Karen Gillan In Valentino – ‘The Party’s Just Beginning’ Tribeca Film Festival Premiere

Karen Gillan was back on the red carpet at ‘The Party’s Just Beginning’ premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday (April 22) in New York City.

One could definitely call this Valentino gown a party frock. The tulle fabric sprinkled with white splotches takes on a fairy tale starry sky quality.

I foresee the slashes across the bodice as the divisive detail that will either kill the look or have people swept away.

I appreciate the idea of trying to work a graphic, sexy element into the whimsical style, but don’t think the finish is as strong as it could have been.

The black bodice feels too stark against the more muted tulle and the ratio of skin to fabric feels off. Had there been some modifications, it could have been an arresting look.

Thoughts?

Kind of makes me think of it as a bad Rodarte impression from back in the day (on Keira Knightley)

Her hair looks unwashed limp and gross..
The dress is rather ugly. The top part is way too fussy. I despise the area of sheer slits. They are in awful spots.

    Just ugly look.

Pretty, doesn’t seem her style though?

The sheer slits ruin this for me. Without them, this would be a gorgeous dress.

it’s a lovely dress, her hair and make up are gorgeous, but the see through slits do not work for me, especially up close where you can see the wrinkles in the fabric and it becomes a tad sloppy.
