Red Carpet Trend: Sexy Cut-Outs

Cut-out dresses have been a consistent trend on the red carpet for a few months, with some of our favorite celebs showcasing their Pilates toned abs in this very creative and uber sexy way.

Halle Berry, Karolina Kurkova and Selena Gomez have been embracing this trend recently, which appears to be a big hit as temperatures begin to warm up.

Halle was the most recent star to bring this trend to the red carpet.

The eternally sexy actress rocked her Halston dress with an asymmetrical cut-out last night, but many of you commented that the look wasn’t quite age appropriate and her modification of the dress was slightly tacky.

Love it or hate it, this trend was made for a body like Halle’s.

Subtle cut-outs have also been featured on dresses worn by Ginnifer Goodwin, Kerry Washington and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

All of these ladies showcased this trend in different ways in long gowns and short dresses; cut-outs are a great way to show a peak of skin and, when done properly gives off maximum sex appeal without being trashy.

This is a great trend to look hot whilst keeping cool. I’m sure we will continue to see more off this trend over the summer.

Trend Of The Week Part 2: Thigh-High Splits

Celebs really enjoyed the second trend of the week as they got to show off their toned legs after months of personal training via their thigh-high splits.

This trend was highly visible at The Met Gala.

Renee Zellweger showcased her super toned legs walking up the Met steps in Carolina Herrera.

Others who also opted to go daring high were Brooklyn Decker in neon pink Michael Kors and Diane Kruger wowed the photographers in Jason Wu.

Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler, Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney and Ashely Olsen in vintage Dior all had sexy side splits on their dresses.

Ginnifer Goodwin’s Topshop Unique split was just above the knee, but Rosie Huntington-Whitely was more daring in Burberry as she flashed skin via her split, her shoulders and the keyhole detail in her dress.

Also this week, Mila Kunis at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner and Lea Michelle at the “Glee” Academy screening, both chose sexy Versace Fall 2011 dresses that feature splits.

Opting for red dress or thigh-high splits make very bold statements and they aren’t for the fashion faint hearted.

Perhaps you’re not quite ready to go as high with your split as Diane or pull off a head-to-toe red look like Dita but these sexy trends can be done subtly and in a way that will have you brimming with confidence as you step out on your own personal red carpet.

Who knows; maybe one day you’ll be ready to pair them together….think Jessica Rabbit.

Trend Of The Week Part 1: Ladies In Red

This week there were two very clear trends and both deserved to be highlighted.

Red was a favorite hue amongst celebs this week beginning at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner where Rosario Dawson and Brooklyn Decker both wore the colour in Escada and Giambattista Valli respectively.

Dita von Teese also chose red in the form of her figure-hugging Roland Mouret dress as she attended a taping of The Wendy Williams Show on Thursday.

Many celebs chose the colour when they attended the Met Gala on Monday beginning with Gisele Bundchen in a stunning strapless Alexander McQueen collection gown and Mary-Kate Olsen in vintage Givenchy Couture.

Others who stood out in the hue at The Met included ‘Glee’ girls Lea Michele in Escada and Dianna Agron in Michael Kors.

Saoirse Ronan also opted for red wearing Rodarte.

Like Gisele, Doutzen Kroes also went for a drama wearing a gorgeous Giambattista Valli gown.

Sidewalk Style: Dita von Teese In Roland Mouret

If there is one celeb we can count on to maintain consistency with her look, it’s the ever glamorous Dita von Teese.

She was spotted leaving The Wendy Williams Show yesterday in New York City looking absolutely gorgeous, and red hot from head-to-toe proving once again that a monotone look can be anything but boring.

The burlesque beauty wore a low-cut curve enhancing red Roland Mouret dress adorned with a crystallized rose broach.

Red heels with a feminine bow detail were her shoe of choice. Jewelry was kept to a minimum as she opted for only a pair of diamond earrings to compliment the beautiful broach. Her look was topped off with tinted sunglasses and her signature red lips and retro wave hairstyle.

Even though this trademark Mouret style of dress has been well worn and copied by many, its vibrant hue coupled with Dita’s obvious appeal she manages to breathe new life into it.

I’ve come to expect nothing less of Dita than a fabulous fitting frock and complete glamour; she certainly doesn’t disappoint here.

She owns her look every time looking absolutely effortless and stunning while doing so.

“Jumping The Broom” LA Premiere

Going through the pictures from the “Jumping The Broom” LA Premiere, I found myself slightly confused.

It appears that some of the attendees were either way too overdressed or just beyond casual and that definitely made for some interesting looks.

Paula Patton: Looking every inch the star of this movie, Paula looked beautiful wearing a Moschino mini with gold embellished details around the neck and hemline. She has great legs and this dress showcases them perfectly. Brian Atwood gold pumps completed her look.

Angela Basset: It’s not her best look, but the colour of her Mandalay chiffon one-shoulder aqua blue dress with jeweled trim is beautiful. I would’ve preferred this look to be a little bit longer.

Eva Marcille: I’m not 100% sold on this look which includes a One by printed dress. I don’t hate it, but I feel like there are too many accessories. She should have left the clutch in the limo.

Sidewalk Style: Rihanna Loves Stella McCartney & Givenchy

While her Met Gala look may have some split, there’s no denying that when it comes to her street style, Rihanna knows exactly what she’s doing.

The star has been spotted on both coasts in the days leading up to and after the Met Gala showcasing a range of looks from her envious collection of designer pieces.

The songstress was seen heading to dinner at Phillipe Chow in New York City wearing a nude Stella McCartney top and pants.

She accessorized with nude Prada platforms. The muted colour palette was off-set not only by her flowing red locks, but also via her large Givenchy Mirte saddle bag. Large hoop earrings and a statement gold necklace finish off this look.

More Stella and Givenchy were on hand for another day out in New York City.

The extremely chic knee-length Stella McCartney sleeveless trench coat features a wide-collar and buckle fastening at the waist but Ri-Ri opted to keep it open to showcase her cropped off-white top and khaki shorts.

Her bag of choice was the Givenchy mini Pandora Messenger. Fendi Liberty cut-out platforms, layered gold necklaces and sunglasses topped off her outfit.

Taking a noticeably more casual and cool approach while on the west coast, Rihanna stepped out of Philippe Chow’s in Hollywood mixing prints and patterns to go along with her J. Brand denim shorts.

Her polka-dotted Miu Miu shirt was paired with a navy and white graphic striped Ohne Titel cardigan.

This look is a lot more youthful and playful as evident by the blue headscarf tied into her casual up-do. Small hoop earrings, a mix of rings and Prada platforms completed her look.

There’s really no denying great style and Rihanna has it.

She has an eye for picking the right pieces that fit her tastes and, as showcased by these bi-coastal looks which fit the city she happens to be in.
