Kering x Cannes Dinner Red Carpet Roundup

Black appeared to be the favourite colour of the evening at the Kering x Cannes dinner during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (May 13). Celebrities joined Cate Blanchett, Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart.

Salma Hayek Pinault: She didn’t get the black memo. Instead, she had a captivating moment in custom Gucci. It has a whimsical feel with the lace accents and accessories, but it still has an alluring finish. It would have been just as magical without the necklace.

Li Yuchun: Another one who plays by her own rule book, the singer demonstrated her sartorial skills in Gucci. The cognac trousers were a departure from her typical tailored black, but they offered a fresh take against the prim jacket and collared shirt.

Lea Seydoux: Many won’t be surprised to see her in Louis Vuitton as she has worn the designer to the festival thus far. With the open collared neckline and mini length, the embellished frock was reminiscent of the one she wore to the ‘Cold War (Zimna Wojna)’ premiere.

Isabelle Huppert: The actress looked decades younger than her 65 years in Saint Laurent. The rich blue velvet played off the black tones and brought out her hair colour. It was the embodiment of French style as it was cool and sensual, but not overdone.

Charlotte Casiraghi: In Saint Laurent, she contrasted the flowing gathers of her maxi dress with a sharp-shouldered blazer elegantly draped over her shoulders. The faintest sprinkle of embellishment gave the gown a night’s sky quality.

Clémence Poésy: Another beauty in Saint Laurent, she showed off the brand’s mastery of tailoring with sleek suiting. The lace-trimmed camisole added sensual allure against the inky separates. It’s chic and not try hardy. Alas, it’s not memorable.

Catherine Deneuve: Her brunette locks were a change, but it’s her dramatic Saint Laurent dress that steals the show with its furry trim and sequined fabric. It’s a lot of look so the black colour palette was a wise choice. I’m in awe of how the off-the-shoulder style is staying up.

Laetitia Casta: Rounding out the inky Saint Laurent looks, the model-actress showed some leg in a Grecian gown. The slitted skirt echoes the draping on the shoulder for a harmonious regal finish.
