6th Annual AACTA International Awards

The 6th annual AACTA International Awards were hosted at Avalon Hollywood on January 6, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. The AACTAs recognise and honour outstanding achievement in the Australian film and television industry, so it is no surprise that a few Aussie beauties took to the red carpet for the event.

Nicole Kidman: The statuesque actress wore a Rochas Spring 2017 tea-length dress. I love how she breathed some life into the moodier dress, bringing out the pink waistband with her vibrant lip colour. The main issue I take with the look is in the bodice area, as it appears as if she has a ribbon of tulle wrapped around her waist in cummerbund form thus cutting off her chest.

Isla Fisher: Another auburn-haired Aussie beauty, Isla Fisher lit up the red carpet with an incredibly sunny Monique Lhuillier golden-yellow gown featuring Asian-influenced, lacy floral embroidery. I applaud her attempt to bring a ray of sunshine to the proceedings, however, I found the look to sadly be on the more dated side. Add to it the pair of rather unfortunate platform sandals that occasionally peeked through the too-long gown, and I wanted to shield my eyes from the glare.

Emma Stone: Managing to effectively toe the line between adorable and badass, the ‘La La Land’ actress wore a Gucci dress that took the idea of the LBD to another level. The silhouette of the tiered ruffle frock may have been sweet, but the cage shoulder detail and the embellished bow and collar had just the right amount of rebellious edge to ensure a dramatic and not-too-dainty finish.

We’re Back

On the 31st December 2015, I thought I’d written my last post for Red Carpet Fashion Awards. Turns out I just needed a much deserved break to recharge and refocus.

Thanks to those who gently nudged and encouraged me to reopen the site. I’m honoured you still rank RCFA so highly.

The site is still being worked on in the background, so bare with us while we make changes to ensure you have the best user experience possible.

We will be posting most of the looks from the past 3 weeks – some out of sequence. It may not be until Monday until we are fully up-to-date.

Please don’t be shy to comment and share with your friends that RCFA is back open.

As always, the Oscars, Met Gala, Venice, Toronto and Cannes Film Festival are much anticipated, so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Thank You And Goodbye

When I first started Red Carpet Fashion Awards back in February of 2007, it was just a hobby.

Little did I know that 8 years later it would enable me to have so many life-changing experiences and bring so many amazing people in my life.

I took awhile to think about it, and without getting into too much detail, I have decided that this will be my last post on the site.

I want to personally thank the millions of readers who helped grow Red Carpet Fashion Awards. Without your support none of this would have been possible.

I would like to say how much I appreciate all the positive comments and emails of encouragement. During moments of exhaustion or sadness they always gave me a huge lift.

I know many of you will be upset about the site closing, but I hope you will appreciate the hard work I have put into this site (for the most part) on my own and without investment – which hasn’t been easy.

When people assumed that this site was run by a team of people, I saw it as a compliment, but after time I realised that it was perhaps an indication that I was doing way too much.

I would like to thank Lucy Dachtler, Net-A-Porter.com, Film Fashion, Sasha Charnin Morrison and Becki Newton who in the very early days made me realise how special this site was.

I would also like to thank all the contributors to this site. Their hard work and efficiency will be appreciated by anyone who has ever read this blog. But I will reserve my up-most thanks and sincere gratitude to Rachel Watkins who was always there when I was still on my computer at 9pm (or even 1am) to take over when I was exhausted after a 12 + hour day.

I have to give a huge shout out to Jason Rembert who is a true gentleman and never held my criticisms of Rita Ora’s looks against me and Prada/Miu Miu who never blacklisted me from their events despite my less than favourable reviews of their red carpet gowns.

Thanks again for your support of Red Carpet Fashion Awards. It has truly been an amazing ride.
