L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic Collection Launch Party

L'Wren Scott for Banana Republic Collection Launch Party

To celebrate the launch of its latest collaboration, Banana Republic hosted a star-studded party at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles, California yesterday evening.

The mass retailer teamed up with designer L’Wren Scott on a limited-edition, 50-piece capsule collection. With holiday in mind, the lineup not only reflects Scott’s eye for tailoring and colorful prints, but it also features a bit more seasonally-appropriate sparkle and shine too. Notably, sequin-encrusted cardigans, lace and metallic cocktails dresses, faux-fur accented pieces, and a beaded lipstick-print foldover clutch. This may just be Banana Republic’s most glamorous collaboration yet, and for Scott, it’s her first stint working with a major global retailer.

Jessica Paré: The ‘Mad Men’ actress wore a L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic lips-print blouse tucked into a L’Wren Scott garnet red crepe pencil skirt with gold lacquer buttons, which she styled with a matching red sequin cardigan, red lipstick, and a black pumps. The cardigan was a distracting touch, but nonetheless, one that goes away as soon as it’s taken off.

Christina Hendricks: Following Jessica’s lead, the fellow ‘Mad Men’ star also donned the L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic red sequin cardigan over a L’Wren Scott black signature pencil skirt with gold stitching details and one of the collaboration’s peony-printed blouses. She accessorized with yellow metallic pumps, a black Oroton box clutch, and soft rosy makeup.

L’Wren Scott: The designer wore a black velvet and jersey lacquer button skirt with a coordinating black jet-and-thread embroidered cardigan from her main label, but didn’t stop there. To inject a burst of colour and texture, she styled the pieces with a L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic peony-printed chiffon blouse, velvet bow jacket, and royal blue velvet bow heels.

Of the three beauties dressed in L’Wren Scott for Banana Republic, whose styling do you prefer best?

Juana Acosta In Zuhair Murad – GQ Men Of The Year Award 2013

Juana Acosta In Zuhair Murad - GQ Men Of The Year Award 2013

Juana Acosta stepped out for the GQ Men of the Year Award in Madrid, Spain last night.

The actress sizzled in a Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2013 creation, which consisted of a long-sleeved, semi-sheer, embroidered bodice giving way to a slinky black floor-length skirt.

The “dark mermaid” effect was only furthered by her sequined clutch, Rita Hayworth-worthy waves, and sultry eye makeup — a subtle trifecta of accents that did nothing short of the obvious: evoke serious glamour.

It’s sexy without showing much at all. What do you think of her look?

Jenna Coleman In Mulberry – ‘Doctor Who’ 50th Anniversary Celebration

Jenna Coleman In Mulberry - 'Doctor Who' 50th Anniversary Celebration

Jenna Coleman attended the ‘Doctor Who’ 50th anniversary celebration at Buckingham Palace in London yesterday.

The British star looked fresh as a daisy (pun intended) in her pink, floral-printed Mulberry Spring 2014 shirt dress and oxblood-coloured Mulberry Fall 2013 single-breasted coat pairing.

Normally, I would think her cutout booties were too heavy considering everything above the ankle, but it works here. She managed to inject just the slightest hint of edge into an otherwise playful look.

Soft makeup and loose waves were the final touch.

What do you think?

Zendaya Coleman in Chloé – ‘Black Nativity’ New York Premiere

Zendaya Coleman in Chloé - 'Black Nativity' New York Premiere

Zendaya Coleman attended the ‘Black Nativity’ premiere at the Apollo Theater in New York City yesterday evening.

While I was fan of her last look, this one doesn’t quite do it for me.

She wore a black, sleeveless turtleneck crop top with a white polka-dot tulle skirt from Chloé Fall 2013, which she styled with a Veinarde biker jacket and turquoise Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ patent pumps.

As you may remember, this skirt has been previously worn by both Olivia Palermo and Zhang Ziyi, and not with much positive review.

On Zendaya, it seems like the styling was supposed to be a play on sweet versus tough, but it comes off as a bit too contrived and clunky instead. Perhaps a shorter jacket length and sandal would have lent some lightness to the look.

What do you think — did she wear this Chloé skirt better than Olivia Palermo and Zhang Ziyi, or should this article of clothing be retired once and for all?

Menswear Red Carpet Weekend Roundup

Menswear round up

From London to Los Angeles, here’s a look at the men who made an impression over the weekend.

Dan Stevens: The British actor stepped out at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards on Sunday night, wearing a dashing black Burberry tux and bow tie. It doesn’t get much more dashing than that.

Andrew Garfield: The actor attended the ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ photocall at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver Studios on Saturday alongside Emma Stone. Like his lovely costar, he also showed Band of Outsiders some love, wearing one of the label’s khaki-coloured jackets. He paired his casual outerwear choice with a blue-and-red plaid shirt, dark denim, and black loafers.

Brad Pitt: The actor wore a black tux and matching bow tie by Saint Laurent, joining his wife-to-be Angelina Jolie and their son Maddox on the red carpet at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governors Awards on Saturday evening.
