Brie Larson In Gucci – 2018 SAG Awards

Brie Larson returned to the red carpet at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA with sparkle to spare.

We’ve seen a few mega-embellished looks tonight, and there is no denying that Gucci glitz and glam was alive and well in this sequin and crystallized gown from the label.

But, here, the embellishment took on a lovely sense of charming femininity—complete with the pouf sleeve and crystallized bow for an added flourish of girly appeal.

I like how effortless Brie’s styling was in contrast to the rich radiance of the dress. Side-parted waves and the whiff of metallic teal eye shadow were such a modern way to wrap up the look.

Saoirse Ronan In Louis Vuitton – 2018 SAG Awards

Wearing what appears to be the colour of the night, soft pink, Saoirse Ronan stepped onto the red carpet of the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

The ‘Lady Bird’ actress and nominee was one of my favourites at the 2018 Golden Globes, but with this Louis Vuitton gown, I was missing a bit of that dynamic wow factor.

That’s not to say the look didn’t have a pretty-in-pink appeal. But, there was something about the awkward, directional lines of the dimensional sequin paneling that didn’t quite add up.

I also could have done without the half-tied, tassel belt that only featured at the front, as I think it interrupted what could have been a more statuesque effect.

Christian Louboutin heels and Cartier jewels completed the look. I do wonder what a sleeker, less ‘undone’ hairstyle would have brought to the table to enhance the sophistication.

Millie Bobby Brown In Calvin Klein by Appointment – 2018 SAG Awards

Millie Bobby Brown may be only 13 years old, but she always keeps us on our toes with her style, again rewriting her own fashion rules at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

Perhaps the ‘Stranger Things’ starlet was responding to the 13-going-on-30 comments about her mature style when she selected this look.

The pastel-pink, micro-sequin Calvin Klein by Appointment cape-back frock did have a more traditionally youthful, girly sensibility.

But, it was the styling that really added the rebellious, sprightly quality, beginning with her precious high side buns, wrapped with black ribbon, and ending with her sporty white sneakers.

A few Repossi jewels completed the nonconformist look. But, did you like her more kid-friendly jaunt?

Margot Robbie In Miu Miu – 2018 SAG Awards

Fresh off her BDOTW nod for a fairytale-inspired look, Margot Robbie continued to explore a softer side at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

I am always intrigued by Margot’s edgier entrances, but I was just as captivated by the sweet innocence of this ballet-pink Miu Miu confection.

It had just the right amount of glint and whimsy in the studded embellishment and feathery waist to create a sweetness that didn’t come across as overly precious.

And, her au naturel beauty look echoed the delicate nature of the dress with that silver Jimmy Choo ‘Celeste’ clutch adding an exclamation point to the look.

If I were to nitpick, I would have hemmed the front of the gown just a smidge more, as it seemed to be a bit too floor-skimming.

Kristen Bell In J. Mendel – 2018 SAG Awards

I was awaiting a bright rush of colour on the 2018 SAG Awards red carpet, so I was rejoicing at the sight of Kristen Bell on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

She ensured her first red-carpet of the New Year was a colourful one in this floral-embroidered, fuchsia number from the J. Mendel Resort 2018 collection.

The dropped-waist silhouette is what took the gown in a fresh direction from traditional ball-gown proportions.

I love the inherent girlish femininity of the look, imbued with plenty of elegance by way of her careful styling. Lorraine Schwartz jewels referenced the dress’s vivid pink hue and a glossy box clutch topped it off.

Allison Janney In Yanina Couture – 2018 SAG Awards

Allison Janney was also at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA—and, judging by her shiny statement, she also received the same magpie memo as Danielle Brooks.

The ‘I, Tonya’ actress and nominee dazzled in a custom Yanina Couture strong-shoulder gown with all-over gunmetal paillettes.

Allison seems to be a fan of simple silhouettes that are enhanced by a wow factor such as bold use of embellishment or colour. And, this retro-forward, liquid silver dress certainly fit that bill.

Sleek styling was the way to go here with those head-to-sleeve-to-toe sequins, so I’m glad she kept it simple and straightforward with her sleek ponytail and tonal jewels.

Danielle Brooks In Marc Bouwer – 2018 SAG Awards

Danielle Brooks’ sequin game was strong at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in LA.

The ‘Orange Is The New Black’ actress donned a Marc Bouwer gown that prioritized a dynamic, ombre gradation of red to black tones.

I like how she kept the all-over embellishment and the plunge neckline on the classic side by virtue of her styling.

A simple Tadashi Shoji clutch along with elegant finger waves and minimal jewels completed the look, as the dress itself had enough dazzle.
