‘Olympus Has Fallen’ LA Premiere Menswear Round Up

‘Olympus Has Fallen’ LA Premiere Menswear Round Up

On Monday night, the cast of ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ took to the red capret at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, California for the LA premiere. Colour coordinating their looks, each of the four male leads arrived wearing navy suits.

Gerard Butler: After looking dapper in a three-piece suit at the New York premiere, the star of the film opted to put a small twist on a similar look. He stuck with the three-piece Brioni suit, but chose navy and a different type of waistcoat. The waistcoat was double-breasted and featured a shawl collar, while the suit itself was a typical two-button suit with peak lapels. He cleanly finished the look with a white shirt, navy tie, and black lace-up shoes.

Morgan Freeman: The classic actor donned a classic look with a few of his own personal accessories. His navy-notch lapel Brioni suit fit well, though I wish the pants were a bit shorter, and it matched nicely with his widely-knotted yellow tie. To give it his own attitude, Morgan added a pair of sunglasses and his earrings. He is also still forced to wear his white compression glove due to the car accident in 2008.

Aaron Eckhart: The 45-year-old actor, also in a navy two-button suit by BOSS, switched it up by styling his look with brown wingtip shoes instead of black shoes. Aaron looked great in a tailored suit with a white shirt and blue tie.

Rick Yune: In a lighter shade of navy, Rick cleaned up very well in a slim-fit, two-button suit. Along with the suit, he wore a white shirt and a blue tie with diagonal stripes. He also sported matching suede shoes, of which I wasn’t a big fan; that would have been a good place to give a pop of black or brown colour.

I couldn’t believe all four of them wore navy suits. Someone needed to step out of the box here. My favourite look was between Gerard and Rick, but I’m going to go with Rick because Gerard’s waistcoat was too distracting for me.

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ London Premiere Menswear Round Up

GI JOE London premiere menswear

The much-anticipated sequel ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ had its London premiere at Empire Leicester Square on Monday evening.

Channing Tatum: For the carpet, Channing sported a Gucci charcoal notch-lapel Marseille suit with a blue dress shirt. He styled the suit with a blue-and-brown striped tie and black leather lace ups. I loved the tie, but it’s the creased shirt and long pants that bother me. His pants fit well at the Oscars when he wore Gucci last so this is a bit of a let down.

Byung-hun Lee: The South Korean actor ditched the suit and showed up in a cool, casual outfit. It consisted of a black leather motorcycle jacket, black denim pants, and a pair of black leather boots. Underneath the jacket, Byung-hun dressed up his outfit with a white shirt and a black tie. I like the look, and props to Byung-hun for knowing how clothes are meant to fit, but I don’t think it’s completely appropriate for a film premiere.

Dwayne Johnson: Formerly known as The Rock, the professional wrestler turned actor arrived on the carpet looking less than stellar, to put it nicely. His navy three-piece suit looked as if it was straight off the rack. No part of it fits the way it should.

D.J. Cotrona: Looking very dapper in a black notch lapel suit, D.J. donned my favourite look of the four. It’s tailored to perfection and the 32-year-old actor wore it well. He added a white pocket square, a white shirt, and a silver tie. My only gripe with the outfit is that I would have preferred a slimmer tie. Not a skinny tie, but a narrow tie.

Dan Stevens In Calvin Klein – 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards

Dan Stevens In Calvin Klein - 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards

Dan Stevens was in attendance, and looking drastically different, at the 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on Saturday night.

The British actor is known for his character Matthew Crawley on the hit PBS and ITV series ‘Downton Abbey’. His character sported blonde locks, a side part, and a much rounder figure. This weight loss and hairstyle transformation is said to be for a new role.

Looking much more trim, he opted for a Calvin Klein dark grey, one-button suit with notch lapels from the spring 2013 collection designed by Italo Zucchelli. Under the wool suit, Dan wore a black shirt and black skinny tie from the same Calvin Klein collection.

With his new svelte look he nailed the proportions with a thin lapel over the skinny collar and tie.

Do you like this new look or do you think Dan’s Hollywood makeup has gone a step too far?

James Franco In Gucci – The Tonight Show with Jay Leno & ‘Spring Breakers’ LA Premiere

James Franco In Gucci

To support his new films ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’ and ‘Spring Breakers,’ actor James Franco made two suited-up appearances on Thursday in California.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: Early in the evening, James was at the NBC Studio in Burbank, California making a guest appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.’ For this he wore a Gucci black signoria suit with notch lapels. James opted for a black-on-black look with his shirt and leather lace-up shoes. It wasn’t completely black, however, as he went with a navy tie to finish it off.

‘Spring Breakers’ LA Premiere: He later headed to Hollywood for the ‘Spring Breakers’ premiere. Sticking with Gucci, as always, James sported a navy, peak lapel signoria suit with a pale blue shirt underneath. To style the suit he wore a blue tie and black shoes.

James cleaned up well at both events. Both suits fit nicely and he didn’t choose to go with the short pants like he did in Hollywood last week. I liked both looks but my favourite was the black-on-black because I preferred the fit of the blazer.

Which would you like to see up for BDOTW?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Prada – ‘Don Jon’ 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival Premiere

Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Prada - 'Don Jon' 2013 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival Premiere

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in Austin, Texas, on Monday to present a screening of his new film ‘Don Jon,’ which he directed, wrote, and starred in. The screening was a part of the 2013 SXSW Film, Interactive, Music Festival held at the Paramount Theatre.

To present his film, Joseph arrived clad in Prada from the Spring 2013 collection.

He wore a Prada baltico blue, kid mohair suit that fit him perfectly. His two-button suit was styled with a white, poplin twill shirt and a navy microdot silk tie, both of which were Prada.

He has shown time and again, including at the Oscars, that he knows how his suits should fit. And I love that he always fashionably supports his open-collaborative production company hitRECord with that red lapel pin.

‘Don Jon,’ (formerly titled Don Jon’s Addiction) which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Tony Danza, will be out sometime in the summer.

Gerard Butler In Z Zegna – ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ New York Premiere

Gerard Butler In Z Zegna - ‘Olympus Has Fallen' New York Premiere

Gerard Butler returned to the spotlight on Monday in New York City when The Cinema Society with Roger Dubuis and Grey Goose hosted a screening of his new action film, ‘Olympus Has Fallen.’

In a Z Zegna three-piece, grey glen-plaid suit, the Scottish actor looked rather sharp.

He matched his wool, peak-lapel suit with a classic white shirt and a pair of black lace-up shoes. The look was completed with a Roger Dubuis timepiece.

I loved every part of this outfit. He nailed the look, and going without a tie was a great way to dress down his suit.

On March 22, Gerard will be seen in ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ alongside costars Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman.

Nicolas Cage In Ferragamo & Ryan Reynolds In GANT Rugger – ‘The Croods’ New York Premiere

Nicolas Cage In Ferragamo & Ryan Reynolds In GANT Rugger - 'The Croods' New York Premiere

Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds joined Emma Stone and Blake Lively on the red carpet on Sunday afternoon at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 Theater in New York City for the premiere of ‘The Croods’. They both wore navy, but rocked two very different looks.

Nicolas Cage: Wearing a Ferragamo peak-lapel suit boded well for the 49-year-old actor. It featured two buttons – which shouldn’t both be buttoned – to which he added a simple white shirt. A pair of black lace-ups finished off the look. Nicolas kept it simple, which was smart. The suit fit him well and the trouser length was perfect. We have taken issue with several other actors in recent weeks wearing suits with pants that were way too long.

Ryan Reynolds: Ryan dressed down for the premiere, looking casual in Gant Rugger. His outfit, from the top down, consisted of a well-fitted three-button navy jacket over a deep-neck navy sweater with a shawl collar and slim-fit navy pinstripe pants. To break up the deep-blue hues, Ryan opted for a white crewneck shirt underneath his sweater and a pair of brown leather lace-ups. I liked the look because everything fit very nicely, but it may have been a bit too casual, even for a premiere for an animated movie. A suit sans tie probably would have made a better impression. Never thought I’d say this, but I wish Ryan had taken a tip from Nicolas Cage. Weird, I know.

All in all, both actors looked good. Their film ‘The Croods’ is set for release on March 22 in the US.

Jude Law: In mid-February at the ‘Side Effects’ Berlin photocall, Jude wore a red v-neck shirt under his Prada double-breasted suit. At the film’s Paris premiere at UGC Cine Cite des Halles on Thursday, he attempted, and failed at, a similar look; the star of the film arrived in a Prada navy double-breasted suit over a charcoal v-neck shirt. The jacket looked nice and the v-neck worked, but his baggy pants ruined it all.

Leonardo DiCaprio: At the Seoul, South Korea premiere of ‘Django Unchained’ on Thursday, Leo sported a Tom Ford navy three-piece suit with wide peak lapels and a matching navy tie. This look had everything going for it, except proper tailoring. Not only did his jacket need to be nipped in at the sides to give him more of a V shape, his pants were rather baggy. So close, but yet so far.

Adrien Brody: In the most dapper look of the week, Adrien was in attendance for Carine Roitfeld’s ‘CR Fashion Book Issue 2′ cocktail party as part of Paris Fashion Week at Hotel Shangri-La on Tuesday. The actor arrived wearing a well-tailored Margiela black shawl-lapel suit along with a white shirt and black ankle boots, both of which were also Margiela. He styled his look nicely with a black bow tie and a black-faced watch.

James Franco In Gucci – Hollywood Walk of Fame Unveiling

James Franco In Gucci - Hollywood Walk of Fame Unveiling

James Franco was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday afternoon in California.

The star of ‘Oz: the Great and Powerful’ looked incredibly handsome in a Gucci Resort 2013 cornflower-blue suit.

The blue colour combination was perfectly executed and the entire suit was nicely tailored.

James wisely opted to have his pants cut short to accentuate his Gucci brown loafers.

He has been seen in a Gucci suit at least three times since mid-February most notably at the LA premiere, the Japan premiere and the Moscow premiere.

The actor joins Ryan Gosling and Robert Pattinson in going gaga for Gucci.
