19.09.17 Menswear, Premiere

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Although many fellows were at the 2017 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 17), a few others were hopping about to their own respective premieres and events.

Pedro Pascal: Pedro walked the line in his Ermenegildo Zegna Couture felt suit that offered a linear twist on tradition at the London premiere of ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ on Monday (September 18).

Dave Franco: Dave had me at hello at the ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ premiere in Carlsbad, California on Saturday (September 16). With a nod to retro inspiration gone modern, he looked sharp in his Salvatore Ferragamo suit styled with a playful, bear-print Band of Outsiders shirt and Christian Louboutin ‘Cousin Greg’ shoes.

Colin Firth: Also at the ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ premiere, Colin carried the classic torch in his Tom Ford suit that fit him like a glove. Plus, he gets bonus points for the geek-handsome glasses.

Ana de Armas In Miu Miu – Blade Runner 2049’ Berlin Screening

Bringing the flash of sequins to the light of day, Ana de Armas was at the Berlin screening of ‘Blade Runner 2049’ on Sunday (September 17).

Miu Miu will never be faulted for not using embellishment to its full advantage.

But the main issue I have with this high-shine look from the label is in its proportions.

The tunic top seemed to fall a bit too short on Ana whilst the trousers were too long—all of which created an awkward effect that didn’t flatter as much as it could have.

Would you agree?

Constance Wu In Luisa Beccaria – ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ Premiere

Constance Wu joined Olivia Munn for the premiere of ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ in Carlsbad, California on Saturday (September 16).

Like Olivia, Constance went for an ultra-feminine, pastel-centric look in her primrose-yellow Luisa Beccaria Resort 2018 point d’espirit, plisse dress.

Like a lemony meringue confection, it had a sense of wispy sense of lightness and girlie ethereality, but the actress added a quirky edge with her gold Stuart Weitzman platforms.

She rounded out the look with an Edie Parker clutch and Maya Brenner jewels. I just wonder if the fit of the bodice couldn’t have been a tad better.

Rihanna In Rosie Assoulin – Out In New York

With her own version of a pink streak, Rihanna was seen in Dumbo, Brooklyn whilst out for dinner on Saturday (September 16).

Her street-style love of oversized proportions marches on with this Rosie Assoulin Resort 2016 bubblegum-pink jumpsuit.

The exaggeratedly wide-legged pants may have been plenty roomy, but ironically, the same cannot be said for the bandeau top as it appeared nearly uncomfortably tight.

A furry bag and a moody red lip completed the ensemble that needed just a bit more breathing room—despite its generous proportions.

Maria Sharapova In David Koma – ‘Battle Of The Sexes’ LA Premiere

Joining Emma Stone, Maria Sharapova was also holding court at the LA premiere of ‘Battle Of The Sexes’ on Saturday (September 16) in Westwood, California.

By lining this ruffled macramé and satin frock from the David Koma Fall 2017 collection, she took the diagonal-cut mini down a sweeter, girlie route as opposed to more overt sexiness.

But that didn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of sassy fun to go around, which she amped up even more with sultry Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Leda’ pumps and a cherry-red lip.

There were mixed feelings about Emma’s look, so how does this one measure up?

Olivia Munn In Giamba & Self Portrait – ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ Photocall & Premiere

Olivia Munn served up two lovely looks at the photocall and premiere of ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ in Carlsbad, California on Thursday (September 14) and Saturday (September 16), respectively.

Photocall: Warding off evil spirits with her Giamba Fall 2017 dress that was patterned in the hands of Hamsa, Olivia was pretty in pink with this girlie boho dress. I love the modifications from the original presented here, what with the shortened length and revised collar detailing sans tie. Francesco Russo sandals completed the look.

Premiere: There will be no focus on fall with this Self Portrait dress that celebrated the label’s iconic mesh lace construction and unwavering femininity. Not only was the dress itself quite delightful, the seafoam-green colour was magical on her—especially when echoed with her eye makeup. Irene Neuwirth jewels, Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ sandals, and a Tyler Ellis clutch completed the sweet-chic look.
