Carly Rae Jepsen In Rachel Zoe – 2012 Billboard Women in Music Luncheon

Carly Rae Jepsen zipped into a sparkly blue Rachel Zoe frock for Billboard’s Women in Music Luncheon on Friday.

The playful design from the stylist-turned reality star-turned designer’s Resort 2013 collection looked pitch-perfect on Carly, though I can’t say the same about her oversize DVF clutch and matte-mauve lipstick.

For a rock’n’roll industry event such as this, Carly could’ve gone edgier by subbing in sleeker accessories: a leather cuff in lieu of that forgettable bracelet, a pair of noirish single-sole Alexander Wang slingbacks over those Brian Atwood covered-platform clunkers, and topped it off with her dark tresses pulled back into a low ponytail.

Angelababy In Balenciaga – 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards

For the Mnet Asian Music Awards on Friday, Hong Kong model/actress Angelababy stepped out in one of recently departed Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s sculpted looks for spring.

The futuristic-flamenco skirt and bell-sleeved crop top were a bold pick for the performer, who would’ve done right by Ghesquière’s rigorous design by sticking to the austere styling presented on the runway.

While Angelababy’s gold heels and tribal Pamela Love turquoise bib necklace made for creative additions, the latter’s Pamela Love cuff counterpart took geometry a shape too far.

Further damage was done by incongruous drop earrings, another superfluous bracelet, and pageant queen two-tone locks.

I’d be eager to see a do-over of the avant ensemble on a Balenciaga devotee such as Jennifer Connelly or Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Helen Hunt In Amen Couture – Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 4th Annual Governors Awards

Helen Hunt dazzled on the red carpet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards on Friday evening.

The Oscar-winning actress, who has been getting awards buzz for her part as a sympathetic sex therapist in ‘The Sessions’, appeared totally at ease wearing a sleeveless Amen Couture look that flaunted her toned arms and flawless skin.

Her nude embellished gown was accessorized with a smattering of thin Martin Katz bangles, a shimmering clutch, and thin dangle earrings were right on the mark and played off the dress’s baroque beading beautifully.

Is this a BDOTW contender?

Amy Adams In Jenny Packham – Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ 4th Annual Governors Awards

Amy Adams joined Kristen Stewart on the red carpet at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards on Saturday.

The actress chose a plunging double V-neck dress from Jenny Packham’s Fall 2012 collection.

We’ll be seeing a lot more of the three-time Oscar nominee during the coming awards season for her performance in ‘The Master’, and this belted column was a savvy choice for Amy, whose complexion is nicely complemented by the fabric’s metallic tones.

The Grecian draping of Packham’s festive design is universally flattering and versatile—the kind of dress that would work equally well at a December wedding or a black-tie New Year’s bash.

Salma Hayek In Gucci – 2012 Acapulco International Film Festival

Salma Hayek was glowing on the red carpet at the Acalpulco Film Festival in her native Mexico on Friday.

The actress wore a custom rose-colored Gucci gown which looks to be inspired by the Resort 2013 collection.

Soft bangs and orchid-pink lips added a romanticism to the cleavage-baring dress, which would’ve been tricky to pull off by an equally curvaceous woman without Salma’s signature charm.

She perfected the look by keeping it simple: a gold clutch that picked up on the opalescent beading at her waist, a barely-there manicure, and personal jewelry including her wedding ring.

Katy Perry In Oscar de la Renta – 2012 Billboard Women in Music Luncheon

Billboard ‘Woman of the Year’ honoree Katy Perry attended the annual event held at Capitale in New York City on Friday afternoon.

The singer went all-American with a ruffled persimmon Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013 dress.

Despite an ‘A’ for effort, Katy couldn’t create fireworks with this over-accessorized attempt at uptown elegance, made all the more matronly with her stiff-looking news anchor coiffe.

Had Katy loosened the bun, lost the belt, and swapped the bedazzled Oscar de la Renta peep-toe pumps for a pair of sexy strappy sandals, she could’ve easily transformed this look from dowdy to dreamy.
