2017 Logie Awards

The 59th annual Logie Awards, celebrating Australian television, were held on Sunday (April 23) in Melbourne, Australia, with a number of stars in attendance.

Penny McNamee: Go big or go home was the mantra of this sweeping Alin Le Kal confection. With its floral-embroidered illusion bodice and mountains of tulle, this was a princess moment taken to another level entirely.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Between the 2017 Time 100 Gala in New York City, to a Hollywood premiere and a special screening in London, there were plenty of reasons for the men to be out in force on Tuesday (April 25).

Riz Ahmed: I applaud Riz for stepping outside the navy and black box to wear this camel Prada Spring 2017 suit—and to wear it so well—at the Time 100 Gala. However, I do question the black dress shirt and brown loafers.

Orlando Bloom: At a special screening of ‘Unlocked’ in London, the actor was casually sharp in a Dior Homme blue suit enhanced by the patterned shirt underneath that precluded the need for a tie.

Ryan Reynolds: Also at the Time 100 Gala, Ryan went for a more classic route in a Brunello Cucinelli navy tux that was handsomely polished for the occasion.

2017 Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner

There was a sea of Chanel ensembles to be seen and admired from the guests at the Chanel Artists Dinner, hosted on Monday (April 24) during the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

Katie Holmes: Despite this being a sheer Chanel look, it manifested a casual, feminine charm. But I think it was Katie’s new, wavy bob along with metallic accessories that worked wonders to keep the look on fresh ground.

Dianna Agron: Classic Chanel tweed was turned on its head in this Spring 2017 ensemble that came alive with a holographic array of hues. The cropped top attempted to counterbalance the looser proportions of the jacket and skirt. I just wish her shoes had been as bold as her fuchsia eyeliner.

Dree Hemingway: Reflecting Dree’s free-spirited style, this Chanel look likewise paid homage to the spirited Gabrielle Coco Chanel herself. Sure, it was a quirky combination with the embellished sweater, girly pink skirt and granny-chic shoes. But, Dree has the presence to pull it off; I just wish she had done something more with her hair and makeup.

Lea Seydoux In Louis Vuitton & Marion Cotillard In Mugler – Chopard Dinner Du Cinema Celebrating Cannes Film Festival

Lea Seydoux and Marion Cotillard were at the Chopard Dinner Du Cinema Celebrating the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday (April 22) in Paris.

Lea Seydoux: While Lea’s Louis Vuitton Spring 2017 overcoat featured a sense of tailored femininity, it was a bit underwhelming for this occasion. Seeing the embellished sleeves of the outfit underneath only left me wishing to see more of it. I am glad she brought in some bright, bold vivacity with her lip shade.

Marion Cotillard: Conversely, there was no lacklustre feeling to be had when it came to Marion’s Mugler Fall 2017 dress and its brilliant shade of metallic blue. I love the slight futuristic edge of the statement shoulder, with a sparkling necklace perfectly icing the neckline of the look. If I were to nitpick, I do wish she had worn a more minimal sandal instead of the heavy straps.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A few men showed their style colours recently on the red carpet. Here, a look at what they wore.

Dan Stevens: Dan was as dapper as could be in a sharp Bottega Veneta patterned suit with Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes at the ‘Permission’ premiere at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival in NYC on Saturday (April 22), where he joined Rebecca Hall. I love the mod movement that the graphic patterning of his suit provided.

Channing Tatum: With Jenna Dewan-Tatum close by, Channing also provided his own brand of eye candy in his version of a red-hot three-piece suit at the grand opening of ‘Magic Mike Live Las Vegas’ on Friday (April 21). The colour is one thing, but I think I would have found more affection for the look had the strangely dated, confetti tie been replaced.

Ben Affleck: The actor attended the first annual AutFest International Film Festival on Sunday (April 23) in Orange, California. While the rich teal-blue hue had potential, this Dolce & Gabbana three-piece suit seemed a bit forced. I blame the high silhouette of the vest and the tie that fell askance. Christian Louboutin ‘Greggo’ shoes rounded out the look.

2017 Humane Society Gala

The Humane Society’s annual ‘To the Rescue!’ gala was held on Saturday (April 22) in LA, with a group of animal-loving stars in attendance.

Laura Vandervoort: The epitome of chic, Laura showed off the glories of the LBD’s counterpart, the little white dress, in this Rhea Costa Pre-Fall 2017 design. I love the subtle drama of the split sleeves and how she frosted the minimalist look with the sophisticated flash of accessories including an embellished bronze Kate Spade New York clutch and Bionda Castana metallic shoes.

Elizabeth Banks: Girly springtime flair was alive and well in this pointillist pink Fendi dress styled with complementary Prada shoes. The racing stripes down the front and sides added a welcome edge to the sweetness of the ruffle skirt, keeping the look from going too sugary.

Rooney Mara: This Burberry Spring 2017 ensemble paired ladylike, doily lace with a menswear-inspired dress shirt. But, despite the fresh, creamy-white hue, the look not only seemed ill-fitted but also a bit drab and ageing on Rooney.
