Salma Hayek In Altuzarra – 2018 Met Gala

Salma Hayek brought an idyllic form of utopia to the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Her custom Altuzarra sequin-embroidered dress had a beautiful, painterly quality that depicted the biblical Garden of Eden.

Thus, it offered a different variation on the night’s heavenly theme. And, for that, it was a delightful change of pace to the evening’s fashion lineup.

I get the whole Garden of Eden thing but it still comes off as rather casual, or like there was barely any thought process behind the look.

sure, whatever, she was never a fashionista and we can’t ask too much of her

Meh. Cute idea but not memorable. It fits her body well.

I love the idea of the Garden of Eden but the cut and style of the gown is so basic it kills the whole look for me. I am so tired of her wearing the same shape and cut in every gown.

I love the Garden of Eden twist but this looks like a digitized t-shirt print on a simple tank dress. Disappointing.

+2 Totally agree! I’m excited about the Garden of Eden take, I kind of expected someone to dress as Eve.

I wish the skirt was voluminous and had a more expensive looking print, maybe with a plain and better shaped bodice.

+3 there is something missing. More drama in her styling perhaps. This is just a bit simple

+4. The hairstyle is pretty bad too.

So Meh. A painting on a mediocre dress? Eh.

But kudos to her for trying.

Also: shocked that she didn’t wear Gucci.
