Anne Hathaway In Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture – ‘Ocean’s 8’ World Premiere

When I first saw Anne Hathaway on the red carpet for the ‘Ocean’s 8’ world premiere in New York City last night (June 6), my first thought was “keep an open mind”.

I mean we all groaned when Taylor Swift returned to the spotlight in the same old, same old.

So we should embrace Anne for stepping waaaaayyyy outside her comfort-zone in this Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 Haute Couture gown.

The zebra and geometric print look grew on me once my mind got over the shock that this wasn’t one of her expected Valentino or Prada gowns.

I really admire Anne for being so bold, but I do wish she had put on her highest platforms with this look.

Thoughts?

Wow is all I can say. She’s so beautiful.

LOVE. EVERYTHING. ABOUT. THIS. Look how the white halter makes her long neck longer.

LOVE. She looks so fresh & fierce! xx

(US reader here) I really enjoy this look. The print is fabulous, and the pops of yellow and bronze really bring everything together.

I really like this. It’s so interesting and cool and still feminine. Good for her for trying something different too.

I like some elements of the looks, other less. Overall she looks fine and it’s different. I always say I want something new. Well Anne delivered

I think it’s worth a mention that she’s being styled by Law Roach now. So we can expect a lot more edgy looks from Anne!

I really like the detail and risk here.

I do like the runway bodice detail but I think this premiere wasn’t about being OTT. With this and Khadja and Araya at Cannes I’m starting to enjoy JPG again.

I don’t mind this at all. She managed to make it her own and the styling is flawless imo.

I think she looks great! I looked closely at the bodice…the gathers under the white piece are part of the design…the white part of the bodice and neck piece fit just fine. I actually like the contrast…it brings light to her face. The skirt is busy enough without the addition of the embellishments in the runway version. I do agree that it is a bit too long.

I love this. It’s different and I love the earthy tones. She is so so gorgeous. I love her makeup.

It’s interesting for sure. I’m not 100% sure, but I am intrigued.

I wish she had kept the bodice the same as the runway version, the modification looks like an afterthought.

It doesn’t fit very well and looks saggy around the chest. Quite unflattering.
I applaud her for stepping out of her comfort zone, but at least do it impeccably.

it sits kind of strange at her bust, but apart feom that it is a very strong, bold and suprising good look for her. It certainly helps that the jewellery, bag and head styling are absolutely spot-on. 🙂

I like this alot. Its just so refreshing for her. Its something different, the earthy colors look great on her, and she seems so comfy in it.

I know that runway presentation is one thing and red carpet is another, generally more diluted but I am still missing the ornamentation at the bodice and neck. Thanks God she didn’t show up as the usual princess she has a tendency to go for.

    • AnderBoBo June 6, 2018 at 11:23 #

I agree, I think this would have been more successful with the neck/bust details as seen on the runway.

    • Maria F. June 6, 2018 at 11:36 #

i agree. She kinda pulls it off though.

I agree with Catherine that it is a couple of inches too long.

Hair and make up are great which helps to sell this.

Surprisingly, I don’t hate this at all.

    • Catherine Kallon June 6, 2018 at 10:05 #

It’s a grower that’s for sure. I’m keen to read other comments once the US readers tune in

      • Alina June 6, 2018 at 10:30 #

Me too! It has a retro vibe, if you ask me. Makeup, hair and accessories are spot on and she seems to enjoy it as well.
