Sarah Jessica Parker In Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda – 2018 Met Gala

Sarah Jessica Parker is one I always look forward to seeing at the Met Gala, as she so unabashedly dresses to theme. And, she didn’t disappoint for her 2018 showing on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

As per, there was an air of outright thematic extravagance in her sweeping Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gold filigree, heart-embellished gown.

But, despite the intricate embroidery, the ruffled sleeves, and the long cape-like train, I would say it was the fascinator balancing atop her head that really took the cake and stole the show.

The intricate nativity-scene headdress was a work of art in and of itself, adding to the unapologetically costume-fueled drama of her entrance.

Love her and she is definitely “on theme” but the whole thing is “too much”. Blake played the game better this year.

The flower wasn’t needed and the blue eye shadow is a no, but the rest is beautiful and on theme.

    LOVE IT!!

Wow – trust SJP to bring drama to the Met Gala. This is perfectly on point for the theme of the night. That headpiece is awesome!

It’s kind of horrid and crazy but love it.

I’ve never understood why she is considered such a Fashion Icon when all her choices are essentially ridiculous. This is no different. It is entirely too literal and looks very dated and tired and trying too hard. hard pass on this.

  7. Trinny May 8, 2018 at 10:02 #

All I will say is that there was a theme, and SJP definitely stuck to it.

I’m in minority but i think her headpiece was unnecessary. Otherwise loving the rest of it-train,embroidery,hairstyle makeup and the flower.Especially the flower.

you gotta give SJP applause for the efforts and her commitment to this event, but the final results may be very subjective.

I appreciate that she went all-out for this, but her frozen forehead & eyebrows + awful eyeshadow combo really detracts from the look.

It’s ok. The white flowery hairpiece is redundant. I don’t like the make up personally. I think others have taken this approach tonight more successfully.

Spectacular, but the white floral piece in the hair looks excessive.

SJP brought it. This is perfect, aside from the blue eyeshadow.

This is what all of other attendees should follow.

If ever there was a label made for this theme it is Dolce & Gabbana and they and SJP delivered. She gets that it is a costume party. That being said, can someone please make SJP stop with the awful blue eyeshadow?

  17. Caitlin May 8, 2018 at 03:29 #

She is a right religious icon <3

I knew she’d nail the theme. She always goes OTT (as you should) for the MG and it’s fun to watch. Imagine all the celebs putting in this much effort
