Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Kerry Washington woke up early Wednesday morning to speak at the The Hollywood Reporter’s annual ‘Power 100: Women in Entertainment’ breakfast held at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The actress who stars in Quentin Tarantino’s forthcoming ‘Django Unchained’, opted for a charcoal flutter-sleeved frock from Carven’s Spring 2013 collection.

Naturally, Kerry’s sartorial compass—which typically points toward ladylike—directed her to the Hitchcock heroine dress.

Its whimsical Art Nouveau cutouts at the décolletage added visual interest, and the nipped waist and tea-length skirt were well proportioned for the petite actress’s 5’4” frame.

As for accessories, matchy-matchy red pumps and a red Kate Spade New York clutch completed her look. Was Kerry thinking outside the box with her choice of accessories?

Samantha Barks had bulbs flashing at ‘Les Miserables’ world premiere Leicester Square’s Odeon theatre in London on Wednesday evening.

In a carpet-dusting custom made midnight blue Stella McCartney gown, Samantha has come a long way from her I’d Do Anything reality show days. Clearly the new Éponine is a fan of the sheer-paneled cutout as evidenced by a similar look she modeled at the Hollywood Films Awards in October.

For a Hollywood newbie prone to committing freshman fashion faux pas, this perfectly tasteful gown, simple updo, and subtle jewelry is fine. But “fine” isn’t what a triple-threat ingénue is after when she’s just trying to make a name for herself in starlet-saturated Tinseltown.

And the fact remains: if you even think WHMWT (Would Helen Mirren Wear This?), that’s a sure sign it’s too old.

Sorry, Sam, but the fancy grandma beading really only belongs on une femme d’un certain âge.

Kim Hyo Jin looked amazing when she took to the red carpet at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong on Friday.

She floored us wearing a cherry-red Michael KorsFall 2012 long-sleeved beaded look gown.

The intensity of the single-colour dress was broken up by its textured beading and the variations of pleating and draping from neck to waist to knee.

Kim Hyo Jin’s black satin minaudière and tiny diamond studs were all this South Korean actress needed to make the look utterly ravishing.

You may remember that Natasha Yarovenko wore this same gown to the ‘Skyfall’ Madrid premiere last back in October.

Jessica Biel gushed about her recent nuptials to longtime partner Justin Timberlake on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday.

The actress kept it informal for the daytime talk show, wearing separates from Wes Gordon’s Fall 2012 collection.

Dressed in an amethyst sweater and patterned skirt, she extended the purple theme to her nails.

I liked the free-spiritedness of leaving her wavy hair down, though I’d like to see Jessica finally grow out that fringe.

When she first walked out on stage, we also caught a glimpse of her black Rupert Sanderson vertiginous ‘Elba’ pumps.

Leslie Mann attended Saturday’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards, which was also attended by Kristen Stewart and Amy Adams.

The actress chose a sheer black Fall 2012 Emilio Pucci dress.

She appeared more chic than I can recall in recent memory—perhaps with age comes style know-how (not to mention incredibly dewy skin) for the ‘This Is 40′ star.

Thankfully, she kept her Rupert Sanderson shoes, bag, and jewelry minimal, and I appreciate that Leslie opted for bronze and gold tones rather than sticking with more black. But let’s face it: this isn’t about anything but that dress.

Here, Pucci’s Peter Dundas has reminded us that the fabled Italian house can do more than retro prints—and that its current creative director is a master pattern-cutter who knows how to perfectly dress the female form.

Cheryl Cole and Isabella Ferrari have both worn this same dress in blush-pink.
