Patricia Arquette In Rosetta Getty – 2015 Oscars

Patricia Arquette In Rosetta Getty - 2015 Oscars

Patricia Arquette walked the red carpet on Sunday (February 22) at the 2015 Oscars, hosted at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

As a nominee for her role in ‘Boyhood’ Patricia wore custom Rosette Getty.

A black-and-white colour combination is always a classic look on the red carpet, and Patricia’s column gown was just that. The black skirt is simple, yet incredibly slimming, and the white one-shouldered top offers a safe amount of glamour with a lovely architectural detail.

This look is simple and straightforward, but it undoubtedly works on Patricia. And I appreciate that she kept her accessories and beauty game clean and classic as well, enabling the focus to stay on her gown.

Rosamund Pike In Christian Dior Couture – 2015 SAG Awards

Rosamund Pike In Christian Dior Couture - 2015 SAG AwardsRosamund Pike was a breath of fresh air at the 2015 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 25) at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium.

The ‘Gone Girl’ nominee wore a confection of a gown by Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture.

The high-low hemline is not often expected at award shows, but Rosamund pulled it off along with being dotted with fluffy architectural floral appliques. A bold dress like this often does not translate from the couture runway to the red carpet, but this dress did and was unlike any other at the award ceremony.

My only wish is that, just like on the runway version of the gown, more of the original sheerness of the gown would have remained. But, otherwise this is a red carpet win in my book.

Rosamund’s simple accessories and jewelry by Fred Leighton, and straightforward beauty choices–a red lip and sculpted, messy waves–were on par with the rest of the look.

Maggie Gyllenhaal In Thakoon – 2015 SAG Awards

Maggie Gyllenhaal attended the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 25) at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium.

Maggie joined many other red carpet beauties by wearing white. Her custom Thakoon gown was glamorous, effortless, and laid-back all at the same time.

The long-sleeved design injected a 70’s vibe into the red carpet, which was unique to all the other gowns. The dress featured a plunging neckline with a sheer panel detail at the bust and soft ruching with a center slit for bonus glamour.

I love that Maggie’s makeup is simple–a bold red lip–which paired well with her gilded box clutch and gold jewels by Bvlgari and Fred Leighton.

Amy Poehler In Jenny Packham – 2015 SAG Awards

Amy Poehler walked the red carpet at Sunday’s (January 25) 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, hosted at the L.A. Shrine Auditorium.

Nominated for her lead role in ‘Parks and Recreation’, Amy wore a gown by Jenny Packham.

The completely beaded navy design looked great on Amy. The silhouette was beautifully simple and the plunging neckline added a hint of sex appeal, but I was underwhelmed by the look. Amy looked stunning, but I’ve seen her look more glamorous, and this did not feel like a eye-catching look for one of the night’s biggest nominees.

In terms of beauty, Amy’s soft waves are laid back and beachy, but I wish something was more bold to offset the safe dress choice. A red lip would have done the trick, I think.

Claire Danes In Marc Jacobs – 2015 SAG Awards

ClaireDanesInMarcJacobs2015SAGAwards

Claire Danes graced the red carpet at Sunday’s (January 25) 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, hosted at the L.A. Shrine Auditorium.

The ‘Homeland’ nominee wore a khaki green gown by Marc Jacobs Spring 2015. I’m a big lover of the cool and contemporary colour.

The gown had several beautifully crafted details, but one too many for my eye. The twisted halter, the keyhole cutout, the waist-cinching belt, and the graphic beading down the entire side of the gown. Each design element so lovely, but too much all together.

Claire amped up the glamour of a potentially causal colour with warm gold earrings and bangles, which was smart. I also love that she matched her eyeline colour to the dress–a dark green for extra edge.

Does this gown have too many details to look at? Or, are you loving the look?

Tatiana Maslany In Oscar de la Renta – 2015 SAG Awards

Tatiana Maslany looked stunning on the red carpet at Sunday’s (January 25) 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards, hosted at the L.A. Shrine Auditorium.

In attendance for a big nomination for her role in ‘Orphan Black’ Tatiana donned a gown by Oscar de la Renta.

The black and white colour combo is alway the epitome of chic and classic, but this gown offered a modern take with origami pleating details and asymmetrical cascading layers of fabric. The deep cut of the neckline also lent the simple silhouette a fresh and subtly sexy allure.

While the actress joked that she forgot to get a manicure in preparation for the event, she did add just a hint of moody glamour to her gown with the addition of a black cocktail ring and black and diamond ear cuffs.

I am in love with this look–it’s the perfect combination of classic beauty and modern edge.
