Emilia Clarke In Donna Karan Atelier – 2015 SAG Awards

Emilia Clarke In Donna Karan Atelier - 2015 SAG Awards

Emilia Clarke attended the 2015 SAG Awards held on Sunday evening (January 25) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress, nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, wore a navy and black double jersey column gown from Donna Karan Atelier. She accessorized with Cartier jewels including a mind-blowing, diamond encrusted panther cuff and drop earrings.

Emilia is so gorgeous that I always look forward to seeing her on red carpets but found myself underwhelmed in this case. The bands across the bust fit awkwardly and her hair looked limp and unstyled. I was expecting more!

On the plus side, the cape detail on the back that descended into a train was absolutely stunning and added some Hollywood glamour to an otherwise simple dress.

Sarah Hyland In Vera Wang – 2015 SAG Awards

Sarah Hyland In Vera Wang - 2015 SAG Awards

Sarah Hyland attended the 2015 SAG Awards held on Sunday evening (January 25) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Modern Family’ actress, who is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, wore a custom, black and nude silk gown featuring a sheer tulle overlay and jeweled bodice from Vera Wang. She added extra sparkle with Lorraine Schwartz rings and earrings and finished the look off with Brian Atwood shoes.

After years of hit or miss red carpet looks, Sarah seems to have finally hit her sartorial stride this awards season. The bodice on this dress looks exceptional on her petite frame and its Y-back strap detail is a sporty detail that keeps the look young and fresh.

Bonus points for pulling her hair up and not distracting from the dress.

Adriana Lima In Haute Hippie & Gabriela Cadena – Victoria’s Secret Hosts Russell James’ ‘Angel’ Book Launch

Adriana Lima In Haute Hippie & Gabriela Cadena - Victoria's Secret Hosts Russell James' 'Angel' Book Launch

Adriana Lima was among the models at Russell James’ “Angel” book launch, hosted by Victoria’s Secret on Wednesday (September 10) in New York City, where she joined Lily Aldridge and Karolina Kurkova.

Cutting an effortlessly sexy profile, the Brazilian bombshell donned a Haute Hippie Resort 2015 black two-strap, cowl-neck camisole paired with a dramatic Gabriela Cadena orchid-print, hand-pleated silk-chiffon skirt.

The rich vibrancy of the colours in the skirt was positively electric. She echoed the blue hue with gemstone earrings, finishing the ensemble with the sleek polish of her centre-parted ponytail.

This is the perfect example of how a loose, breezy silhouette can be as impactful and sultry as any body-con look.

Sally Hawkins In Valentino – Oscars 2014

Sally Hawkins took to the red carpet on Sunday, March 2 in Los Angeles for the 2014 Oscars.

The Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominee for ‘Blue Jasmine’, was one of the many stars who opted for a pale, embroidered dress, in this case Valentino Couture Fall 2013.

The workmanship on this dress is just incredible from the cream and gold embroidery to the pearl waist detail. It’s a true work of art. However, the dress overwhelms Sally’s petite figure. It appears to have not been altered to her frame properly when compared to the runway image. The dress is too long in both the sleeves and hem and the waist is sitting too low.

With a high-necked dress this ornate I generally like to see hair swept up but that bothers me far less than the fact that it’s simply too big. On a taller actress this could have been a winner.

Kate Hudson In Atelier Versace – Oscars 2014

Kate Hudson absolutely shut it down at the 2014 Oscars in Los Angeles tonight (March 2).

Wow wow wow. The ‘Wish I Was Here’ actress, who is presenting this evening, was pure perfection in an Atelier Versace Spring 2014 gown and Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ Sandal. Best dressed nominee hands down.

Where to begin on all the amazing things happening with this dress? The train, the woven detailing on the waist, the beading and the deep plunge are all right on point. But it’s the shoulder pads and cape detail that make it pure magic.

With so much drama in the dress, she limited herself to a few delicate pieces of diamond jewelry and an art deco-inspired clutch.

The look oozed old school glamour without looking old fashioned. I’ll be shocked if this isn’t on every best-dressed list.

Elsa Pataky In Elie Saab – Oscars 2014

A very pregnant Elsa Pataky was glowing at the 2014 Oscars on Sunday, March 2 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

The actress and model, who is roughly seven months into carrying Chris Hemsworth’s twins, wore a sparkling Elie Saab number with earrings by Graziela Gems and a bracelet by Dana Rebecca Designs.

This was a less common silhouette than we see on most pregnant stars who generally either loosely drape the baby bump, often with an empire waistline, or go with a fitted sheath. Elsa’s drop waist gives the gown a cool, bohemian vibe but it hides her bustline making the shape feel a bit off.

Relaxed hair and make-up complement the feel of the dress and the earrings are a perfect accent but I struggle to fully embrace the dress without some definition under the bust.

How do you feel about this silhouette?
