Emilia Clarke In Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda – 2018 Met Gala

Emilia Clarke was one of the beauties offering a painterly homage to the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Her intricately embroidered Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda medieval-influenced gown featured portraits of cherubs to check the box on the ‘Heavenly Bodies’ component.

I understand why she added the rosiness of the pink blush to her cheeks, but I think she could have done without it and just let the crimson lip and her embellished crown accessorise the look.

I think the blush looks great, not for everyday or red carpet wear, but for a renaissance costume.

    Love it!

Good look for Emilia, and since the blush goes with the Baroque feel of the dress and this is the event to experiment with makeup – I think it’s okay.

I actually love the makeup. This is exactly what I expected Dolce and Gabbana to deliver for this theme.

cute dress, nice crown, but fell flat on her somehow.
what was with the Marie Antoinette blush?such a bummer.

I love the look overall. But the blush is horrible.

Cute. Works I suppose for the night. Agree about the blush. Its not great but its nice look overall.

    Not liking this

I like the whole look despite the blush.

I expected Dolce & Gabbana to be the stars of the night since the theme was extremely familiar and so close them but sadly I was left underwhelmed. I’ve seen pieces more suited for this night at past RTW and Alta Moda collections than the ones they’ve displayed here.

      *close to them oops

I am right there with you. I could had picked four looks from the runway made for this theme and not one appeared.

      • Mimi May 8, 2018 at 08:16 #

        What were they?

Oh, the dress is beautiful. I really like it. I think it would’ve looked even more stunning on her with her natural brunette hair color. I appreciate she tried to have fun with the makeup, as this is the place for it, but it’s not working.

Take away the blush and I would love it neck up. The dress has some great elements but ends up feeling surprisingly clunky.

    • Riya May 8, 2018 at 05:01 #

Agreed, her look neck up is gorgeous (sans blush) but the dress is doesn’t really match the makeup and hair

she looks so different! I think this is a great look for her, I agree about the makeup.

It feels like we have seen this Dolce and Gabbana´s dress a couple of time by now. Nothing new to me.

I can’t forgive the overdone blush. It is horrendous. The dress looks good on her and is on theme so neck down it is a win for her.
