Marion Cotillard In Chanel Haute Couture – ‘Sink Or Swim (Le Grand Bain)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

For her fourth look of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Marion Cotillard continued to keep us on our toes with her range of looks at the ‘Sink Or Swim (Le Grand Bain)’ premiere on Sunday (May 13), where she joined Isabelle Huppert, Jane Fonda, and Araya A. Hargate.

Looking to the Chanel Fall 2014 Haute Couture for inspiration, she offered a darling sense of prim Parisian charm in this bow-accented, tiered frock which was obviously modified and lengthened out of appropriateness for the setting.

Some might still say this dress, styled with Chopard jewels, was too understated for the likes of Cannes.

However, Marion did look lovely, carrying it all off with an unpretentious chicness.

I do question the gold sandals and the hot-orange manicure, as they didn’t marry as seamlessly into the rest of the aesthetic.

If they were to lengthen the dress, keep adding the tiers.

Ever since her cooperation with Dior came to an end, her red carpet appearances have been so confusing. It’s like she has a team of stylists who cannot agree on how her outfits should look like.
However, this Chanel look is slightly improved than her previous appearances during the festival.

She should have worn the runway version or a long dress from the collection.
    She doesn’t look polished…
Is she working with a stylist?

i agree. It all ends up looking sloppy.

She just does not seem to have a distinct personal style any more. All her looks for Cannes were all over the place.

No. The dress does nothing for her.

Not really liking this dress. And def do not like those shoes with it.

All of her looks have so far been confusing. I love and respect that she is willing to experiment, I just wish that she does that with nice and beautiful clothes. I can’t say that I liked any of her outfits this year.

    Get those roots sorted!

This is quite unflattering on Marion. The whole point of this design is to create an exaggerated waist silhouette. The modifications are awful and make this blah and to top it off the whole thing looks from the rear like a starter sewing project done with cheap fabric. But on the plus side, I love that she is trying different looks.

Marion, please come back to Dior

A bit too blah, not a fan.

    Chic.

Oh this hurts, I really thought she was hitting her fashion stride. I don’t like this look at all for her, it looks cheap and ill-proportioned.

A little bit underwhelming for Cannes, but still a nice look…

      +1

That is one simplest fuss free modification 😁!
She should have saved this for some other fun outing/red carpet, bcoz that’s a beautiful lil dress. She still looked pretty though.

    Beautiful.
