. Plus, he gets bonus points for the geek-handsome glasses.
