Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup 23 march

The past few days have been filled with a range of menswear looks—from traditional to trendsetting. Here, a look at the highlights.

Channing Tatum: The actor attended the 26th annual GLAAD Media Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday (March 21) in California. Looking dapper in a dark Prada three-piece suit with contrasting navy tie, he and his striking wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, only heightened each other’s respective hot factor.

David Beckham: For the presentation of the new ‘Modern Essentials by H&M’ collection at the H&M Gran Via store in Madrid, Spain on Friday (March 20), Becks naturally wore an H&M ensemble paired with adidas sneakers. The classic suit separates paired with a relaxed T-shirt was sporty and simple with the crisp pop of white from the shoes, yet I do wish there were fewer visible creases in the pants. That more robust beard will also take some getting used to, as I barely recognize the soccer stud with it.

Brad Goreski
: The ‘Fashion Police’ star was also at the GLAAD Media Awards, donning a Valentino skinny brown suit with contrasting Christian Louboutin flats, which was perfectly in keeping with his spirited, cheeky style. I love the whimsical personality of the flutter of colourful butterflies and the additional pop from the three-tone shoes.

Michelle Obama’s Tour Of Asia

Michelle Obama's Five-Day Tour Of Asia

United States First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in Japan last week for a three-day visit, as part of a drive to promote girls’ education around the world, before heading to Cambodia for two days. Wearing a range of designers, she dynamically showed her love of bold colours and prints—and her ability to wear them confidently and effortlessly.

Look 1: Michelle couldn’t have made a better first impression upon arrival at Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport on Wednesday (March 18), waving to onlookers in a citron-yellow Kenzo printed frock that had me at hello. The colour was glorious on her and so, too, was the box-pleated, voluminous skirt. Some might say the statement metallic belt was a bit too much, but I would say it added an artsy edge. I’m glad she chose the directional Japanese label—and that she wore it without a tinge of try-hard.

Look 2: On Thursday (March 19), FLOTUS attended the Japan-U.S. Joint Girls Education Event at the Iikura Guest House in Tokyo. She was radiant in an Altuzarra custom dress coat from the Spring 2015 collection with a burnt-orange, lotus-inspired stencil print; a motif likely selected to pay homage to her Japanese tour.

Cate Blanchett Loves…Roksanda

Cate Blanchett Loves Roksanda

Cate Blanchett and Roksanda Ilincic: Two power girls with an impeccable sense of style—and who have actually become much of a perfect star-designer match. In fact, Cate can’t seem to get enough of the London-based designer’s bold block colours, artistic-inspired aesthetic, and signature, contemporary lines.

For the actress, who is elegance personified, Roksanda is right in keeping with her classic grace while maintaining a directional, modern spirit.

We’ve seen Queen Cate wear the versatile label for several years now, kicking off her chic streak at the ‘Blue Jasmine’ Los Angeles press conference where she showed that simple is sometimes the best answer in a richly hued bordeaux dress from the Fall 2013 collection.

Colour was also key in her effortless, vibrant coral Roksanda Ilincic Fall 2013 gown at the ‘Blue Jasmine’ Sydney premiere—a look that was set afire with her deep magenta lip.

From minimalism to a more fashion-forward edge, the actress once again impressed in a Fall 2014 frock at the Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014, which was brilliant for its confident colour-blocking, flower decal and metal belt.

Giving the dresses a rest, she sported a more mannish ensemble earlier this month at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, suiting up in a Resort 2015 blue blazer and pants.

Going from strength to strength, Cate most recently delighted in a geometric lavender and coral-pink Pre-Fall 2015 dress for the ‘Cinderella’ Sydney premiere. The charming outing was the icing on the cake of her Roksanda run that shows no sign of slowing anytime soon.

Gwen Stefani In Dolce & Gabbana – The Hollywood Reporters’ 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood Luncheon

Gwen Stefani In Dolce & Gabbana - The Hollywood Reporters' 25
Gwen Stefani turned heads at The Hollywood Reporters’ 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood Luncheon co-hosted by Jimmy Choo at the Soho House in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday (March 18).

Like Amy Adams and Zoe Saldana, she was there to support her power stylist, Petra Flannery.

And she did Petra proud in a Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 flamenco-inspired, hourglass frock, emblazoned with black polka dots and finished with a ruffled skirt.

Styled with platinum, retro waves, and of course, a bold red lip, this look was my luncheon favourite for its fun nature and spirited edge.

Zoe Saldana In Giamba – The Hollywood Reporters’ 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood Luncheon

Zoe Saldana In Giamba - The Hollywood Reporters' 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood Luncheon

Zoe Saldana joined the chic set, which also included Olivia Munn, Odeya Rush, and Amy Adams at The Hollywood Reporters’ 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood Luncheon co-hosted by Jimmy Choo at the Soho House in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday (March 18).

The actress wasn’t quite ready to usher in spring with her burgundy-toned dress from the Pre-Fall 2015 collection of Giambattista Valli’s new, youthfully inspired line called Giamba.

She paired the loosely draped, babydoll frock with beige Jimmy Choo ‘Xenia’ sandals and Jennifer Meyer jewels.

Brighter hued sandals or the punch of a magenta lip, à la Olivia, would have brought some zing to this look, which left me craving an added pop of colour.
