Viola Davis In Escada - 2014 Emmy Awards

Viola Davis made a brilliant splash on the red carpet of the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday (August 25) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

Wearing a positively captivating shade of violet-blue, the actress stunned in an Escada Resort 2015 gown with a paillette-embellished, portrait neckline.

Furthering my affection for this look’s bold and beautiful colour story, she contrasted the blue with a deep ruby clutch, matching Sutra earrings and a red lip.

I am choosing to ignore that the bodice was a bit too snug.

Sarah Paulson In Armani Privé - 2014 Emmy Awards

There was no missing Sarah Paulson when she walked onto the red carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday (August 25) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ star and lead actress nominee worked an Armani Prive Fall 2014 design that certainly was one of the more striking pieces of the night.

It’s a ‘love it or hate it’ gown that maintained the dark, gothic sensibility that we are accustomed to seeing Sarah wear, but taken to another level with the extravagant flurry of red-dotted netting that encircled the dress.

Lorraine Schwartz cocktail rings flashed through all the cluster of mesh, while her straight bob and nude makeup contributed a more down-to-earth spin for this fuzzy creation.

Sarah Hyland In Christian Siriano - 2014 Emmy Awards

Sarah Hyland stunned at the 2014 Emmy Awards, hosted at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

The ‘Modern Family’ starlet brought the wow-factor back into full swing with a custom Christian Siriano two-piece white and red ensemble.

Another rendition of the cropped trend, the structured top took on a glamorous mood when mixed with the drama of the grand ballgown skirt.

Bow-shaped, diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz added a cute, clever twist, with a top-knot echoing the youthful, fun and sophisticated flair of this look. This is how to dress age-appropriately for the red carpet.

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji - 2014 Emmy Awards

Octavia Spencer was a presenter at the 2014 Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

Joining the evening’s red-gown-clad group, the ‘Red Band Society’ actress continued to pledge allegiance to her favoured designer, Tadashi Shoji, in a custom gown.

Highlighted by sash-like draping that curved around an embellished, short-sleeve bodice, the dress delivered on drama.

A deep crimson Rauwolf octagonal clutch and ruby gemstone Lorraine Schwartz earrings maintained the colour scheme. That said, her barely-there makeup had me wondering if she forgot her red lipstick.

Mindy Kaling In Kenzo - 2014 Emmy Awards 2

Mindy Kaling attended the 2014 Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

With her embrace of bright colour, ‘The Mindy Project’ star is always such an exuberant force to be reckoned with on the red carpet, and this was no different.

She flaunted her love of fashion and those intrepid hues, which she wears so beautifully, via a custom Kenzo coral-red halter gown with silver embellishment.

Tying the look together, she accessorized the dress with a Kotur clutch and an on-trend Swarovski ear cuff.

Lucy Liu In Zac Posen - 2014 Emmy Awards

Lucy Liu swept onto the red carpet at the 2014 Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California on Monday (August 25).

The ‘Elementary’ actress stunned in a beautifully draped Zac Posen ecru, sheer-effect gown with sultry corset-inspired detailing and gossamer layers that glided into a train behind her.

At first glance, the colour of the gown registered as a bit lacklustre.

But it’s hard to deny the subtle yet strong dynamic of this perfectly fitted dress, especially when its artfully styled with a Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
