Look We Love: Dita Von Teese’s 40s Style Face

Loyalty is not a characteristic we’d typically associate with any Hollywood starlet, but Dita Von Teese very well may be the exception. Best known for her retro sense of style, her virtually microscopic 16-inch corseted waist, and her cheeky burlesque routines, this model-actress may no longer be married to goth rocker Marilyn Manson, but she is, however, married to her makeup. (And has been for the past 20+ years!)

On the red carpet or off to run personal errands, Von Teese is unwavering when it comes to primping her exquisite face. Porcelain skin paired with fluffy lashes and a sharp scarlet smile makes for one modern-vintage look. The key to mastering Dita’s pin-up bombshell face? These three words: All matte everything. (Translation: Not a slick of shine anywhere!) Learn more of her tips and tricks in her new DIY-beauty book, scheduled to be released later this year.

Look à la Mode: Bang On Trend

Remember back in the 80s when fringe was full and fluffy?

Thank goodness bangs have gotten much sexier over the years.

Instead of being barrel-curled, stacked way too high, and drenched in AquaNet, face-framing fringe today is sleek, chic, and the easiest way to shake up your strands and transform your tresses.

Whether blunt and piece-y like Michelle Monaghan’s, or choppy and wispy like Lake Bell’s, bangs are girlish yet grown, sophisticated yet sultry, modish yet mysterious, and rakish yet rock n’ roll.

Inspired yet?

Go faux first—try Hairdo by Ken Paves and Jessica Simpson Clip-in Bangs, $29 at Ulta.com.

That way you can enjoy the fringe benefits with none of the commitment.

Look à la Mode: Red Hot Lips

Two blondes, one look.

It’s official—matte red lipstick is having a moment.

Recently spotted on sexy songstress Kylie Minogue and ‘Gossip Girl’ goddess Blake Lively, it looks as if our favorite stars are forgoing the gloss in favor of a more softened scarlet smile.

And we can certainly see why—it’s vampy, not trampy, and beautiful, yet badass.

Loving the look?

Know this: If your complexion is fair like Minogue’s, a bright orange-red will stand out. (Try TopShop Lips in Infrared, $16 at Topshop US and £8 at Topshop International).

If your skin is tan like Lively’s, try a true red with blue undertones. (Try like Lancôme’s Color Design Sensational Effects Matte Lipcolor in Red Haute, $22 at Lancôme-USA.com).

Look We Love: Picture-Perfect Like Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is one haute mama. (It must be the German genes.) The 37-year old supermodel/mother-of-four always looks rather ravishing and runway-ready—every time we see her, her lashes are abundant, her cheeks are full, her eyes are bright, and her wrinkles are slight. Here’s everything you need to emulate her pretty-in-pink, soft but sexy look, that’s perfect for day or night.

Beauty School: Your Radiant Skin Rx

Mischa Barton doesn’t come out much to mix and mingle, but when she does show up, she still manages to command attention. The 25 year-old model/actress recently surfaced at the opening of Vivenne Westwood’s Los Angeles boutique, and while her tresses are tattered and her metallic frock is quite questionable, her skin happens to be the real star here. She hasn’t looked this healthy and youthful since her days as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. (Not sure what’s she doing, but she should absolutely keep it up!)

For a luminous, youthful dermis, always abide by the following five: 1) Wash your face twice a day, and never slumber in your slap; 2) It’s never too early to start anti-aging; 3) A weekly exfoliating mask can help keep your complexion completely clear; 4) A good moisturizer is your first defense against premature wrinkles; and 5) Don’t forget about your lips! Below, a few of our favorites—and your new clear skin Rx.
