Sidewalk Style: Rihanna Loves Stella McCartney & Givenchy

While her Met Gala look may have some split, there’s no denying that when it comes to her street style, Rihanna knows exactly what she’s doing.

The star has been spotted on both coasts in the days leading up to and after the Met Gala showcasing a range of looks from her envious collection of designer pieces.

The songstress was seen heading to dinner at Phillipe Chow in New York City wearing a nude Stella McCartney top and pants.

She accessorized with nude Prada platforms. The muted colour palette was off-set not only by her flowing red locks, but also via her large Givenchy Mirte saddle bag. Large hoop earrings and a statement gold necklace finish off this look.

More Stella and Givenchy were on hand for another day out in New York City.

The extremely chic knee-length Stella McCartney sleeveless trench coat features a wide-collar and buckle fastening at the waist but Ri-Ri opted to keep it open to showcase her cropped off-white top and khaki shorts.

Her bag of choice was the Givenchy mini Pandora Messenger. Fendi Liberty cut-out platforms, layered gold necklaces and sunglasses topped off her outfit.

Taking a noticeably more casual and cool approach while on the west coast, Rihanna stepped out of Philippe Chow’s in Hollywood mixing prints and patterns to go along with her J. Brand denim shorts.

Her polka-dotted Miu Miu shirt was paired with a navy and white graphic striped Ohne Titel cardigan.

This look is a lot more youthful and playful as evident by the blue headscarf tied into her casual up-do. Small hoop earrings, a mix of rings and Prada platforms completed her look.

There’s really no denying great style and Rihanna has it.

She has an eye for picking the right pieces that fit her tastes and, as showcased by these bi-coastal looks which fit the city she happens to be in.

Chen Ran In MaxMara – Richard Mille Shanghai Store Opening

Asian actress and crowned fashion it-girl Chen Ran has been snapped up by street style blogs for her personal style while attending fashion shows and events worldwide.

She managed to shine the spotlight on her style once again when she attended the Richard Mille store opening ceremony in Shanghai wearing a bold minimalistic look from MaxMara’s Spring 2011 collection.

The bright hued yellow look consists of cropped pants with a slight flare and piping detail paired with a long sleeved iridescent top.

Keeping with the monotone yellow palette, Chen opted for iridescent yellow platform peep-toe heels and a clutch to complete her look.

Borrowing notes from the runway styling, Chen opted for no jewelry in order to stick with the MaxMara minimal aesthetic that was the ever present theme throughout the entire Spring 2011 collection.

It takes a lot of confidence to pull off a monotone look. Style is when you’re completely comfortable in the fashion choices you make and Chen appears 100% confident in this selection.

It’s certainly going to be interesting watching this rising fashion star’s future fashion choices.

Trend Of The Week – Spring Whites

We’ve seen the winter white trend. This week we saw celebrities like Olivia Palermo, Vanessa Hudgens, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robin Penn showcasing Spring white looks.

Leslie Mann kick started the trend in a bohemian Dolce & Gabbana maxi dress.

Robin Wright and Vanessa Hudgens sported sexy masculine white suits whilst Olivia Palermo sparkled like tinker bell on the red carpet in Marchesa.

The LWDs continued with Arielle Kebbel, Eve and Gwyneth Paltrow. Thankfully no one paired their looks with white heels.

Cameron Diaz took a more laidback approach pairing her Theyskens’ Theory jacket with white Vince Denim cropped skinny jeans, proving that a LWD isn’t the only way to achieve a wonderful spring white look. It worked well enough to land her in contention for BDOTW.

White is showing that it’s one of Spring’s major trends.

As each beauty displayed, white can be done in various forms. Glam, minimal or casual; a LWD in the evening is the perfect juxtaposition to its sister LBD this summer. White jeans for a casual stroll or a perfectly tailored pantsuit for a bold head-to-toe look; white is showing its just as hot as colour-blocking.

Just be careful or if you’re clumsy like me, invest in a Tide Bleach Pen.
