Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

A handful of gentleman have been on the scene the past few days attending a range of premieres and photocalls.

Chiwetel Ejiofor: The actor was at the 53rd New York Film Festival for ‘The Martian’ premiere at Alice Tully Hall on Sunday (September 27). His tweedy Thom Sweeney three-piece suit added a sharp textural component to the standard-issue gray colourway.

Tom Hiddleston: For the ‘Crimson Peak’ premiere at UGC Cine Cite Bercy in Paris, France on Monday (September 28), Tom took a corporate-inspired approach in a saturated navy Polo Ralph Lauren ensemble. There was nothing so special about the suit, but it derived its power in the way the mix of blues enhanced his handsome gaze.

Mia Wasikowska In Altuzarra & Alexander McQueen – ‘Crimson Peak’ Rome Photocall & Paris Premiere

Mia Wasikowska In Altuzarra & Alexander McQueen - 'Crimson Peak' Rome Photocall & Paris Premiere

Mia Wasikowska attended the ‘Crimson Peak’ photocall at Le Jardin de Russie on Monday (September 28) in Rome, Italy followed that same day by the premiere at UGC Cine Cite Bercy in Paris, France.

Rome Photocall: She started the day in an Altuzarra Resort 2016 sweater and skirt that would have benefited from a more interesting pair of red sandals as a starting point. As presented, it echoed a rather dull sentiment that is too often consistent with her style.

Paris Premiere
: While this Alexander McQueen Fall 2015 black dress was moderately more dramatic, the extremely minimal—nonexistent—styling and repetitive black pumps left me with an impression that something was missing.

Barneys Celebrates the Launch of Altuzarra Handbags

Barneys Celebrates the Launch of Altuzarra Handbags

Barneys New York celebrated the launch of Altuzarra handbags with a luncheon hosted at Barneys New York Beverly Hills on Thursday (September 24) in Beverly Hills, California.

Zoe Saldana: As one of the co-hosts, the actress was chicly attired in an Altuzarra Spring 2016 dress and espadrille pumps paired with the Altuzarra ‘Ghianda Knot’ saddle bag from the Fall 2015 collection. While the slightly Asian-inspired button detailing and carwash pleats set the frock apart, it really served more as a blank canvas for the Altuzarra purse.

January Jones: The Altuzarra Fall 2016 ‘Ghianda Bullrope’ saddle bag had to more strongly compete for attention with January’s look, as her Altuzarra Resort 2016 textured white top and slashed-to-there skirt in a zesty orange hue were nothing if not attention-grabbing. The bright, juicy colour was delicious, but sometimes slits just go one smidge too high.

Selena Gomez In Elie Saab & Sybilla – Out In Paris

Selena Gomez In Elie Saab & Sybilla - Out In Paris

Selena Gomez is still making the rounds in support of her new album, ‘Revival,’ and was recently spotted in Paris, France over the weekend on Saturday (September 26), where she proved that white is perfectly appropriate for late September.

Look 1: It seems as if the City of Light has struck something of a romantic chord with the songstress, as she glided out in an ethereal Elie Saab Resort 2016 white belted dress paired with an Elie Saab clutch and Charlotte Olympia ‘Gilda’ gold sandals. I loved the flowing femininity of this effortlessly chic look, which she topped off with a classic red lip.

Look 2: Continuing down her simply sophisticated course, she switched into a Sybilla satiny backless frock with a reverse cape-like detail in the front for a subtle, sultry effect. A metallic pair of printed pumps added a touch of sass.

Alessandra Ambrosio In Dsquared² – amfAR Milano 2015

Alessandra Ambrosio In Dsquared² - amfAR Milano 2015

Alessandra Ambrosio was also among the supermodel set that included Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum at amfAR Milano 2015 held at La Permanente in Milan, Italy on Saturday (September 26).

Strutting out a Dsquared² Spring 2016 flashy neon design, the Brazilian beauty stripped the dress down to its sexy solo frame removing the runway’s more quirky style message.

Instead, she accessorized in the language of Bulgari jewels and strappy metallic sandals paired with an exaggerated winged eye and a lively high ponytail for a sense of playfulness.

I’m sure I won’t be the only one who strongly sensed the Balmain undercurrent in this bold-shouldered, structured and chain-embroidered mini dress.

At this point, though, I was rather pleasantly surprised to see that her style offering on Saturday evening was not (a) black or (b) sheer lace.
